Don't have many negatives about this site from my first experience - it was all pretty good! I was pleasantly surprised with the layout which although new and lacking a bit in dividing partitions between the pitches, didn't cause us any issues. Once the site matures I think it will be very attractive.
We had a serviced pitch and you might need extra length cabling and hose for your waste if you've only allowed for a short distance from the service point.
Toilet block is nice and fresh and clean and the showers are amongst the best I've come across. They are new so I guess they should be!
The site is, as stated before, convenient for Barnard Castle which has most things you'd need for your break, e. G. Pubs, supermarket, cafe's, antique shops etc, and it's only a short walk into town.

We arrived at the site at 5 minutes to 12 ( a bit early I know). We were told to pull forward and wait in the car as they didn't open until 12pm. By 12 there were 5 units all lined up.
We were all given a number and told to have caravan club and credit cards ready. At 12 we were asked to get out of the car and line up in order. It felt like we were back at school.
We then went on to check in and were told that they were busy and still had to clean the toilets and that she 'should get a proper' job! We are Australian retirees travelling around the UK.
We have so far been to around 40 sites and this was the most unwelcoming that we have come across so far. Having said that the site itself is very nice. The pitches are large and well spaced and relatively level.
The shower/toilet block was excellent. Heated and lots of hot water. There is a bench in each shower which I like. It's good to put glasses, watch etc.
The shower cubicle is quite large. There is a nice children's playground. It is about 10 to 15 minute walk into Barnard Castle. This is a lovely little town with some nice shops and a few pubs. There is also a Morrisons in the Centre of town.
Bowes Museum is not far away. We didn't go there this time but have been many years ago. One of the best museums I have been to.
All in all a lovely site.

An absolutely excellent site which is kept spotless and includes a modern, heated toilet block with facilities that would shame many hotels. The wardens were very friendly and helpful (only our third outing with a caravan and we're still on a steep learning curve!). Pitches are well laid out with a decent space between each - we were on the inner part of the site but didn't feel crowded in or overlooked. Access is very straightforward and the site is near enough to Barnard Castle to walk into town. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for one night in May on the way back to the North East and managed to get a pitch at the lower part of the site.
We were very impressed as everything is new and its a short walk into the Town where you can find all the shops pubs etc etc.
The pitches are well spaced as per Caravan Club standards and the toilets and facilities are top of the range. We prefer the Country feel of Doe Park as its also not lit up like Las Vegas as per the Caravan Club new site standards.
I'm sure you will enjoy it at ether site. It doesn't seem to have anywhere for kids to play though and can be pricey for non members in high season.

Visited this site without the children first, just to see what it was like. It’s a great site which you would expect being new. Toilet facilities are first class (heated floor) large shower rooms which gives you plenty of space to get dried in a 'dry' area.
Standard of workmanship was disappointing, but that could be just me. The site is well laid out and our service pitch was excellent.Once thr hedges mature it will be great. Bad point is just the noise from the road, Yet this did not bother us.
10~15 walk into town and I would recommend going through the woods down by the river. (Only in dry conditions mind). Lovely route, takes a little longer but nice walk. Taxi back cost us £4 which was Ok. I agree with previous comments about the old well hotel, great beers on sale and food is great.
Bowes museum cost £9 each for adults and children go free. Worth a visit.
Just deciding if we should go back with the kids or leave it our little weekend place without the kids.
But no doubt we will be back.

