I go to this site every year for a month. This is a simple family run site it has all the facilities you need that are clean and fit for purpose.
There are some interesting points that make it stand out (to me) a putting green, waterwheel, children’s play area and a small swimming pool (never been in), and not to forget the donkeys!
The site also produces it own apple juice, well it is Somerset, which is delicious and other local goodies make their way into the camp shop.
Although facilities were not open this year I am sure as the pandemic recedes this will go back to normal.
This is a quiet site perfect for older peoples but also with enough to entertain the kids

We stayed here as a family (2 adults, 3 children and a dog) over the 2019 late May Bank Holiday and really enjoyed our 4 nights/5 days away. This is a great base for local walking and has all the basics you need to have a great peaceful time away.
We stayed in the camping field next to the donkeys and had a pitch that was nice and level, had mains power and tons of space. The kids really enjoyed the small golf course, play area, watching the donkeys, the small boating lake and also having loads of areas that are safe for them to walk and train our dog.
Only one thing to point out is that the camping field is a bit of a walk from the very clean shower block.
The site has all the basic essentials you need for a great holiday, I can’t recommend this site highly enough for a great family time away.

We have just got back from visiting this site and I have to say that it is a really lovely peaceful place.
We have a campervan and a tent, 3 kids and a dog and to be honest were a little panicked when we arrived and saw all of the caravans.
Our kids are noisy and love to run around and I thought we would be sniffed at by grumpy caravanners. Thankfully though we were shown to the camping field on the other side of the owners house. It was a bit of a walk from the toilets and showers but I felt much happier there. We were the only campers for the entire week which was actually quite a luxury!
The playground, streams and boating area are lovely, it's all weathered and much loved but my kids were very happy. They also loved the little swimming pool and went in almost every day although they all scraped their feet on the sharp tiles so keep your Crocs on.
The little shop has a few basics but really not much so don't rely on getting your tea there.
It does sell homegrown apples, eggs and tomatoes though.
Unfortunately the toilets seemed to have a permanent unpleasant smell, they seemed clean but the smell made me feel sick every time I went in, although my kids didn't seem to mind!
The showers were pretty awful. Basically swimming pool showers which are fine if you need a little rinse but not so good if you have three small kids and have to keep pressing the button every few seconds and the shower head is fixed 6 foot up.
You get a sense that this campsite is slightly frozen in time, probably some time in the 1960's. This isn't a terrible thing, it is very pretty and the family who run it are very helpful and friendly. The streams and paths are lovely. It's quaint and all a bit weathered.
I'm afraid I'm not a fan of caravans and I couldn't help thinking that if they got rid of all of them and let people camp in all of the fields, sorted out the showers and the dodgy smell it could be the best campsite ever!
However I do understand that they have to make a living and sadly caravan owners are the bread and butter.

This site really works for us on a number of counts:
- it is quiet, clean & tidy and has great space between pitches.
- it doesn't have a bar with rowdy elements (not that I'm against drinking but somehow the edge is taken off my holiday when giggling and noisy people are struggling to get to their caravan 'after hours'!).
- it has really beautiful surroundings and settings. The grass is regularly trimmed and still on site, there are areas to exercise dogs in safety.
- the people who run the place are genuine and interested in making your stay as good as it can be. They smile and say good-morning.
- it is economic to stay at.
- there are adequate showers and loos and they are close to 3 of the 4 fields, but a 'camping only' field is about 100m away which could be a problem late at night. Getting the best from the press-button showers is a learned knack - just don't fully depress it and the water comes gushing out.
- although there are people about, with 50% of the pitches set to being seasonal, the site is never really busy.
- DONKEYS! There are three. They are cute. Children love them.
- there is a spiders-web of footpaths and walks which can be made directly from the site to 2 or 3 local pubs, a well-stocked community shop, churches and the Quantock hills - fabulous.
- children love the place because of the Donkeys and freedom to roam.
As with any place, there are couple of itches such as the occasional smell that comes from the local farm, but you are bound to get that as the site is in the middle of the countryside! Getting the time right to bring a caravan on/off the site has to be carefully judged as tractors use the lane which leads to the main road, but again it's what you get from a site in the countryside. Some people who are looking to be 'entertained' on holiday might find the place a bit too quiet and restful.
Us - we love it and have returned consistently over the past 13 years.

