Just read some of the reviews - did I stay a the same place?!
The site itself was lovely and very tranquil, but I found the owner to be very brash and impolite. It may have just been one of those days (or weekends!) for him, but non the less, ruined our stay.
We'd planned a short break with family and friends - 4 tents in total with two very young children (under 18 months). We booked well in advance as it was a bank holiday. At that time, none of the party were Camping & Caravanning club members, but we didn't know the site was C & C only when booking and owner never said otherwise.
So, on arrival he asked for our membership numbers - as we didn't have any, we thought by his tone (sucking through teeth etc) that we were going to have to find somewhere else to stay - this instantly made me feel unwelcome.
He placed us away from the other campers which was great as we didn't want to disturb anyone and there was also another group on site and we didn't want them disturbing us!
The next day we went out for the day and on return, he marched down with clipboard in hand and wanted to inspect our tents - we hadn't spaced them far enough apart! I found his manner at approaching this very rude, but could understand where he was coming from with fire regulations. Couldn't help feeling he should have stated this on arrival - not day after tents pitched!
I personally felt that we were unwelcome on this site as we weren't C & C members at the time, plus a large group, but he was more than happy to take our booking and deposit.
The cleanliness of the facilities I cannot falter as they were pristine, the small hut was a lovely touch to the site and the site itself was lovely, leafy and very peaceful. Not a lot for the children, but our children were happy enough toddling about, playing with their toys.

We are new to the camping scene, so this was our first visit to Sheepwash Cottage. There was myself, my Wife and two children. Also my Brother in law and sister in law, along with their young daughter went to the site on a Bank Holiday weekend for just a day and night stop over. We are only about 40 mins away, but when you arrive there, you could be anywhere in the UK. The area, like someone else pointed out is very tranquil and very clean. We were allowed quite a large area to ourselves, in which we set up a Badminton Court. Bar-b que's are permitted, with a slab provided. There are some great surrounding areas for walks and Birdwatching. All in all a fantastic place for piece and quiet and great fun at the same time. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Cant wait for our next visit.

Just spent another 3 lovely nights here. The owner is so helpful and friendly. The site was very busy with it being Bank Holiday weekend but still it was very quiet early on and no queueing for toilets etc. My only concern now is that this site is up for sale. Upon talking to the owner he confirmed he is going to try and sell it as a going concern but cannot guarantee anything. It will be a real loss if the new owner chooses not to continue with the camp site. It is a truly lovely environment and ideal if you are trying camping for the first time because the owner is so helpful. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Found this site not ideal for children as there was nothing for them to do on site. We paid £12.00 for the tent and 5 of us a night I found this over priced compared to a site that charged us £14.00 a night for us all and there was a club, pool and children's play area. Another site listed on here charges just £6.00 pn and is virtually the same type of site. The small summer house was really nice to sit in, the toilet and shower block were also fine. There were no birds and the pool was a very small pool which is close to the owners house.which felt like we were trespassing on their property when we went to look at it

Just returned from a great weekend break to this campsite. We only live 5 miles down the road from The Sheepwash Cottage Farm and have only recently taken up camping. What a lovely site, well kept, spotless toilets and showers and a really tranquil setting.John the owner was always there if required with a friendly smile and advice. I think we have got the bug now and will start going further afield, but will certainly go back to Sheepwash soon just for the peacefulness

Just got back from a 2 night stay (Fri & Sat) - 2 adults & 2.5 year old child.
Very impressed on several fronts. Would stay there again.
Reasonably short drive to couple of supermarkets on the A50 (Tesco, Aldi)
Campsite has pleasant views, is very quiet, good showers.
Local attractions: Well worth checking out Trentham Monkey Forest - very good time of year (Mid July) since several babies (between 2 & 6 weeks old) which were amazing to see.

Fantastic Site, really enjoyed it, no traffic, no noise, no hassle. Site is only mile from the pub and village shop, two miles from Tesco for those bigger forget things. Site owner is very helpful and always on hand if needed. Site got quite busy on the Sat night but everyone friendly and very considerate to each other. Would definitely recommend this site if you fancy a quiet weekend with no stress. Site has everything essential (hot water for dishes, shower and toilets). A good site to visit.

We have just returned from four days on this site and will definitely go back. The pitches are of excellent quality. The camp is so clean and well cared for. There are only 2 toilets, 2 showers, washing up facilities and a hand basin but even though it was busy when we were there these seemed sufficient. John has now given away all the birds referred to on his website due to the bird flu problems, so no more free eggs I'm afraid but if you are just looking for a quiet break to relax this place is perfect.

Great campsite - showers and toilets clean and kids had lots of space to play games though campsite was very quiet at the time. Peace and quiet was lovely. John, the owner was very friendly and always helpful.Took us about 20 minutes to get to Alton Towers which was fine. Two large Tesco near by along with Mac Donalds and a Hungry Horse pub. We have come home smiling and will definitely book again when going to that part of the country.
