Well this is our sixth visit here, whats great is that it feels like home and as usual Russ and Jane make one very welcome. This year all the facilities were spot on and the grounds manicured all adding to this wonderful site. Keep going Russ. See you again soon I hope.

Its with regret I write this review as its a complaint not against the site or its owner quite the contrary, I have been on this site now five years on the trot and never have had a problem in fact its one of the best I Have known. The problem is some of our fellow caravaners, motorhome owners who write reviews and basically tell lies, yes my dog did go into their awning, yes I apologised told it was no problem, they never complained to me personally and when Russ pointed out the problem it was rectified immediately, so I feel to that Russ has been a victim for no reason what so ever. The last point I would make that these people were made very welcome by the rest of us trying to involve them in various activities that all us arranged to say they were snubbed was of their own doing. However the site remains one of the very best you can find with the hospitality great and nothing is is too much for Russ and Jane. We will be back again next year

We have been to this site 6 times now but this is the first time with Russ owning it. With the site being 9 years old this year a lot of the planted trees and bushes have now matured and really enhances the site and offers some most welcome shade. Returning to this site after a 5-year break we have noticed some changes. The rule about dogs must be on a lead at all times when not enclosed on their dog pitches was not being observed by 2 couples with dogs. 1 couples dog was very obedient and wouldn't stray from their owners while walking through the site. The other couples dog would do what it wanted and wouldn't come when called. Twice it came into our awning and the owner wouldn't do anything about restraining his dog even after being told by me. Russ the site owner had to tell him that his dog must be on a lead when walking around the site. The dog owner didn't like it and snubbed us, causing a nasty atmosphere. This made us feel uncomfortable and spoilt our holiday because someone thought the lead rule didn't apply to them.

One of the other things we noticed was that the shower block wasn't fully cleaned every day. When you went to the toilets you had to check that there was enough toilet roll, as there wasn't a spare roll in case you run out.

Russ seemed to run the site on his own and kept on top off the grass cutting and hedge trimming, keeping the site looking neat and tidy.

I will not be returning to this site due to having our holiday spoilt by one dog owner. It should not have been allowed in the first place.

Our second visit to this site and we hope it will not be our last. Beautiful location assuring peace and quiet, even though there were quite a number of dogs visiting - including our own. Facilities of the highest standard and Russ ever helpful, despite being very busy with site maintenance roles. Many long term bookers means dates can be limited, but that is a reflection on what a superb place this is!

We followed the recommended directions and arrived at this small, beautiful site. Russ welcomed us and showed us to our large dog friendly pitch.

The sanitary facilities were spotless, which included a washing machine and disabled shower. Everyone was very friendly and tended to meet up in the washing up area!

The walks were excellent and straight from the camp site, hardly a vehicle to be seen. The nearby town, Montignac, was busy and had cafes, shops etc.

The only downside to this site was the lack of wi-fi but probably this would be a plus for some people.

Highly recommended.

I read reviews and take note. Those for this site are 100%! The site was all we had hoped for, quiet and in a beautiful area. Montignac was very busy - but hey - it was in August. On the site there was no disturbance at all. We had a dog fenced pitch (there are now 3) which reduced any worry of wandering dogs. Walking from the site entrance seems to go on for ever. The site and facilities are very well kept and respected by fellow visitors whilst we were there.

Russ welcomed us and we were introduced to Gus (Parson's JRT) and Buba who is the most gorgeous chocolate labrador.

A cross country trip in a modified 2 CV is a must and unique experience.

Suffice to say we have booked for next year!

I love touring, be it with a caravan or with a tent - my husband generally is happy to do short stays only. Suffice it to say that after a three night stay here with Russ as our host it was my husband who wanted to book for a six night stay in September.

We had booked a dog pitch, and were astonished at the size of it. We normally book site with pitches of at least 100 sq. M - but this was huge. Great loo block - quiet at night - masses to do in the area - what more could you ask?

The new owners are very friendly and helpful. Excellent pitches, all hard standing and a reasonable size. The site is kept to an excellent standard and the facilities block is also excellent. Beautiful location with lovely countryside around. Take note of the suggested arrival route. We didn't and arrived by a very steep narrow road, our own fault! Good value for money and we enjoyed an excellent stay. Montingnac is a nice town to visit, particularly on market day, and there is lots to see in the surrounding area. Had a great time.

Wonderful adult only site, 8 pitches with 2 designated pitches fenced off for caravans with dogs. Site on a slope but all pitches fairly level gravel with room for awning.

Electric hook up near to each pitch, 2 water points, 1 at amenities block and 1 half way down site.

Amenities block with 2 showers, 2 toilets, 2 wash hand basins, a disabled bathroom and washing up sink. Showers wonderful, hot water at all times and plenty of room. Handwash and fresh hand towels everyday. This block is kept exceptionally clean. There is also a washing machine in here, operated on an honesty basis, paid for at end of holiday.

Peaceful rural site with great views of countryside, plenty of walking and cycling routes but need a car to get to main towns, supermarket about 20 mins away.

A good days drive from Dunkirk, follow directions given by site when nearing campsite as there are some very narrow roads, not suitable for towing caravans.

Russ and his family are the new owners of this site and are very friendly and helpful. We will definitely go back to this site.

This was the second time we have stayed at La Tournerie, the first being in 2012 when the site was owned by Phil and Wendy.

I don't normally do reviews but this small campsite deserves a mention. It had not changed at all since our last visit - it is an outstanding site if what you are looking for is peace and quiet in beautiful countryside but also want to be close enough to towns and places to visit.

Both Sarlat and Montignac have excellent supermarkets and local shops, easy parking and a wide range of places to eat. All around the site is a network of tracks along which you can walk and cycle for miles - the countryside is full of birdlife, butterflies and great views. Russ took us for an off road tour of the tracks in his customised 2CV to a local viewing point where we watched paragliders taking off - great fun.

The site runs up a slope, is very well maintained - the pitches are well spaced and level and the toilet block is absolutely spotless. Showers are roomy and there is an en suite disabled shower / toilet.

The new owners, Russ and Jayne, were very hospitable, helpful and friendly hosts who are clearly going to make a continued success of the site.
