Arrived just after 5pm - to 'Site Full' sign - rang bell to be told we were lucky someone had just this minute cancelled - told we should have booked as magazines clearly show booking required. Site spotless immaculately clean and well kept. However, we did notice the 'Site Full' sign stayed up permanently for days - even though a few empty pitches.

Good on site facilities, clean and warm with excellent showers. Helpful and attentive staff. This is a flat site, across the road from the Melrose RFC ground. We visited for the rugby 7's 125th celebrations and although the town was taken over for most of the weekend there was an excellent ambience in the locale with well behaved young and old. The campsite remained a haven of tranquility throughout. Good shops in Melrose with excellent quality butchery in particular. There is alternative shopping in Galashiels approximately 4 miles away with large Asda and Tesco. Excellent walking area with many routes to choose from. Well worth a visit is Abbotsford House (Sir Walter Scott). Although TV reception poor the wardens will rent out a cable for hook up. Several caravans did have satellite systems which appeared to work well.

Visited this site for 2 nights over new year. This site is actually in Melrose itself - the town is really literally a stones throw away, but it is still a nice quiet site. Melrose is a lovely little town with very friendly people. The site itself is a small site with very friendly wardens and lives up to the usual Caravan Club standards (spotless toilets, nice and warm etc.) We really enjoyed our stay here and Melrose had a 'gathering' in the town square at midnight to see in the new year with fireworks etc.
The Kings Arms was our favourite pub - a warm friendly atmosphere and dog friendly.
There are some nice walks along the river which is just across the road and Melrose Abbey is just around the corner.
We would definitely return here in the future.

Have visited this site twice. Lovely setting in beautiful border town.Plenty of local shops, hotels, bakers and butchers all within five minute walk from site. Facilities are spotless and pitches are hard-stand and generous. Toilets are spotless. Good bus service to other towns. A must for a relaxing visit. P.S. King Robert Bruce'sHeart buried in Melrose Abbey!

May 2004 2nd time here and highly recommend it. Excellent playpark next door for kids, tennis club also (public welcome). Right in middle of town. 2 minute walk to shops. Great base for touring around. Pitches flat and easy to get pegs in. No nail gun required! Usual high standard of caravan club. Quite but kids welcome.
