This site could be a winner. It is in a great location with lots going on. However, the site seems to provide extra services such as free wifi and a swimming pool but has neglected the most important basic service, the shower block.
As a touring caravan owner, the most important thing on a site for me is an adequate toilet block with consistent hot running water. On 3 consecutive mornings there was absolutely no hot water in the shower and when there was hot water, it alternated between cold and scolding. For 5 days, I was unable to shower my children and had to give them a strip wash in the caravan. Not ideal when they were getting sandy and grubby on the beach everyday! This hot water issue is apparently common according to one seasonal pitch owner.
The shower block is cleaned everyday by a nice lady but by lunchtime it was dirty again. There is nothing for you to clean the floor before or after your shower like Many sites I have visited. Some hooks on the back of the cubicle door would be useful and some sink cubicles would be nice too. I'm sure removing and cleaning dentures is not something you want to do with an audience!
The hard standing pitches are not very well maintained. They have tiny shingle type stones that follow you into your van on shoes and get everywhere. The pitches are generally unkempt and full of weeds. Some pitches have low overhanging trees which prevent you from going to the back of the pitch with your caravan. This then means less room for your car at the front.
On the plus side, the pool (although very cold despite it being heated) is a good facility to have. We did venture in but the weather was not warm enough for it to be enjoyable.
The location is good and has nice walk to the beach along a quiet road. My daughter learnt to ride her bike along this road. Along the way to the beach there is an aviation museum and very nice cafe at Caernarfon airport.
If some money was invested updating the shower block, I would definitely return. In its current state, I would not recommend this touring site unless you use your caravan shower or don't mind cold ones!

We stayed here for ten days. The pitches are ok, but lined with tiny bits of slate which got into everything. The toilets and showers are old and dirty, I showered with an old plaster in the drain for three nights and dead bugs in webs the entire stay. Very annoying is the fact you have to remember a code to use the toilet, I don't know who they think will be using them apart from us who paid, that they need to secure with a code.
The site is very isolated and down some tight lanes. What nobody ever mentioned is the very busy adjacent helicopter base. I was awoken often by the helicopters taking off at night ( rescue ones )
The dish wash area is old and dirty.
On a positive note, the swimming pool is a good size and the site itself is tidy and well presented.
There is a bar and laundry facilities.

Not sure the review left by donell in October is about Morfa Lodge as it doesn't have an indoor pool, only outdoor which is available to all guests.
The club is also near to the caravan pitches and us not too pricey and has great food. Site is in a lovely situation by Caernarfon airport and a bird reserve, also not far from beach
My only criticism is the toilets could be better, they were clean but floor never dries as no heating. Suggest underfloor heating?

We fancied just a couple of nights away without travelling too far so we chose Morfa lodge, upon arrival there as there was nobody in reception we phoned through to main desk and was told just to pick a spot we liked, that was ok as was not busy.
Visited the restaurant/bar that evening along a very dark and unlit path. Had a couple of rather pricey drinks and walked back again. Next day took a walk around the site, the indoor pool is for park home owners only, which I found a bit unfair. The whole site although nice to look at, we found very boring and lacked atmosphere.
The good thing though is the short walk into town itself, we took a gentle stroll and only took 10 mins and we were at the castle.
Overall its not a site we would consider rushing back too, although if your looking for a base in which to explore Caernarfon this is ideal

Firstly a brief overview of the campsite before I list some individual Pros/Cons.
I hope this review will help those looking for a campsite.
As a Sessional Tourer (March - October) for a few years now I feel that I have learnt a lot over my time on the site and it has some truly lovely aspects.
The journey to the Site from the A55 is never a problem (gave or take holiday traffic) and are widely typical Dual Carriageways that run at 70MPH with a few 50MPH zones.
Leaving the A55 at junction 10 the road becomes single lanes with one step club and decent that takes you into Caernarfon, which is your nearest (shopping town).
Leaving Caernarfon and turning for the Campsite you are hit with a country lane for a few miles.
Please be warned there are drivers on the lane who believe they own the road or indeed believe they drive a vehicle the size of a bus.
Arriving at the campsite you are welcomed on the left by reception and on the right the Pub/Swimming Pools/Small Park and behind the Pub is the site shop.
Directly in front you will see the tourer area that has selection of sized pitches. All hard based and all look even, which is brilliant.
Behind the tourer section is a dozen or so newish and expensive statics that look lovely, they have a lovely view of Snowdon and the other Mountains.
To the left as you arrive are more statics and as you walk around the site it is surprising how many there are and how you don’t feel their presence.
Pros
Shop adequately stocked and priced well
Site is always clean and always see ground workers
Good sized pitches that are hard standing, EHU, & Water on each pitch
Pub food is lovely and quantity is sufficent
The area is lovely you have a small airport that has light aircraft flying over the site, a pebbled beach 10mins walk away and a large (marsh like area) that actual runs over to Caernarfon itself
Kids run the site, if you don’t like kids best to stay out of kids holidays when quieter
The female toilets are to a good standard Soap, Dryers etc all working order
Washing Machine £2 and Dryer 50p
A key is required for the toilets but unfortunately parents do give this to their children who are often found as a group inside - the girls toilet found painting nails etc (that's fine) however the boys often have a small group of typical teenagers - parents please keep your kids in order (thanks :) )
Staff to mention: Shop - Sue (now Left), Pub - Neil, a young Girl who works of an evening along with a young chap who has dark hair and always calls me Sir. All friendly and offer great service.
Cons
Swimming Pool is not heated no matter how much the owner Andy tells you that it is. I have been in other outdoor pools some near and you can tell a massive difference - for this reason unless it is a warm day the swimming pool is quiet.
The pool needs a good cleaning more regularly - although this maybe me picking as how can you stop kids getting in with dirty feet - perhaps have a basin and shower for people to use?
Sue (as mentioned above), was great and was a massive part of the site, but has recently left meaning that the shop that opened 9 - 6 is now open only 9-11 and 9-12. For me this is not good as the shop should be opened the same time regardless to staffing issues. I am told in an emergency someone from reception will try and come over - does children wanting a 20p mix warrant?
The mens toilets are often dirty (they do clean each morning), the hand wash is often watered down too much so it results in a oil feeling that does not wash your hands.
The dryers are useless, none are powerful enough to dry your hands
Dog Poo has increased on the site (owners please pick it up - there are sufficient “Poo Bins” available.
A lane in-between the site and the Airport has now been renamed - Poo Lane, what should be a nice walk is now a dodging game of who can avoid such mess.
The site needs some sort of board at reception that could display the following - Tide and Weather Information, Wanted/For Sale etc
Static season runs March - Jan good for them for two months more then tourers
Receptionist although not bad does lack something when it comes to customer service.
Don’t order the Friday Special Burger and Drink if you are hungry - I did and what came where a few chips a with a small burger and bun, nothing else I’m afraid and unlike their other burgers this was not worth it, I even had to add 50p for my choosen pint :(
Complaining to the owners (two brothers) you are given a defensive reply rather then them acknowledging that you pay a premium for a seasonal pitch and come back year on year so to try and understand take feedback as given and try to move forward.
After the post you maybe in two minds…….
Overall it is a site that I would and do come back to so that should say everything, however there are always areas to improve and feel that some of the cons listed could be implemented easily.