Currypool Mill. What can one say about Currypool Mill? Charming, peaceful, and unhurried spring to mind. Along with smelly, slightly scruffy, and lacking in facilities.
We decided to take a late break during the last week of the school summer holidays, and after reading some reviews on this website, we thought we'd give Currypool Mill a go for a week under canvas. Our initial impression of the site as we came in on the A39 was of the most mind numbing, sinus freezing stench of either pig pooh or raw sewerage. We weren't sure which and we didn't want to find out either. This followed us along the lane to the site entrance, which if you're in anything longer than a Volvo estate is an exciting 120 degree left turn, followed by a choice of tight manouvres through various buildings to get to the camping field.
Once you're on the site and pitched up though, it's fabulous. Very peaceful with stunning views, amazingly friendly staff and with fresh air that you could bottle and take home. This air of relaxation lasts right up to the point that you feel the need for the loo and realise that you have a 400 yard walk to the toilets with a full bladder, and the accompanying thought that later that day you'll also have to do it again, after sunset and in pitch darkness. Unless you do what we did and take a toilet tent and a Porta Potti with you.
The toilets and washrooms, when you do get to them, with knees and crutch firmly clenched, are best described as adequate. 3 loos for ladies, 2 cubicles and 3 urinals for the gents, and 2 showers for each gender. But be warned. The showers are a total joke. The water is nice and hot, but where is it? They work on a continental push button system that doesn't work. You have to a, Push the little chrome button on the riser pipe. B, Wait while the water begins to dribble out of the alleged shower heads. C, Grab your sponge and shower gel just in time for the water to fizzle to a halt. And d, begin the process all over again. Oh, and there's a sign that warns you not to press the button more than 10 times because it empties the water tank and the next person in gets a cold shower. I found 10 presses on the 'strangely' very worn button just about enough time to get organised before I actually began to take a shower.
The drinking water standpipe on the camping field seems to be running at about 250psi of pressure, which is easily enough to blast the bottom clean out of most commonly available water carriers. The washing machine in the launderette leaks like an incontinent elephant, but for some bizarre reason you still have to pay 20p via a slot meter to wash your pots. We were told that they charge for hot water because people were taking buckets of the stuff and using it to wash their cars. On their holidays? Really?
The site though, apart from the pong, the dodgy showers and having to find 20p to wash a frying pan and a couple of plates, is a total gem. The grass is kept nice and short, there are flowers in tubs and borders, donkeys to say good morning to, chickens and ducks, swifts in the sky, a couple of charming streams to just stare into, unobtrusive site owners, loads of space to just relax and kick back, and the most amazing dark sky at night. You can see virtually every star in the Milky Way. While we were there the night sky was stunning.
There is also a really nice play area that our 4 year old virtually lived in the whole time that we were there. A handy little shop on the site, or if you're feeling more adventurous, a Spar shop just down the road in Cannington and on top of that, virtually every major supermarket about 4 miles away in Bridgwater.
Beaches aren't as close as we thought they'd be, but we drove up to Burnham on Sea and down to Minehead on a couple of days, both about a half hour drive away from the site.
I'd give the site 6 out of 10 because although it's peaceful, stunning, well kept, et al, the facilities are hopeless. It seems as though the toilets, washrooms, EHU's, leaky launderette, shop, bins, chemical toilet disposal are all in the caravan field while the camping field is an after thought with zero facilities apart from 4 EHUs for the whole field, a dog pooh bin, because the camping field is on the way to the dog walking area. And no set pitches, which I'd imagine could be 'fun' during a busy week.
Would I go back? It was cheap enough at around £16. 50 per night with EHU, but I think I'd rather spend a couple more pounds a night on showers that work properly and toilets that aren't quite so smelly and don't involve a route march at 3am with a full bladder and a 4 year old child with tummy ache in tow. So possibly not.
And that is a real shame, because it could be the perfect site with a little more investment and a lot more thought.

My family and I had a wonderful weekend break at Currypool Mill Campsite. The owners and staff were very warm and welcoming and we were shown around where all the facilities were located and shown where we could pitch our tent. The toilets and shower block were easily accessible and were kept very clean. The children had a lot of open space to play and we're happy throughout our stay. There are lots for the children to do. There is a play area which includes swings and slide, a boating lake, putting and a small indoor pool. The children especially loved making a fuss of the donkeys. In the evening it was very quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to going again.

Fantastic site, not far from a nice beach. The site is located in a beautiful part of the country and so peaceful and quiet. The facilities on site are clean and everything you could ask for. Everyone on site are so friendly and helpful. On site shop has those little necessities you always forget and they have a great local knowledge to advise if you need things to do. I would highly recommend for camping they have electric hook up points and absolutely fantastic value for money.

We first got to know about Currypool Mill when we bought our vintage caravan that happened to live there, that was five years ago! We have been coming ever since. Currypool Mill is quite special, a real getaway from it all site. Family run and friendly - Rene is always helpful, friendly and accommodating.
The site is really beautiful with the mill race running through the grounds. The swans and ducks often bring their babies into the gentle waters there. There is a lot for children - playing fields, a little boating pond and a small indoor pool, not to mention the donkeys and the putting field.
We go to Currypool Mill for the peace and quiet of the camping field and enjoy watching the rabbits and bird life in the summer evenings. There are some amazing walks and cycle rides in the area, and a few good pubs. The Quantocks are really close, as is the coast. Bridgwater is 20 minutes away and has several big supermarkets, however the camp site shop stocks all the essentials should you have forgotten something - as well as their locally produced apple juice and other apply goodies which are delicious! The loo/shower blocks are always spic and span.
We always feel so welcome at Currypool Mill and that is worth returning for year after year.
Ps Rene, don't change anything! :)

We have been coming to this site for a few years after it was recommended to us by a friend. We love coming to this site as it is always peaceful and the staff are friendly and helpful. The shower and toilet blocks are well maintained and cleaned regularly.
The children always make good use of the park area and large green space. We always enjoy our weekends away here and look forward to returning shortly.
