1st time at this caravan site & area. We arrived after 1pm as requested travelling from Cambridge, so pulled into a layby for a time before travelling on to the site as we were early.
We had to get through Canterbury town which is busy. The site is only 1 mile out of the town so is walkable if your able but up hill going back.
We were warmly greeted by a female member of staff & shown to our pitch. We had a choice of what was available the 1st choice not for us but picked a pitch in the Paddock which was great.
We were on a hard standing pitch, some pitches around the edge of the field were under trees & grass. You need very strong pegs if putting an awning up on the hard standing pitches.
We found our area very tidy & all adults so very quiet which was also commented on by our neighbours. It was school time in Canterbury but even at the weekend we didn't get any families in our area, there was units coming & going all the time, its a very busy site.
There was areas around the site we would not have liked a pitch on as a lot of trees around. We found the toilet blocks very clean & tidy.
There was washers & dryers £3. 50 per wash, £1, dryer. The warden told us about a 10% discount on food & drink at the golf club over the road, go, the food is lovely & on a nice sunny day you can site outside over looking the golf course.
They don't do a Sunday roast every weekend which we went for but was not disappointed in the food we had. There is a bus stop outside the site on the main road, bus's run every 30 minutes into Canterbury, or Sandwich the other way, then changes to Deal I think every other bus.
In Canterbury you have a vast choice of bus's going all over. We travelled to Whitstable, Faversham & Folkstone from Canterbury & went to Sandwich & Deal the other way. We enjoyed Canterbury itself walking on the walls, going into a lovely park with a river running through it with Punts on.
There is the Umbrella Cafe inside the park which is a community cafe but we had a lovely 2 course meal & a drink each & it was so cheap, go try it for yourselves.
Faversham also had a Umbrella cafe too. We did not go into the Cathedral as only selling yearly tickets at £17pp & as we wont be back in Kent next year we didn't purchase one.
All in all we enjoyed our trip & the site.

We arrived early as we were not travelling far. Seems very petty that we weren't allowed on our pitch even though it was free. Had to sit & wait!
Staff were helpful but it it hadn't been a club site we would have been shown to our pitch when we arrived.
Thought the showers were broken BUT actually you just have to hit the button about 6 to 10 times before hot water makes it through, seems such a waste of water.
Site was pretty & well looked after.

We visit several times a year as we have family nearby. I'm really sorry to say that on this visit the sites standards have slipped and work needs to be done to restore our previous high opinion.
Whilst the site assistant who greeted us was a nice friendly guy I never spoke with any of the others or saw them except when they were chatting to each other in a group.
I don't think seeing a Site Assistant vaping is a good look for CCC, Or walking their dog in uniform mid morning and ignoring site visitors.
The bathroom facilities look very tired and dated, and shabby. Our block wasn't cleaned to the standard I've previously enjoyed.
The flower planters were sadly neglected and the whole place looked unloved. A real disappointment as it the past few years it's been neat, weed free, clean, bright and well tended.

As expected a high quality site from the Camping and Caravaning Club. It was nice that the small tents were in their own space, so grouping trvaellers together whilst not feeling over looked by caravans. The loos are very close to this area too. Spotless facilities and helpful staff.
The only problem with the small tents section is it is next to the hospital and the day I was there they had a delivery the other side of the hedge at 06:15! You also get some traffic noise from the boy racers on the main road. I'm knocking marks off my location rating for this.
If you are cycling to the site, I would not recommend cycling up the hill on the A257. Instead go slightly futher north and use Chaucer Road. There is still a hill, but the road is much quieter and you can then get to the site on the paths through the new housing estate on the former army site.

Took a couple of nights at my local club site, just to try out the new camper. Just before Christmas, and yes, it was cold.
I had confidence that the club site would be good: clean and warm shower block, and a free choice of pitch.
The site I’d estimate was at about 10% capacity: busier than I thought.

Good site for visiting Canterbury and surrounding area,
Bus stop outside to Canterbury and then more buses to the coast like Margate.
Clean facilities.
You can also get a drink and food I the golf club opposite when it is open.

A lovely site not too far from the city of Canterbury with easy access just off Littlebourne Road, opposite the golf club go down Bekesbourne Lane about 25 yards and the site is on your right.
This site is open all year and has a mixture of hard-standing and grass pitches available but no service pitches.
Two facilities blocks which although kept clean by the staff struggled to cope when we were there as it was busy. There are simply not enough toilets, showers and basins.
The layout of the site is very good as it is divided into different sections, staff help you chose a suitable pitch on arrival. A motorhome service point is also available.
Canterbury is about a 20/30 mins walk away depending on your level of fitness and has everything you need, alternatively the 43 bus stops just outside the site, Canterbury one way and Sandwich the other.
Overall we had a very nice stay and would recommend this site.
