Please note we have been advised that the campsite at this location is now permanently closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches. The pub itself is still open.
If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

Enjoyed our stay at The Three Pigeons Inn.
Very quiet for our stay and private. Ideal for two very young children running around.
Showers and Toilet clean and tidy. Always available, made easier by few ppl at the site.
Pub was closed due to covid, so no noise issues either.

What a great little site. Really quiet and got a good spot at the top despite it being bank holiday weekend. Only about 9 other tents so little noise.
We didn't take our dog but it is dog friendly. Debbie and Paul are lovely and friendly and get back to you very quickly.
There is a supermarket about 10 minutes away which was fortunate as the pub was not able to do food when we arrived due to a fire (hope you get sorted soon).
Only downside was one toilet and shower (could be used separately) for the site and the toilet door could do with a handle on the inside as it was difficult to get out of.
It was £9 pppn for us over bank holiday weekend and there are plenty of walks and a lovely lake around 30 mins away.

My lady, my four year old and I spent a very pleasant couple of nights here over the Easter period. It's a field behind a pub, easy access and lovely and quiet.
As previous reviews stated, toilet and shower basic but clean. We didn't try out the pub food as we were fortunate enough to have BBQ weather but every time we passed the pub we commented how delicious the foods aroma was.
I can only assume that the pub does very good food as the amount of visitors for meals was very high, though the car park being higher up caused us no disturbance whatsoever.
One thing I should say is make sure you have all you need for the night as any provisions are a few miles away! Overall, can't knock it, if all you want is a pleasant quiet site then this is your place.
It is what it is and my lovely lady and I shall definitely return.

Wonderful, quiet little site, perfectly adequate facilities, fabulous character pub and delicious food (advisable to book a table in advance - we were invited to do so when we booked our pitch)
We chose to eat outside on the terrace because the weather was glorious, the views outstanding - and we were lucky enough to witness an exquisite sunset. We will return!

Ssshhhh! This is a hidden gem for those that like basic camping with style on the side. A site I have visited on a number of occasions, and at £6 per night it's great value.
The site is level and well drained (last visit was 2-3 days after lots of rain and the ground was soft but not sodden. The camping field is at the back and below the pub. The facilities are attached to the pub, basic, unheated, 1 shower and toilets. The water is always hot and unlimited. On my latest visit the toilets has been fitted with a lock and they were cleaner than before.
The main asset is the pub. The Three Pigeons is a lovely country pub serving great food and always have 3 real ales and local ciders.
The new landlord is friendly as are the staff and locals. A moderate walk from the pub takes you onto the Offa's Dyke path and the Clywdian Hills are a delight throughout.
Recommend - but don't tell everyone. !

My wife and I have just returned from a week camping here.
First I must say that the Three Pigeons is an excellent pub. Food top notch. Beer a bit cold for one who loves Real Ale, but that was no problem. Hosts were really nice people but are in the process of selling. Completion due Aug 2011.
We loved the camping field, which is down in a dip behind the pub. Very sheltered and level. For most of the week we only shared the site with one other tent. Come Friday night quite a few more tents arrived totalling about 7-8 in all. This worried us a bit, as there is only one toilet. Our worries were unfounded as there was absolutely no rush in the morning.
As a lover of good pubs and quite, simple campsites we think that this is a gem of a site. Our only reservation is the one toilet. It could be a problem in the busy season.
The one shower was great, with endless hot water.

Stayed here the weekend just gone after our first tent had a little mishap at Shell Island in the gales and rain. Points of interest : IT TAKES DOGS ! Although not stated anywhere on here, There is a great walk on the opposite side of the road that goes on for miles and miles, the pub is perfect but does get busy so you may need to book, they have undercover outdoor tables with great views - ideal for sitting with the dogs but you can also take them inside, food is v. Tasty and plentiful, landlord is very nice - obviously cares about your custom and knows how to perfect the real ale.
Watch out for the lovely 'captain' hes a big brown labby who loves being part of the pub scene. Only one loo and a shower but to be honest there were about 30 people camping and never had to queue once for either. Also only a small pitch area which is great as they limit the numbers of people staying which means you are not on top of each other, we have a huge tent and there was still loads of room.
All in all well worth a visit if not for the hospitality or for the views then for a 'paw shake' from captain.

The Three Pigeons campsite is really easy to find and really close to Ruthin if you need to pick up a few bits for a barbeque etc.
We were immediately welcomed and shown the facilities. As mentioned previously they are quite basic but there was toilet paper and soap and they were pretty clean. The only facility in the field is the sink with cold water. A shower and toilet in the field closer to the tent would be appreciated but having said that they are not that far away being attached to the pub.
The pub itself is fantastic. Friendly welcome and if you like and have dogs it is very accommodating. My fiance says it was like Crufts. But in a good way. All the dogs were well behaved and a bowl of water was provided for them. The drink was superb.
The food served in the pub was of a high standard. Well laid out menu, catering for all tastes and the food was cooked for perfection. The Surf n Turf was magnificent.
Cannot wait to return!

Like the other reviewers stated, right next to a pub, with a Friendly landlord / lady. Good food, views, locals and drink. (Not necessarily in that order)
Road quite narrow in places leading to site, with tight turn at top and final steep gravel drive down to field, maybe have problems with large twin axle vans, but no real problems for medium size single.
V Basic amenities actually on site i.E. Water & sink, but adequate basic shower and toilet on end of pub adjacent.
New landlord stated that he was thinking of putting in hook-ups but it all takes time.
We visited when a party of Duke of Edinburgh kids were there and the site was busy but again no problems. Would recommend and will visit again.
