We arrived at Glan Byl last October having booked a seasonal pitch. We hadn't seen the site prior to this, so we didn't know what to expect. Well, how lucky have we been.
The owner, Robert, collected our caravan from our previous site, and on arrival at Glan Byl, Maxine the warden, helped Robert pitch our caravan on its hard standing, levelling it and making sure we were happy with its position.
We stayed for a few days and left the caravan to be put in Winter Storage. Again we didn't need to do anything, but leave the keys to all our security devices, and they put the caravan into storage and returned it to our pitch in March, all sited and levelled up for us to use on arrival. We have now nearly come to the end of our first full season on a seasonal pitch. What a find.
Glan Byl is a very well maintained site. The toilet and shower block is clean and has a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer. DVD's and books are also available to borrow, for those times when you don't wish to explore the wonderful area around you.
So what has made our first season at Glan Byl so memorable? Everyone has been so welcoming. The other seasonal pitch tenants have been lovely, introducing themselves to us and our lively labrador.
They have shared interesting walks, places to visit and good eateries, apart from just having a neighbourly chat and of course a fuss for our dog.
Maxine the warden, along with her brother Stephen, maintain the site exceptionally well, even when their have been very wet conditions. We all know how wet July and August has been. Maxine is always about and happy to help if you have any queries.
There is a designated dog field, which is kept immaculately.
The site has CCTV and is well lit up at night
We can honestly say we are very happy with our seasonal pitch at Glan Byl.

Had a really lovely stay at Glan Byl. We were welcomed by the warden who was so friendly and made us feel very welcome directing us to the nearest supermarket and beaches and lots of other helpful stuff.
The location is just beautiful, stunning views of the surrounding area, the mountains and the sea.
The campsite is well looked after and the facilities, showers, toilets and washing up area were all really clean and regularly checked.
It's a quiet site (which suited us fine) and is surrounded by farmland and animals.
There were seasonal caravanners on the site, who were really friendly and even offered us drinks when we were stuck in our tent in the rain.
As it's off a country lane there are some lovely places to walk and it's only a few minutes ride in the car to the nearest beach, or into Cricceth or Porthmadog if you're looking for takeaway or shops.
Would definitely return, a lovely site for a quiet, rural retreat by the sea!

We stayed for the August Bank holiday with a mixed weather forecast. We don't normally leave reviews, but after we had recommended this site to friends and they had seen a couple of the reviews we felt we had to.
Extremely well kept site, a polite and welcoming warden who had literally returned back to the site from a home visit. They apologised for the entrance to the field being muddy, but as we said there had been heavy rainfall on and off for a couple of weeks we would expect it and there is a hard standing area to leave your car if you want.
I was more shocked at how good the camp field actually was (no mud on it, just the entrance) due to the rainfall the area had had. The grass hadn't been cut, but due to weather you can understand why. It was only about 7cms long (3 inches).
When we turned the corner we were hit by absolutely amazing views.
The toilets, shower area, washing up and laundry facilities were really clean and cleaned daily. Yes there are push button taps to fill barrels, we were shocked how quick they filled, it only took a few pushes and it was full (no trickle!).
Our children loved the site, no they couldn't ride a bike or play football, but this is a general rule on the majority of sites unless they have a dedicated child's play area which this site doesn't. We have been on a lot of sites and children under a certain age being accompanied to the toilet is the general rule and the right thing, but most of all we knew it was safe for our children and others.
We did notice a seasonal tenant (child was under the recommended age) did allow their child to go on their own because they could reach the key code.
If you want a small quiet site (it's a farm surrounded by fields with animal noises), with lovely views, and extremely helpful wardens then give this place a go.

We had a few nights here passing through to South Wales with friends. Booked it based on their website and wanted a quiet couple of days. There isn't a club house, play area, etc but that's what we wanted. Good old family time together. Unfortunately the website doesn't say no ball games. KIds couldn't kick a ball or play on their scooters. We also have to accompany them to the toilet.
We also had to contend with the owners dogs barking at 7am every morning which was such a shame because the site is set in a beautiful position.
Showers were good. Lovely hot water which was great after a wet outing. And believe me, it rained and rained 😯 Shame the wash up water wasn't as warm as the shower!
Would I visit again? Probably not as we have another 10 years of family holidays and not giving the kids freedom did make our stopover very stressful. Shame.

We arrived here bank holiday week, we were disappointed on arrival by the condition of the field, the grass was overgrown, the entrance to the site was all muddy and unsafe and difficult to drive through. The site advertise family friendly but it really did not cater for children as ball games not allowed and no bikes either.
Washing facilities average as no hot water to wash pots, the water taps outside very poor as you have to push taps constantly and you only get water trickling through, this was very difficult in the rain as we were soaked through trying to get water.
Shower and toilets very poor, very unclean and no hand soap to wash your hands afterwards, could not access the warden to discuss this as they were never around,
Also noticed an elderly gentleman back and to the bins rummaging through everyone’s rubbish bags which made us feel very uncomfortable as this was very unhygienic.
Safe to say we will not be returning here, it’s such a shame as the views are beautiful.

The site managers Maxine and Steve were very friendly and helpful.
Nothing was too much bother for them.
The site was well kept and the facilities were modern and kept clean.
We would definitely go there again.

Beautiful place and local area. Plenty of places to eat. We recommend breaktimes cafe and the port.
Fish and chips all ports is fab and very quick service.
Onsite facilities basic could however be cleaner.
Seasonal guests were absolutely amazing very welcoming. Did not meet the owner however there were two wardens one gentleman was such a pleasure very helpful. The other main warden was friendly
Unfortunately we got a sense that children are not welcome on site. No ball games or bikes. Children must be supervised in the toilet at all times if under the age of 13, very tricky when you have younger children to also look after so trips to the toilet in the night is a family outing not good at all.
Unfortunately toilet and shower block completely in darkness at midnight.
Will not be going back.

Shush don’t tell anyone about this site. Where do you start is it the panoramic view of Sea and mountains. Is it the low low cost £25 pn. Near Porthmadog and Portmerion Snowdon and the mountains.
Is it the lovely Maxine where nothing was too much. Nice clean toilet and showers etc.
The site has a high level of permanent caravans so don’t be surprised to be on you own.
Down side? Well I couldn’t think of one. Compared to a Caravan Club sight not as pretty but cheaper less people. Good enough and we will be going back soon.
Ps they only have 2 pitches and be careful when turning from main road with caravan come to a halt before the downward sharp right bend this is evidenced by rubber on the road.
Give it a go we loved it.

Glan Byl is a lovely, small friendly site.
There are views of the beach in the distance and there is lots to do in the area.
We really enjoyed our visit.
