We have used this site a few times and it makes an excellent base for the Lake District. Set just off the A66, a 10 minute drive to Keswick or short walk into Threlkeld.

Excellent hill walks right from the site.

Large fully serviced pitches.

Basic shower facilities.

Lovely friendly owners and a decent farm shop on an honesty panic basis.

Nice site on a working farm in a stunning location. Located a little bit off the A66 between Blencathra and Clough Head, making it a great walking base.

Short walk to Threlkeld village - 2 excellent pubs here. Keswick a 10 minute drive.

Facilities basic but perfectly adequate. Nice large fully serviced pitches.

Excellent little farm shop on site done on an honesty box basis. The minted lamb burgers were outstanding!

This was the first time I’d visited this site for quite a few years and they’ve now added a nice fully serviced area for tourers.

Toilets and showers adequate but very dated. Working farm with lovely owners.

Excellent base for Blencathra, Clough Head and the railway path to Keswick. Two top quality pubs in Threlkeld, which is 10-15 minutes walking.

 Stayed here over Easter.

Nice different sort of site.

When you first go in you think what have I come to here but the pitches are really good.

Great walks around to a few pubs across the A66. Takes about twenty minutes.

Also great walk into Keswick on a mainly tarmac path great views. Just get a bus back to the village.

Would definitely stay here again

Excellent site, loved it being on a working farm, where else would you see geese, sheep, horses and working dogs from the window of your motorhome.

Great walking along the old railway line to exercise the dogs and then along the newly revamped Threlkeld to Keswick walk, which is amazing.

The site operates a little honesty shop which is nice. The views are amazing. Facilities not open yet due to the pandemic but looked adequate.

We will definitely add to our 'go to' list.

Very friendly welcome.

Stayed 1 night on our tour around the Lakes. Fairly cheap ok campsite. Hard standing area a bit rough and ready. Friendly and relaxed but the facilities are pretty dated. Still, everything works, can't complain. You get what you pay for and Lake district camping is pricey. Ruby the sheepdog is an absolute delight!

We have stayed here a couple of times now and will return, does it have the heated shower block and family room? No, but it does have clean showers and toilets, which are free and a very friendly and relaxed family run business where you are trusted to know if your dog needs to be on a lead or not.

There is a toilet waste tank, fresh water is available and its location makes it an ideal base camp for just about everywhere in the lake district.

For us, a retired couple who sometimes have grandchildren with us its perfect, but in peak season it gets booked up quick so if you need to book during the school holidays plan ahead or be disappointed. I've marked down on the site facilities only because the men's showers are a little cramped so not the easiest for a disabled man to use.

Still a working farm, Horses Dogs Chickens Geese & allsorts running about with a great atmosphere, we didn't use them but the shower/toilets were a bit dated but kept nice clean. In the laundry room there's a mangle (yes a mangle) & a tumble dryer (£1) for 20 mins. We pulled in on the off chance & they managed to squeeze us in & for £15pn a good deal.

Just had a fab 9 days here yes it's a working farm and yes you have the chickens, geese, dogs etc wandering around but it all adds to the atmosphere! Great value for money, with hook up, fresh eggs available every morning, The tourers are on hard standings, gravel which is a bit uncomfortable underfoot if you forget to put shoes on when walking in awning, never used the public conveniences so couldn't comment on them. Great spot to stay for the northern lakes, Threlkeld a short walk away for a lovely meal and drink, Keswick 4 mile away and a lovely walk to there, scenery outstanding! Will be back sooner rather than later I hope

Mixed review really. Stayed here over a weekend in August. Two couples and a dog. Great place to base yourself for the Northern Fells. Blencathra, Skiddaw etc. Great price. Cannot argue with £5 a night p/p all in! I have stayed at many sites without any facilities and paid more than that. Access roads are ok from the A66. Few potholes here and there but you are not going to do any damage if you take it slow. Really enjoyed the working farm aspect of the site. Chickens nosing in and out of tents, farm dogs mooching about. Had a walk to Threlkeld for a few beers and a decent meal. Took about 15 mins. Now the not so good things. The drainage is not the best. We had quite a lot of rain over the weekend and by Sunday the car nearly got stuck. The noise from the A66 was pretty annoying but it was our decision to camp their so we cannot really complain. There are certainly more remote campsites to choose from. The toilets were ok and the showers were decent enough. Free and plenty hot water controlled by taps. None of those ‘push button’ showers here! Unfortunately there was no soap in the dispensers all weekend which really annoyed me and if you got any toilet roll after 16:00 it was a bonus. My mate came back with one less pair of boxer shorts than he packed! You get the picture!

Would I stay here again? For the price you pay then I would say yes. You get what you pay for really. Very basic but a decent location for the Northern Fells and some decent pubs within walking distance.