Excellent site well kept, good pitches close to beach and bus stop. What else can I say, been here a few times the only thing I will say is the shower blocks need updating, but saying this they are clean.
Pool lovely even if a little on the cool side, food good value and staff very friendly.
Great place for familys.

As there hasn't been a review on this site for 12 months thought I would add my views following our recent 3 night stay.
After checking in with the not particularly welcoming but not unfriendly female receptionist and pitching up, for some reason which neither of us can put our finger on both myself and my wife's initial impression was that the site was nothing special. However after a couple of hours settling in we both came to the conclusion that we were wrong and we loved the place!
The touring area, which appears to have a large proportion of seasonal pitches, although busy was well spaced and the plots are large, each with hardstanding, water, electric and your own grassed area. The toilet block was clean with plenty of hot water although the showers could probably do with a bit of a spruce up and the majority of the hand dryers didn't work!
The static dominated site itself is well spaced out with large grassed areas and is excellently located at the end of a peninsular so has great views and has a nature reserve on one side and the excellent beach 10 minutes walk away on the other with the small 'resort' of Dinas Dinlle and its few shops and cafés another 10-15 mins or so seafront walk further on.
The small Caernarfon airport/aerodrome next door provides entertainment during the day (no night flights) with the comings and goings of several small planes, microlights and the Welsh air ambulance but it is never obtrusive and I can highly recommend the small air museum if you're into that sort of thing.
The site clubhouse is welcoming and serves excellent freshly prepared food at a reasonable price and do the best burgers we have had for quote some time.
Our 8 year old daughter loved the pool area and kids play facilities.
So in spite of our initial reservations I have no hesitation in recommending Morfa Lodge, top value for money and we will definitely be returning

Arrival was welcoming and helpful. Hardstanding pitch was level with good facilities. Bar not open on Mondays/Tuesdays in low season but not a problem for us. Good shop and a what looked like a clean swimming pool. The rest of the grounds were very well kept with a huge number of static caravans. The toilet block was not very clean and it was obvious (won't go into details) that during our short stay no one had been in to clean the toilets. Motorhomers info - there is no grey water disposal facility. On Wednesday mornings at about 6. 30am the binmen arrive and drive through the site to empty the industrial wheelie bins. It was very noisy. Views of Snowdonia are exceptional and if you are an aeroplane/helicopter fan then it's really interesting watching the landings and take offs at the airport next door.

We came to this site for a few days in June and I must say I was most impressed. We arrived mid week to find the site very quiet (it was heaven). The pool was closed due to there being no one on the site, I enquired if the pool was open and he opened it for us with no question, he was very friendly and so was the lovely ladies in reception and the shop. This site has excellent facilities the pools are clean and well maintained. The shop was very well stocked (and cheaper than most supermarkets). The on site bar was excellent we had a take out for tea on our last night and it was most enjoyable. The toilets were very clean all of the time. There are plenty of available walks around the site if you have dogs we loved it. I would recommend this site to anyone. We really did have a excellent time and hope to return next year.

Just returned home from a three night stay at Morfa Lodge. Its a lovely well kept site. Nice and clean. Toilets and showers were always clean an tidy. The only down side was that the slate hardcore used on the touring pitches carried in everywhere the caravan was full of it when we got home. The children loved the on site pool. We didn't use the on site bar but it did look very nice. The early morning views of the snowdonia mountain range were stunning.