We stayed here for 4 nights. This was a last minute decision after being diverted from Scotland due to severe weather. We loved this site, every time I stepped into the toilet/shower block it was as though they had just been cleaned. The Fish and Chip van visits Wednesdays and Saturdays - lovely. This site is very new and needs to mature to make it absolutely perfect.
We walked into Barnold Castle every day, we found the walk down the road the best route, it isn't overly busy and cars give you a wide berth anyway. Before the bridge there is a cycle path on the left signposted Barnold Castle 20, this is a nice walk into town, or carry on over the bridge and go straight ahead, there is a bit of an uphill walk into town (think it is uphill whichever route you take). The benefit of this route is the Old Well Inn on the left. Hand pull beers impressed the other half. There are fantastic butchers and deli shops in the town. Also the Golden Lion (think it was Golden - was lion though) serves good beer and excellent value for money food.
We also had a lovely meal at the Riverside Restaurant just over the bridge.
To sum things up we look forward to returning to this site and Barnold Castle.

Our first time at this site and really loved the facilities on offer. Our grandson was so impressed with the showers that he wanted to use them on the Saturday evening, although he had just been in the shower that morning. Not unusual you may say but the only way we would get him to use the showers is only if they are of a very good standard, he found these ones exceptional.
There is a small playground with a notice that children should be supervised by an adult, I totally agree, one of the grandchildren used a bit of apparatus incorrectly and fell off and was hit on the head. Another child later went on the same item and nearly fell but I was able to help him, no one was with him. Please parents and carers be on hand when you have children with you wherever you stay.
The staff were very friendly. Only problem that I found was that there was a lot of road on site, plenty of room for caravan, awning and car but nothing between your unit and the road, so we were constantly on our guard when our grandchildren were outside because they had a tendency to forget that vehicles were often passing, and a lot of them were going faster than the recommended 5mph.
We would definitely go back but may not take the grandchildren again for the above reason.

We stayed for a week.
The site has a few fully serviced pitches but most are the usual hard standing made to the high standard we have come to expect from the Caravan Club. You will need the proper rock pegs when pitching awnings and the gravel has yet to settle properly, it is a brand new site after all.
Showers and washing facilities were fantastic, heated floor was a wow for me. The kids play area looked fine and we did see it used and there is now a dog walk at the bottom of the site, all dogs have to on a lead in the dog walk.
You are alongside the road from Barnard Castle to Lartington, this is not a busy road, nor is it fast, but you can hear each car as it passes by and with the lack of traffic this can, oddly, be more annoying to some than a constant drone. It did not upset me or anyone I spoke to though.
The pitches are easy enough to reverse into, I did read that pitch 15 was a bit of a whatsit and went to investigate. Having paced out the distance past the pitch allowed up to the white pegs I sympathize, there is one car length past the pitch so very hard to get the caravan into the centre of the pitch. Shorter vans and cars, those with movers or fit to push will have no trouble.
This site will only improve as the planting takes hold and the pitches settle, if your thinking of going to this area this would be a great site to use.
Whilst there we went to Bowes Museum, highly recommended, had lunch there too and even if a bit pricey was superb quality. Beamish was about an hours run, had a trip through the Yorkshire Dales and a day out to the Lakes, bit surprised that Keswick was just an hour away. Plenty of local walks.
The wardens were brilliant.

What a brilliant site! Went there together with brother & sister-in-law and their outfit The welcome from the wardens was excellent, cannot praise them highly enough We were unfortunate to have a very bad gale spring up after we had gone out for the day and fellow campers alerted the wardens to the possibility of damage to brother's van from his fast bending awning poles and when we came back it was all sorted
The site facilities were perfect, the underfloor heating felt so luxurious
Barnard Castle is a really interesting town. A visit to the Bowes Museum is a 'must-do'
Try 'The Golden Lion' for reasonably priced meals Steak night on Thursdays is good value for money
We will definitely go back

Stayed over the may bank holiday weekend, first day there the weather wasn`t great so walked to Barny. A nice easy walk in 10 to 15 mins max then the weather picked up so only left the site for provisions (Big Morrisons in Barnard Castle).
The staff were really friendly and helpful on the site it was immaculate with even the stones from the hardstandings swept off the road. Father inlaw called for a bbq and commented that the shower block was akin to a hotel.
This site is brand new and will only get better when the trees and shrubs mature already working out a return visit
