 Can get to this site by train to Tweedbank then walk along Southern Uplamds way/Border Abbeys Way route.
This site takes tents April-September, which is great as so many sites no longer alow tents. Small tent area but well grassed and kept purely for tents (which is great).
Facilities good though slightly tired. £25 per night for solo backpacker tent a little steep but ok.
No kitchen or drying facilities or inside room for rainy days and no picnic benches - but I think this campsite is mostly aimed at caravans and campers.
A stone's throw from Melrose town with plenty coffee shops and eateries and the Co-op.

This is a small level site just on the edge of the town. This means that it is not particularly spacious and some of the pitches are very close to some houses. However the advantage of this position is that there is a Co-op right next door and the shops and bars of the town can be reached on foot.
Facilities block is a bit tired but kept spotlessly clean and tidy by the very friendly staff. Each block is closed for 30 minutes in the morning but an alternative loo is available. The showers were hot and powerful.
We paid £46 per night for a hard standing pitch with hook up for a caravan and 2 adults, this was with the caravan club member pricing.
There is lovely cycling nearby on the 4 Abbeys route, we just did part of it cycling to the bustling town of Kelso for a lovely lunch in the Cream Chimneys café in the main square.

We really like the town of Melrose, it's a proper Borders town with lots of good shops, restaurants, pubs and the beautiful River Tweed.
The surrounding countryside is stunning, full of historic houses and castles. We love the lack of traffic!
The site isn't 'pretty' but it's very functional, with the normal noises of a small town going about its business, noisier when the adjacent school is 'in term-time', but quiet at night.
Site facilities are a little dated but kept immaculately clean and tidy by the friendly wardens.
As others have said, we think prices for CAMC sites are just getting too high now.

Great site situated in the town which has lovely shops, cafés, places of interest and walks.
The site itself is in need of an upgrade but like any CMC site, there are plenty of facilities immaculately kept.
It is next to a park, houses and a school so it can be noisy during the day but we found it peaceful at night.

Nice site just in town centre so good links for whole area.
Toilet / shower blocks usual good quality.
Friendly staff on arrival. Nice big pitches.
Did a good walk up the Eildon hills and over to Dryburgh and got a bus back.
Paid £91 for 3 nights inc EHU.

Having seen queues at the entrance in the past, we arrived early afternoon; the manager was welcoming and pointed out the few pitches that were available for us to choose from, we took one that was well screened by a tall hedge.
It's best to pay for a pitch "with awning" even if you're not going to use it, as the "no awning" pitches are less appealing - like a tarmac car park. Little benefit to paying for a Serviced pitch as the site is so small that fresh water and grey disposal points are very close to all the pitches.
I see reviews criticising the toilets & showers, but they were spotless and we were thankful that they only closed for 30 minutes for cleaning.
The site is noisy until late (though not in an unpleasant way), as it's next door to floodlit tennis courts and rugby pitches. The on-site dog walk is tiny, plenty of walks by the river and farther afield; the King's Arms allows dogs.
It was eye wateringly expensive at a weekend, even as CAMC members, but there are no other sites in the area, and Melrose has much to offer. Trimontium Museum is interesting. Buses go to Galashiels (for the Great Tapestry of Scotland), Selkirk, Hawick (quality woollen mills), Kelso (Floors castle) etc. Worth taking the Waverley Line train from Tweedbank to Edinburgh, it's a very scenic route.

This is a small level site right on the edge of the town centre, so some of the pitches are right up against some houses. Most of the HS pitches have a small strip of grass between the pitches and at the back.
Unfortunately we were given a pitch that was on tarmac and had no adjacent grass, so it felt a bit bleak and like a car park. It was fine for 2 nights, but I would not have wanted to stay any longer.
The toilet block was kept clean and tidy and the staff were very welcoming.
Melrose is a very pretty town with many places to eat, a small Co-op right next to the site and lots of independent craft and art galleries.
Heading up and out of town finds you on the Eildon Hills very quickly - the ascent is quick and steep but the views are worth it.
Melrose seems to have many signposted walks, including the St Cuthbert’s Way

Nice Town. Peaceful site in central location.
Stayed here a couple of times. Nice walks along Tweed for dogs.
Well run site with roomy pitches. Showers hot and roomy enough.
For tv access you need a cable to attach.
Pricy if not a caravan club member, but in December, when I visit it’s the only camp open in its area

As per previous reviews, excellent site - for us the main attraction being it's in the middle of town.
Some lovely shops and eateries as well as fabulous walks, several of which start in the village.
The loos and showers are typical CAMC standard, always clean, warm and never any queues.
As site is always full seemed strange that a full section of 'blue' non awning pitches not in use behind reception as well as 2 at the opposite end of site.

Excellent, well run site.
In middle of lovely town. Plenty of shops, eating places and hotels are an excellent standard.
Plenty of interesting walks from site.
Please stop kids cycling around sites. Regular bus service from town and rail facility close by.
Toilets are tired and badly in need of upgrade.
Well worth a visit.
