Me and my mate stayed here at the weekend (29/7/2017) whilst visiting ten of the best car show. The site is very basic but very well kept. The owners couldn't do enough for us from the minute we got there. Definitely stay there again next year.

Stayed here for the first time for 3 nights. There are only 2 touring caravan pitches as all the other pitches, about 15, are for seasonal touring caravans so have to book early or may be lucky. No one was around when we got there so guessed where we had to pitch from the hook point. The water point is quite a way, certainly need a handle for your barrel. There are 2 men's and 2 women's toilets which didn't get cleaned while we were there. There is a shower, nowhere to put your clothes apart from 2 hooks on the door and nowhere for your toiletries. There is also no extractor fan so lots of little slimy slugs due to being damp. There is one key so if no one is in you cannot shower! AS previous reviews the dogs are a bit of a pain with barking even in the night when you go to the toilets. People arrive early to fish, 7am, so if you are a bit of a late riser may struggle to get a peg as there are a lot of pegs where you cannot fish due to the trees. There is a Costcutters and a pub 1 1/2 miles away but have to go in the car as the road is very windy and no footpath and cars go very fast. There is a shopping outlet about 5 miles away with York a bit further. Not sure if we will return with the caravan due to lack of pitches but my partner may go to fish.

Arrived at 6pm on Friday 31st May 2013, set the caravan up and had a look around the lake, I noticed a few bits of tackle on some of the pegs but thought they were just packing up. Later that evening I went out to have another look around the lake and noticed that every peg, bar one, had been reserved, the owners didn’t mention that this happened. I put my bivvy on the peg that was empty. I went out to set my tackle up around 6. 30 Saturday morning only to be told that I was not allowed to use this peg as it interferes with the pegs on either side (apart from the fact that the owners son in law was on one of those pegs.
The whole idea of visiting this site was to fish. I always prefer to fish close to the caravan but all available pegs were on the opposite side of the lake. I complained to the owner about not being advised to put some of my tackle out to reserve a peg and told her that I’d never seen this happen on any other fishing caravan sites. She said that it’s always been like this. I told her that I would be writing this review to advise other caravanning anglers of this practice, to which she replied that she would write a counter review. We refused to pay and left at 9am on Saturday morning.

We booked here for a short stay and after been there for 3-4 hours were talking about packing back up and going home -its terrible -
the site is full of tourers that are used as statics and all the people are very clique. There was screaming kids all over playing football just yards from your caravan and running round your car with mums and dads also shouting and screaming at the kids.
The fishing is far from brilliant. There was 1 shower for the whole site and you have to ask the owner for the key ? (don't know why as the toilets are left open?, 1 night we didn't get showered till 11:30 as there was no one in to get the key off!). There's 1 mens toilet and 1 womens toilet that looked like they have never been cleaned -the block was freezing as there is no heating.
There's also a couple or three guard dogs that bark all the time even through the night. There's no pubs within walking distance -you cannot get a decent wifi signal with a dongle and don't bother taking a satellite system -it took me 2 hours to get a signal then someone moved my dish -
All in all not enjoyable

Very friendly and relaxed style of campsite management, no hassle or massive rule list. Have stayed here a few times as we have a motorhome so facilities are unimportant.
Site is mostly for the fishing and relaxing/lazing around the lake. I would say this is not a site if you have a family/kids. Facilities very basic but the site has such a pretty and well kept lake. The biggest downside which prevents a completely relaxed stay for us - the two dogs which other reviews have mentioned and because of the small size of the site, this really can be a problem.

I think campers should be very aware that this is a fishery not a campsite! I went with my two dogs and fisherman husband but only stayed one night although booked for 3,
very poor facilities, no safe dog walks and my husband had to clear the ladies toilet block of spiders and thick cobwebs, which clearly hadn't seen a cleaner for a year or two!
the two guard dogs situated between us and the toilets were unreal, if I had children they would not be going past them that's for sure!
Basically if your just going for fishing then its great but if your a woman going to relax, don't bother stressful doesn't cover it

I have visited this site a couple of times now, firstly at Easter last year and secondly Easter this year. The site is more of a fishery than a caravan site. The first year we were pitched on the front garden with one of the electrics coming from a normal 3 pin socket plugged in the kitchen of a little house that's there. The cable was just hanging through the letterbox. We accepted that we booked late and so caught them a bit short and made do for the few nights we were there. The site is predominantly seasonal with the main pitching area taken up by permanent campers that fished each weekend. We re-booked the year after as we liked the area and were re-assured our party of 4 caravans would be on the main site. Upon arrival the main site was again full with seasonal tourers but even more had been packed on into the bungalows back garden! We ended up being squashed onto the front lawn area with the same setup as before. For this reason non of us would return again. As previously mentioned the dogs go mad each time you walk past which you have to to get to the Elsan, water and toilets/showers. The facilities are very basic but never managed to use the showers as there is 1 key for the whole site, so its a case of find the key and ask for it.

Stayed here fri/sat night, first impression of seeing static was, 'oh no', static doesn't look great from the outside, but once inside, apart from being a little dated, it was more than adequate for our needs, spacious, clean and with all the facilities you would need, heating, fridge, freezer, toilet etc, 2 bedrooms 1 double 1 single. Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay and will return next year.
1 negative is that the 2 German shepherd dogs are very loud (barking) whenever someone walks past or comes out of a caravan, not good if you have kids sleeping etc, didn't affect us, but heard some people losing it a bit, screaming at the dog to shut up?
Fishing. Nice set up, but unfortunately didn't catch anything
Like I say, will be returning next year.

What a lovely little site, Clean and tidy with very friendly staff. We admittedly visited for the fishing and although the weather was not great with a brisk wind across the water and showers every 15 mins or so. Park well laid out with 2 male 2 female toilets very clean along with 1 shared shower which again was clean and big enough to change in and not soak all your cloths.
Malc on site will assist you with the latest fishing baits and what works and what wont along with areas of the pond to avoid due to lack of fish. Large Catfish and Carp in the pond along with Bream alought I didn't witness any Catfish myself plenty of the locals talk of 40 lb regualy with the odd 50lb in attendance.
All in all a very pleasurable break on a very nice quiet and clean site with all the facilities you need in either Caravan or tent.
Keep up the good work Elivington we will back several times a year Thank You.

Just return from a three night stay at this little site which was really nice especially with the snow covered ground and the lake frozen over. The lady owner was really nice told us to pitch anywhere we wanted as no one else was on we pitched seven foot from the lake between trees it was really peaceful.
There was two gents and two ladies toilet with one shower in nice tidy condition shop and pubs about mile and a half away and the park and ride to york about three miles and the air museum about a mile. We could not fish as the lake was frozen solid but we were not disappointed as york kept us amused.
Had to go and look for the lady to pay her and she charged us ten pounds a night including ehu, supposed to be twelve pounds fifty but dropped her price because of the weather conditions. For three adults that was really cheap, the cheapest I ever been in.
There is no doubt this site is for fishermen and yet there is plenty to do close by.
