2 nights camping with my 10 year old son.

Lovely site with amazing views, stayed on the larger field which is about 200 yards from the water, toilet, showers.

All facilities are really well looked after owners welcoming and friendly.

Easy access to Cleveland Way for hiking.

A proper camping experience.

As close to wild camping as you can get. There is a single toilet block with a shower, toilet and sink about 500m away from the main field.

I would not recommend trying to drive onto the main field as it is a narrow and steep entrance. Main field has a good slope on it so not a site for a novice family set up.

The positives for this site for me are as follows. No phone signal, no shops, no traffic noise, stunning views, £5 a night!, and it attracts like minded tent campers.

I will be returning a few times over the year.

Oh, and campfires are allowed too.

One of our favourites now, what a great place! Yes the field slopes and the loo and showers are a couple of hundred yards away but look around you and it’s fine!

Remote and quiet apart from curlews, a short walk past the farm gives amazing views of Teesdale, with a great sunset thrown in last night.

The family also could not have been more helpful, assisting without question with a tricky situation.

And you will never guess the price per night but you have to click on their website to find out!

Beautiful views, friendly relaxed owner. Great walking location. Isolated which is how I like it.

Site on a hill making it really difficult to get a flat surface to pitch on unless you get one of the few pitches at the bottom. So arrive early!

Toilet quite far away and only 1 for whole site. 2 showers. Not luxury but practical and does the job.

No washing up area.

But for £4.

The 360° panoramic view from the camping field is spectacular. The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the area which proved useful for our walking routes.

Although the site is sparce regarding some of the facilities you find on other campsites, it had all the necessities we required which are: drinking water; toilet; sink; and showers.

It has become our favourite campsite to date since (although we are only a forty minute drive away) the site feels so remote from any amenities that it has a wild camping sort of a feel.

Hoping to go back before summer end.

Great site, friendly folk, marvellous views (probably different if bad weather though!) certainly not for those who want all the 'bells and whistles' - just toilet (spotless), shower (spotless)& water, it's basic but just what we wanted - once we found it! If using a satnav, don't go by postcode, which takes you to a farm that works out about half an hour away! Most satnavs will take co-ordinates nowadays, which are (for the farm yard) N 54. 414468 W 1. 157867.

Now definitely included in the 'will use again' category

Stayed at this excellent site while walking the Cleveland Way. The grass had just been cut and I pitched on what looked like a bloody golf course, superb bit of grass. This had to be the best site out of 9 I stayed on during the walk. Free showers, sufficient toilet and water supplies. Very friendly owner, she even gave me a newspaper and a couple of magazines when I realised I had longer than I thought at the site. Spent a wonderful evening under the stars with only the inner tent put up. The weather was definitely on my side, absolutely roasting when I arrived. I had the whole site to myself, apart from the 3 playful jack russells! I would give this site 11 stars if I could. Pencil a stay in when you are in the area, you will not be disappointed, especially at £3 a night!

This is a gem of a site. A 'proper' camping site. There is two fields to camp in, one outside loo (kept beautifully clean) and a male and female shower (a bit basic but they work and are free). The views are just magnificent, there are plenty of walks, the folk who run the place are really friendly. The rates are good. This is not a luxury camp site, there is no shop, no bar, no heated swimming pool. So, the site is heaven on Earth. We stayed four nights and came home feeling like we'd had a great holiday. It gets the Paul and Amanda five star rating.

We stopped at Beakhills during the Coast-to-Coast Walk and they could not have been more helpful and obliging. One of our number failed to find the place and they went out to get him. I left my bumbag - with phone and wallet - and they made sure it got to our next destination without any problem, after lots of running around on the quad bike before it was found. Nothing was too much trouble for these folk.

If you like food that is fresh and organic, including home-reared pork, and a pleasant evening chat with the proprietors, this is the place for you. The farm has sheep, cattle, horses (including a beautiful hunter)and pigs, with grouse running free all over the place, pet ferrets and beagles being raised for the local hunt and other dogs to boot. The views are staggering all around and it is altogether a great place to visit.

We stayed here for 1 night as we were walking the cleveland way, ideal as only 1/2 mile from path,

Very basic but all you need for a short stay,

A long way to any pubs etc. so best to eat before or take provisions with you,

Excellent value for money,

Would definitely go again.
