Great site, on the outskirts of Barnard castle. Short walk into the town, which is well worth a visit.
The Teesdale Way is close by with excellent walking in both directions along the Tees.
Good base and a great site with modern facilities.

Site in a good location and a great layout, however the facilities are not up to the number of pitches on site, at 08:00 on the Friday we were queuing for showers and toilets (6 showers per gender for 95 pitches is somewhat lacking).
Also motorhome users feel they can do as they please running hosepipes across the road to fill the freshwater tanks (using standard pitches as fully serviced pitches) other people attaching hosepipes to the fresh water point to wash their new car ! the wardens were informed but did nothing

First visit to this site, although have been to Barnard castle many times.
Some Covid rules still apply: eg only one masked person in reception at a time. Toilets and showers were fully open although not all cubicles were being used due to it being low season.
Once you have chosen your pitch you return to reception, let them know your pitch number and you are given a fob for the barrier.
Most pitches are level but there are a few where you may need chocks to level from front to back. There are some pitches that may have road noise during the day. Some new pitches are being added and should be ready some time in the new year.
There are at least three CDPs and water/refuse points on the site.
Both TV reception and mobile signals are very good.
The staff were very friendly and the toilets/showers were warm and spotlessly clean.

Ideal location for visiting Barnard castle and surrounding area. Usual C&MC standard of facilities, large pitches and good TV reception.
Site is currently being extended with an additional 10 pitches for the 2022 season.
Tip when walking into Barnard castle, don’t walk along the road which has no pavement and fast moving traffic, but that the footpath (directly outside the site, waymarked ‘Footpath’) and take the delightful wooded riverside glen walk (Deepdale woods), crossing the road and directly into Barnard castle via the Teesdale Way.
Barnard castle has local shops, Morrison’s and Co-op plus family butchers, dog friendly pubs and fish and chip shops – all you could ever need and more besides.
Bowes Museum at Barnard castle is worth a visit however at £ 15. 50/pp (£ 13. 50 concessions) it a tad expensive for the items on display.
Eggleston Abbey is worth a visit, and can be accessed via the riverside walk, and Hury and Baldersdale Reservoirs plus the high moors above with stunning view on clear days are also worth a trip and taking in the county pubs at Romaldkirk and Cotherstone.
Certainly a recommended site if you like visiting and exploring the countryside.

Well maintained C&MC club site within walking distance of the town centre.
Great walks on the Teesdale Way right from the site and accessible to other parts of Teesdale and the North Pennines by car.
Facilities are modern and spotlessly clean.

We stayed here for three nights as a stopover on our way to our main holiday destination but we will certainly go back for longer in future. The site was immaculately kept, extremely clean, and the wardens were so friendly and helpful. Our motor mover broke down when we arrived and the manufacturer had to post us a new control box. The wardens were so helpful and received the parcel for us so that we didn’t have to stay in waiting for the delivery.
There is a lovely walk from the site into Barnard castle through some woodland and we also had another walk in the same woodland going in the opposite direction which was also really lovely, if a little bit rugged! This is not a part of the country that we are very familiar with but we found lots of really interesting looking places that we would like to visit in the future.
Due to Covid19 the toilet blocks were limited to 3 people at a time but as we were using our own facilities, this didn’t really bother us. However I did notice that there were quite long queues most mornings. I suppose this is the price you pay for social distancing!
The pitches were a good size, and those on the sites hills were well terraced and therefore flat which made setting up very easy.
This was a new site and area for us but one that we will definitely be back to!
