Just back from a long weekend here and absolutely loved it. Very clean site, really peaceful, park next door for the kids, shops a short walk away, and the brilliant weather made it really special.
The shower blocks were spotless, and the wardens are lovely, really helpful and friendly.
I cant praise Gibson park enough, its a cracking site in a stunning location and a credit to the club and the wardens.
Cant wait to go back.

A great site for staying at if your in a motor home, it's right on the doorstep of the town.
Also very handy for touring in the Borders. Have visited many times and we are never disappointed with the welcome we receive from the Wardens.
Very clean showers and a well maintained site. The local pubs are very friendly to the tourists and the local shops a welcome change from the 'normal high street'

I really cannot add much regarding the site as it maintains the excellent standards as previously stated.
It is however worth a mentioning the town and facilities. The butchers shop about 200 yards from the site supplies meat of the highest standard but more importantly it supplies ready meals in a variety of nationalities and I can thoroughily recommend them. These are ideal for us 'transients'. The bakery a few doors away has a huge variety of breads etc.
There are numerous cafes and restaurants (some a bit pricey) in the town.
Bus services are available from outside the site to almost anywhere in the borders ie. Berwick and Edinburgh and all points in between.

Nothing more to add to my review - previous reviews have said it all. We have had a fab week in a lovely quaint town with plenty of places to walk, relax, eat and drink.
The most important comment I would like to add is the helpfulness and friendliness of Ian and Teresa, relief wardens -they were outstanding - so friendly, helpful, warm, cheery and couldn't do enough for you.
Nice to see that Melrose has managed to maintain itself as a small town which has successful small businesses and not been overtaken by the usualy supermarkets.
Looking at previous reviews I think we may try to book up for New Year as I can imagine this town coming alive. Cant wait for our next visit.
I almost don't want to review this site so that people don't find out about it!

Stayed here for two nights can see why its always busy. Great clean site a 2 min walk and your in the town. Had a walk round the shops only shop I didn't see was the candle stick maker. Had lunch in the ship inn it let us in with the dog. The dog walk on site was a bit muddy. Sat and sun morn you can watch kids playing football and rugby or you can watch melrose play rugby. The wardens nice and always busy about the site. Cant wait to go back.

As always this site was busy and easy to see why when its so well kept and literally in the village. We did notice the 'Site Full' remained up at all times - despite there being 4-5 pitches empty every night?
All facilities are normal high CC standards. Good sized hardstanding pitches with grass between and some hedging. To the left the pitches back onto the gardens of local houses and are a little overlooked. To the right more open but the school is there so a little noise in the day from playgrounds and in the evenings from the playing fields. The best pitches are at the top of the site or in the middle if you want quiet and privacy.
Melrose is wonderful. Plenty to do with the Abbey, several antique and gift shops to browse in, a number of hotels and so much gorgeous food to buy from the butchers and bakers in town.
Several good walks and cycle rides in the area. A walk along the Tweed is a must and less than 2 miles of easy cycle or walk takes you to the restored Leaderfoot viaduct - incredible structure.
Hard to fault this site perfect for the immediate area but a great base for exploring further into the Borders.

Beautiful little site in the Scottish borders. The pitches are lovely and spacious, hard standings are very flat. The pitches are separated by grassed areas and hedges.
The site feels very relaxed and spacious. Behinds there is a dedicated dog walk - sadly we don't have dogs any more but it looks excellent! There is a play area just outside the site which kept our 5 year old entertained.
Melrose offers everything you need including butchers, bakers and a co op/Spa literally 1 minute walk away from the site. There is an entry/exit barrier to the site controlled by a contact key card.
The toilets/showers are as you would expect from a caravan club site - immaculate! You are given 2 keys for the toilet blocks as they are kept locked. The staff were friendly and helpful on our arrival.
There is wifi access on site. Minor niggle is that I prefer camping & caravan site wifi as you pay for 1 day, 7 days or a year, whereas caravan club sites sell you it in hours - we bought 5 hours but you must be careful to make sure you log out when finished (this is relating to the Caravan Clubs policy though not the site!).
In summary, this is a beautiful site offering something for everybody! Will definitely recommend and can also recommend spending £2 on the Melrose Walks book from reception. We did some incredible walks from this book - the best being Eildon Hill North, not easy but the views were worth it!

Our second stay for the New Year and I must say the best so far the site was clean tidy and the staff fantastic they were only doing a temporary I believe 8 week duty but they were helpful always a cheery word and a smile and on New Years Eve provided drinks and nibbles for the site these were very tasty and plenty full. Full marks to them both. As usual the toilets were clean, warm and with plenty of hot water a small wait in the morning for showers but I always shower early evenings and had no problem. Plenty of shops, bars and eating places 5 minutes walk away into town, just across the next door car park where there was all the recycling facilities you need. New Years Eve celebrations started with a local pipe band just before the countdown to midnight then a fantastic firework display. We will be back again (PS some great decorated caravans well done to the owners).

Simply fantastic site which contrary to a couple of comments, in my opinion, is very easily located. The site is located on your left hand side as you travel in from town, signposted and immediately opposite Melrose RFC.
Usual immaculate site and high standards you come to expect from the Caravan Club with large pitches providing plenty of room and adequate privacy. Washrooms were beautifully warm and very clean. Lovely, friendly, helpful wardens and a well stocked information room.
There's a very good children's play area about 50m from the site entrance but our boy wasn't interested once he'd seen the salmon (more later).
Melrose is a gem of a town with nice independent shopping, a museum, coffee shops and hotels/pubs. A few of the pubs/hotels offer CC members a 10% discount so hunt down those bargains!
Our visit coincided with a very good run of salmon up the Tweed so we spent some time watching their antics in the river behind the bowling club and were further rewarded with a very close encounter with an otter for our trouble.
We look forward to going back asap.

We're just back from spending an enjoyable 4 nights on a serviced pitch at this site. There is limited availability for these pitches, but nowhere is too far from the water and toilet facilities, and all pitches are hard standing.
The TV bollards give all the freeview digital channels.
The toilets could do with more frequent cleaning when there are children staying on the site but otherwise this small site is kept clean and neat by the friendly wardens, with plenty of hot water in the ablution blocks.
Melrose is very easily accessible on foot and a manageable size with several independent retailers. Don't miss the Abbey Woollen Mill just beyond Melrose Abbey - excellent teas/coffees and good value snacks and meals.
Also try The Buccleuch Arms Hotel at St. Boswells. Dog friendly and good food and friendly bar staff/waiters.
As previously noted the site entrance sign is still obscured by branches if heading from the town end and the site could easily be missed.
All in all a good small level site, well situated for exploring the area.
