Small friendly site - poor facilities
Stayed with friends and family for a couple of nights. There are 2 portaloos and a plumbed in toilet on the field and in an outhouse at the back of the main house a toilet and a separate shower. Only a small hand basin in the toilet room so difficult to have a wash. The shower didn't work while we were there so the owners allowed our group to use the ensuite facilities in the B&B. There are no facilities to wash up.
The owners were lovely and were great with the kids giving them ice lollies.
The Ostrich pub a little way along the road is worth a visit - great beer and food. Booking advisable as it gets very busy.
Well located for the Forest of Dean and Monmouth.
Sadly despite the owners being so nice we won't be returning.

A pleasant, low key campsite. Owner quite friendly and informal.
Cost £6 adult, £4 child
Variable sloped site with a hedged-off little corner. This was booked but no show.
Two portaloos with built in hand wash.
There is a shower apparently, but we didn't use it.
Very quiet road adjacent, but noisy birds abound!
10 min walk from Newland Village centre along road without footpath. Interesting looking pub, The Ostrich.
Not a Glampers Site, but suited us ( 7 yr old daughter and myself ) and we would return.
I would definitely return.

I found this site by accident while driving around and have used it twice. It is a few minutes driving from the A466 and a 10 minute walk from The Ostrich Inn in Newland, which serves good food and can be busy in the evening.
The site is on a large field with varying degrees of slope, with a small secluded area at the far end that I was not aware of until the site owner mentioned that it was already taken!
There is no EHU, several fresh water taps, a rubbish/recycling point near the entrance and a couple of portaloos (which I never used) at the far end. A shower (OK) and toilet (no sink) are available behind the farmhouse, past the garden and bird feeders. Not enough to avoid queues during the busier months.
The owner is friendly and apparently tries to keep the site open all year. Only £5 a night per person, so good value if you are solo.
Quite a nice view over the farm and the road is pretty quiet at night.
Monmouth is about 10 minutes away when driving and has a good selection of shops for the essentials, and Tintern Abbey is about 10 minutes away in the other direction.
I will definitely use this site again because it's nicely situated when travelling from/to South Wales to/from the Midlands.

This site is in a lovely spot, and the camping field is nice and flat, but for £16 a night for 2 adults and 2 children, I would have expected a washbasin in the toilet!
The single shower was also very basic and there are no washing up facilities, but we managed with water from the kettle and a bowl.
Overall though, I would say with an inexpensive visit from a plumber to fit a small handbasin to the toilet, this site would be ok. With a proper shower and toilet block, it would be lovely.

Very small and basic campsite with only one toilet and shower, both pretty busy and not very hygienic. No facilities to wash in or wash up.
Site was crowded with tents pitching almost on top of each other so not much privacy. BBQ's were allowed which we turned into a fire after eating, which was great, but the owners do not like anyone staying up after dark, so beware if you want to stay up later than 9. 30!
Will definitely not return or recommend this site to anyone.

Stayed for a long weekend with a group of friends.
Nice field, easy to get the pegs in. Lots of space, and pretty quiet, although the road can be a bit noisy at times (as can the church bells on a Friday night!)
Very basic facilities - one loo and a shower in a block, another portaloo at the other end of the field, and plenty of standpipes. As noted by other reviewers, there is no basin in the toilet, nowhere to wash up, and the shower is a bit feeble. However, the site is cheap, and the only bit that really bothered us was the lack of handbasin.
Good location, easy to get to Monmouth, Symonds Yat and Forest of Dean.
The owner was friendly and the site had a very relaxed feel. It wasn't busy even when it was full, and there was always plenty of space for the kids to play games. I think I would come back.

A small & very basic campsite with friendly owners that is ideally placed for exploring The Forest of Dean, Symonds Yat, and the river Wye.
The field is very peaceful and there is plenty of space for the number of tents on the site.
Although we enjoyed our stay and may use it again for short breaks of 2 or 3 nights there are lots of issues with the site. The main problem is that there is only one electric shower & a toilet behind the main house and no sinks or hot water. There was a rather grim old Porta-Loo in the field but our group would only use it when too desperate to queue.
The lack of sinks & hot water made it very difficult to wash pots & pans or brush teeth which resulted in the areas around the stand-pipes getting really unpleasant even during a relatively dry period of the summer.
We paid the same price to stay at sites with much better facilities and I hope that the owners will invest to address these problems.
I was disappointed by The Ostrich Inn as we were expecting a treat having read it’s reviews. We arrived early in the evening and were served sour beer and warm lager. The bar smelled of dogs and although the food looked ok it certainly wasn’t special and we were not prepared to pay £8.50 for a Ploughman’s.
We did find several beautiful hotels and pubs in the neighbouring villages with friendly and welcoming staff serving great food and beer at reasonable prices, so it’s worth looking around if you have got someone who is prepared to be “designated driver”.

Small simple campsite with friendly owner and convenient location with nearby pubs and walks. Large tent pitches. Long grass in camping field. Only one usable toilet when we were there and therefore a queue can form outside this in the morning - not ideal if you want a poo. Also, no sink, even for handwashing after your poo. Therefore, not a campsite we will return to.

This site is a lovely location in a field behind the farmhouse with views of the valley. It feels nicely isolated and yet is only 10 minutes from the towns of Coleford or Monmouth.
So you are near to the main attractions of this lovely area, Symonds Yat, river Wye, Forest of dean cycling and walking are all within 10-15 minutes.
Facilities are fine with a good shower/toilet, and various water pipes around the field.
The owner James is very pleasant and is true to his word, he does not cram people in and for our weekend, he had stopped taking bookings and yet the kids had plenty of space to run around.
A 10 minute walk up the lane will take you to Newland, a tiny but pretty village which includes a pub The Strich Inn where the beer and food was good (it does get very busy so book if you want to use the dining room, else wait for bar food)
A small downside is that the lane can be a bit busy at some times but this seemed mainly at night (perhaps when the Ostrich pub emptied ?) and not for long. It didn't stop us enjoying ourselves.
There was no hot water for washing up so go prepared for that and all will be well.
