Lovely wooded spot by the river. Ground was a bit damp after heavy showers and it looks like the river might have burst its banks earlier in the day so be careful where you camp if heavy rain is forecast! Currently no showers but looked like construction of a shower block was in progress, so maybe in 2025.
Without showers or washing-up facilities, freezer, etc. I would say this is not as good value as some other campsites in the region with somewhat better facilities. That said there are also far more expensive sites that I simply avoid, so this is still a good site. Also not really walking distance to pub or shops (in contradiction to what the description suggests).
In any case we had a pleasant stay and enjoyed a lovely walk along the beautiful river.

Absolutely idyllic spot.
Sharing the field with sheep, just about sums up the place.
Toilets basic, no showers.
Gets v. Busy on weekends and school hols.
Highly recommended.
Most importantly, fires allowed.
Will definitely return

A quiet & peaceful campsite in a brilliant location for exploring Snowdonia.
Basic amenities (ie toilet block without showers, women's toilet has a hot tap and private cubicle to grab a wash in) however this doesn't detract at all - unless you're more of a glamper than a camper.
The owners are really friendly and helpful.
It's by the river which is gorgeous but be prepared for midges. Not a problem if you light a fire (in one of the many good fire pits dotted around).
Good value for money, great for couples, families and doggos.

This was a lovely site with easy access to the river.
Expect a basic site, there are several fields where you can park where you like (within reason). There are a couple of stand pipes for water an a toilet building.
The owner was really lovely and on arrival we were treated well and taken through a couple of Covid points as well as normal site information. N her rounds, she made an effort to speak with the campers and ensure everything was ok as well as taking an interest in their plans and activities.
The site filled up quite a lot during our stay but it was bank holidays but there was still plenty of space though some people didn't leave much space between some units.
This site is within walking distance of Betws-y-Coed and Fairy Glen, although the road needs to be followed with care but there are also numerous walks directly accessible from the campsite or, as with most places in Snowdonia, a short drive away.

Lovely basic campsite in beautiful spot. Used all our own facilities but purchased logs for the fire pit.
Busy as B/H weekend but all other campers quiet.
Amazing dark skies to stargaze and lovely walks from campsite along river.
Our kind of place!

The campsite is beautiful, and facilities were kept extremely clean, with hand sanitiser everywhere on site. However, we found it to be extremely basic.
No dish-washing sink, so some of the families went to the river to wash their dishes, which made it pleasant to wade in after, and it you didn't bring your own bowl, you had to make do with the few taps around. Only one shower - in the girls toilette.
In addition to that the resident sheep herd roams the place and they start bleating at sunrise, and the midge population was completely out of control.
A bit too basic for our taste.

What a beautiful place a little gem, we hired the static caravan, the children loved playing in the river, there are some lovely walks right on your doorstep, a lovely location very peaceful.
Great location perfect for exploring the area, we will definitely be returning in the future

I used to go to this site years and years ago but then when the kids were born we went soft and got a caravan !
The kids are older now and the caravan has gone so I thought it was time to show them what real camping was all about.
We arrived on the Friday night and no was about and the gate was locked with a security coded padlock but there was a number to ring so we rang it and were given the code and told to post our pitch fees through the farmhouse letterbox !
This was my first time back at this site for probably 14 years and apart from the converted barn into a toilet block not much else had changed
We pitched the tent that evening, got all set up and then got the fire on and sat round it with a beer. Perfect
The next day was perfect warm sunny weather so a days rock climbing was had and then back to the site for a wash in the river as the site has no showers and then dinner and another open fire and a few more beers
This site is a proper campsite, it has two toilets and a few cold water taps. That's it
It perfect for a weekend away but if you don't like roughing it a bit it probably isnt for you but we will definitely be back again, it's great!

We have visited this site for many many years and it remains as beautiful and magical as ever. Yes its basic and the stream serves as a combined, cooler swimming pool and a wash room but it is those experiences and the amazing surroundings that make the site so untouched and special.
The 'free range children' had an amazing time and loved to climb and swing from the trees in the day, building the fire and playing hide and seek at night.
The prices are per person so it worked out a costly camping trip for a large family, especially given the lack of facillites, but you are paying for the location which more than makes up for that.
However. As a word of caution if you are looking for a tranquil break or have young children I would recommend avoiding the major holidays. After 30+ years I would be reluctant to visit again on a bank holiday as the site was very very busy this year, filled with people who did not seem to appreciate the natural beauty of the site had little consideration for other camper and were a little too noisy for us.
Unfortunately this spoilt the magic of the place for us but you may still enjoy it. In future we will stick to quieter weekends but we will certainly continue to visit the site.

If you like camping as it should be then this is the place to come. We return again and again as this magical place keeps pulling us back. We spent sunday night cuddled up in the blankets, campfire roaring, watching the shooting stars in that endless night sky.
Monday morning the river was babbling, and a bacon buttie was on the menu! This little corner of wales is as enchanting as it comes, and it's just got that something that makes you miss the place!
If you truly want to get away from it all then we've just let you into the secret of doing just that!
