We knew what to expect from the site having stayed here previously. We stayed here May 2017 and October 2017.
Beware of the speed ramps then can give you a jolt if you take them a bit to quickly so ease over them. On entry to the site go left at the roundabout and straight up to the touring and park by the shops and walk back to reception to check in more room to park up.
The touring pitches are on a hillside and can be uneven and on a slope but blocks are available to help level a caravan from the touring site warden. Taps are plenty around the site with waste water going down the drain next door.
The toilet and shower block is dated and tired but clean although drafty and cold as no heating inside it the shower itself was not very warm so in a month like October early November you don't get a nice hot shower to help warm you up. Suitable lighting around the field but not excessive. The view from the field is lovely overlooking Torbay and the cheerful whistle from The Dartmouth Steam Railway followed by the steady chuff chuff of the train pulling away from Goodrington Station.
There is a walk from the site to the beach which is manageable by all. 3 big supermarkets are within a short drive from the site.
Sadly the years of this touring field are numbered as Hoburne have this field marked as a possible expansion of the static holiday homes but the warden has said that there are still there as far as 2019.
There is a club on site with entertainment and a swimming pool and a all weather sports pitch along with a 9 hole crazy golf course for which a charge apply's.

Arrived on site, staff friendly and check in very quick. As the lower touring site is now closed we were given a pitch on the hillside location, the furthest point from the reception area you can get. Given the top row to be greeted by a large steel water tank for our view for the week - not really a good start but made the best of it. The pitches were not level and the hard standing was overgrown with weeds. Plenty of water points but they needed cleaning as you could smell the drains. The loos/ showers were very dated - tiles missing/ cracked etc but they were reasonably clean. One criticism - the cleaning was done in the morning - ladies 0800-0900 and gents 0900-1000, just about the busiest time of the day. Didn't use the outdoor pool but my youngest enjoyed the indoor one and playground/ crazy golf and football. We took our dog but found it wasn't as dog friendly as we expected - not allowed inside and only outside area to eat or drink was open, so no shelter. Have been told that the touring area will eventually be closed and static vans placed on it. It seemed that the statics got priority and the touring area is just an inconvenience, needless to say I don't think we will be returning.

Just returned from 2 weeks staying in the lower field.
Plus points.
Staff were really friendly, from reception to the warden and security. Site is in good location for the beach and surrounding ares. 2 good pools. Entertainment staff work hard and keep the kids amused. Restaurant served very good food, and only a £1-2 more than a normal pub. Plenty to do on site for the whole day.
Bad points.
Toilets are dated and several people complained about the cleanliness. This was dealt with, but it doesn't help when other families children use them as a play area!
The site is very hilly, and quite a steep walk to the shop and entertainment. O. K. Coming back.
There are a lot of seasonal pitches on the lower field. It does create a 'click' and a sense that they own the area. Not really a camping feeling. Created a lot of noise as well, as which some families complained. The warden did acknowledge that they are aware of the situation, and did apologize, which was a good response.
Had a good holiday, but don't think that we will be returning.

A lovely site with great facilities and plenty to do for children. Great views out to sea from the bar/restaurant and a pleasant 10-15 minute walk to the beach. We loved the site until the point where we were told to take down our small storage tent as they are 'not insured' for tents. Our motor home was surrounded by touring caravans with massive awnings covering almost their entire pitch area but our tiny tent containing our sons toys, his bike and our deck chairs was considered to be an insurance risk. We had to stuff everything under the motor home and thankfully it didn't rain. The family opposite were told to take down a little gazebo which was nothing more than 4 canvas legs with a cover. It was ridiculous. We liked everything about the site apart from this but we wouldn't be able to stay again for more than a few days as we wouldn't be able to store enough things for any longer, let alone have somewhere dry to put things if it rains. I'd give this consideration if you are a motor home owner who doesn't have an awning that actually attaches to your van. We nicknamed the staff 'the fun police' because, as well as the storage tent issue, our little boy wasn't allowed to play with his small inflatable ball in the pool either. They're very over the top with rules there.

I have visited this site before and have to say that I was a little bit disappointed this time.
The site itself is quite hilly and the centre is looking a bit dated although these things don't really matter. The swimming pool is great and the kids loved the water slide, although the shower facilities are not great - much better at Hoburne Bashley were they have shower cubicles big enough to fit the family in.
The bit that disappointed was the entertainment team in respect of the kids. On our previous visit the entertainment was brilliant and the kids did not stop going on about it. I picked the Pirate Weekend thinking that it would be packed with activities for the kids but it wasn't. We turned up for the pirate hunt only to find that it was cancelled due to not enough children - very hard to explain to 2 children dressed up as pirates who had been looking forward to it. In the evening the team just seemed to lack that spark which had been there on our previous visit.
On the whole it is a good site in a good location and I would go back there again, but would benefit from a bit of a refurb.

Just back from 4nights at this site
Although in an excellent position and very clean(beach at goodrington 10-15 min walk paignton pier 15-20) there were a few niggles and would recommend that anyone when booking especially in a campervan enquires which part of the touring field there staying on as it can make a big difference
Plus points
Excellent location, very clean on site, staff friendly, shop reasonably priced
Negative points
Bar very expensive £3. 70 a pint of fosters!
Indoor pool cold, jacuzzi cold, shower blocks cold although showers were nice and hot entertainment/pub closes at 11pm, security staff walk round like nightclub bouncers telling non-rowdy campers to stop drinking outside at 11. 15pm!
Pitches on top field on massive slopes so could not get level so spent most of the time rolling down the camper!
Would I go again yes! but would find it cheaper to drink in paignton or at the 'inn on the quay ' in goodrington. Excellent food at good prices
And would def check my pitch before booking next time

Nice site, we stayed in the lower field which was a bit soggy, but not terrible. Given us being there in October this was hardly surprising.
Facilities were good, pool and bar good. The site is well presented, and situated. Access to the site is good, and washing facilities above average, when not really busy.
The staff were really friendly, and the site operates a discount scheme for local attractions if you speak to the reception first.
Really enjoyed the stay there, will return again one day.

We stayed here towards the end of June while visiting family.
This campsite is alright, it has a nice play area, the pool and inside pool need attention especially the Jacuzzi as you kind of fall in and risk breaking something, plus it can be quite slippery and this applies also with the pools and you can hardly see where you are stepping.
The views from the play ground are good and you can see Torbay
The Woodlands in Dartmouth near Totnes is worth visiting.
The campsite is hilly in places and found it not brilliant for wheel chairs and push chairs as I had the job of pushing someone around and I found getting lost looking for locations on camp quite common.
Overall I would give this campsite about 6 / 10.

This is our 3rd year now and we love this site,it represents excellent value for money. The pitches are spacious and in general the area and facilities are kept very clean and tidy, this is due to the hard work and dedication of the wardens who are always cheerfull and friendly. The pools are clean and well managed and the added bonus is the sauna and steam room.
We like being able to take a walk down to the beach (about 15 minutes scenic walk). The shop has most items that you need and Morrisons and Sainsburys are only 5 minutes away. The entertainment was good and varied and as usuall with Hoburne the staff are always friendly and helpful and happy to assist you. The weather during our stay was great and relaxing by the outdoor pool was just fantastic.
This site never feels crowded or busy during school holidays. We noticed lots of people pitched near us were the same as last year which speaks for itself. Our children cant wait to go back and see friends they have made over the years, the playground, arcade, and lounge area keep them well entertained. There is lots to do in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham which are all a short drive away. Well done Hoburne for another great holiday, all of us including our friends who visited for the first time this year hope to see you again next year.
