 On arrival to Currypool for the 8th year running with my family of four with children now 9 and 6 we never get bored of this place.
Lovely peaceful site feels like you are right out in the sticks, This site has always been friendly, clean and tidy hence we go back time after time, facilities are spot on, clean toilet blocks plus FREE showers, nice playing filed, little park for the children and for the warmer months a stream runs through the site that the children play in and the water mill is so lovely to wake up to in the morning.
You wouldn't be disappointed with this place, if its just a nice peaceful place you want or even a stop gap to rest for the night I love it.
Hoping to book again in the next couple of months.

Our arrival on site did not begin with a particularly good impression. The entrance to this site would not be suitable to either a twin tag motorhome or anything over 7. 5m due to the sharp bend, narrowing and incline into the main site. (see photo)
On arrival the overwhelming smell of raw sewage greeted me as I wound down my window to get pitch directions from the site owner. Further enquiry illicted the information that the drains had been blocked for two days. We had booked a 'hardstanding pitch' and were further dismayed to be shown to a a choice of two pitches each with two strips of concrete with a strip of mud between that and the concrete service road. This is the first time we have come across such hardstanding and the interior of our van was soon suffering from the inadequate provision.
The majority of pitches in the field we had been assigned to were seasonal lets. Many caravans had long grass creeping up their awnings, which made the area look particularly unkempt. Many have spoken of spacious pitches, however the awning of the caravan adjacent to us was less than 2 metres from our van. Is this spacious?
The toilets were clean, but the showers were, as previous reviewers have stated poor, and really not fit for purpose and would benefit from replacement. No secondary door to act as a airlock, means that there was a constant draught from outside. Again not too much of an issue in August but in cooler seasons it would be very unpleasant.
The on site shop is quaint, but handy if you did forget an essential item. There is a convenience store at Nether Stowey for a greater range of goods and several larger stores in Bridgewater 4 miles away.
The site does have a dedicated dog walking area, but we chose to walk our dogs on a circular route by walking along the footpath that can be reached by walking along the track past the reservoir. The footpath leads up the hill to a small lane, Turn left down the lane and after a 15 minute walk you reach the A39, Turn left again walking along the well kept broad verge, you will see the turning to the lane on which the campsite sits. In total about a 30/40 minute walk, depending on your pace and how often your canine stops to investigate smells etc.
Eateries. We have previously visited the Cricketer's which is towards Nether Stowey along the A39 only a short drive. Lovely food and local produce. We have also eaten at the Hood arms at Kilve. This pub is 'dog friendly' and your pet will be welcome.
In conclusion, the site at under £16. 00 for us and the dogs was cheap enough but the pitch, facilities and the smell made this stay memorable for the wrong reasons.

Been searching for a site within close proximity to brean & Exeter & we plumped for this one. Just returned from our 2 night stay at the site & we loved it. Easy to find( thanks sat-nav). Approximately 15 mins from junction 23 of the m5. So much so that we are keeping our van on site for the summer period. Owners rene & David made us feel very welcome & gave us a tour of the site & all the things to do on site. Very clean site, large dog walking area-small boating lake-small children's park. Small on site shop selling bread/milk/eggs. Animals it's like a mini zoo- donkeys-chickens-rabbits! 2 showers (free) washroom were very clean & tidy. Laundrette area. Mrs pickles tea room with fresh cakes. Tow your caravan to pitch for you(small charge)All in excellent site with fantastic link to Weston super mare/ brean /North Devon/ South Devon. Can't wait to return.

Looked like this was the nearest site for a visit to bridgewater for the carnival, could do with a few more signs, not sure if it could be found in the dark!, only booked for one night then parked o/night in bridgewater. Site was nice & tidy, not sure if reception was in the small shop?, anyway I assume the cheery lady that welcomed us was the owner suggested the first field on the left would suit the motorhome, there's a sort of piece of tarmac I backed onto done the job, although I'm not sure of the 'strips' around the field would be ok. As a previous reviewer stated the showers/toilets were all clean &tidy, the only issue was the 'notice' for the use of the pushbutton showers. It looked like it meant if you pushed the button over 12 times the shower ran out of water. Mine took 2 pushes to get warm & another 6 to have a shower, my partner didn't wash her hair just in case the shower went off. A disappointing thing was the 20p for hot (warm) water for dish washing, we had a stroll around the opposite field (great area for kids to play various games etc in & a bit of a park, also a few donkeys nearby to pet)we also found the site indoor 'swimming pool'. The cost for the 2 of us/motorhome & electric was good at £13-75 p/n, I'd stay there another time, although there's nothing going on in the area in walking distance.

Perfect. A friendly welcome. Dog-friendly. The site is lovely; flat, secluded in parts, beautiful flower and shrub beds a-plenty with a stream and leat passing through. All really well cared for. Smashing loos and shower and dish wash room; ultra clean with nice homely finishing touches. The view of the Quantocks is great. Super dog walking area, large ball playing area, children's' play area, pitch and putt, games, recycling. Quiet and secluded. Very reasonably priced (£12 campervan with 2 persons - end of July).
Sadly, we were passing through the area and were only able to stay for one night, but will definitely return to this site and explore the area.

Stayed here for Spring Bank half term week, the site was noticeably quiet considering it was a school holiday.
We were the only tent on site so the owner put us in one of the three caravan fields so we'd be near everyone else, very thoughtful of her! We have quite a large tent and I'd prewarned her about that on booking, so the pitch we had was a good size, plenty of room and fairly flat. (Although after checking around the site I realised all the tent pitches were a generous size. ) Hedges separate each field and are full of birds singing, quite lovely to sit and watch the wildlife.
The tent pitches are located at the opposite side of the campsite (2 have EHU), near the playground and the resident donkeys. Field looked nice for camping in, we wouldn't have minded being in there, except for having to open and close two gates to enter the field (because of the donkeys).
The playground was excellent, lots of swings and a big slide, big field to play ball games in, a stream running through the site for pond dipping, a small pond with a boat that you can row about on (apparently there was a missing rowlock so no boating occurred during our visit), and a croquet lawn/9-hole putting green (all equipment available to borrow). My children (age 9 and 6) spent a lot of time over there playing.
There's a little shop (open Mon-Sat 10-11 am) that sells camping accessories and limited food essentials (and sweets!). Adjacent to the shop is a charity shop selling old camping gear, books, and clothing (we donated an old lantern), and with tourist information leaflets.
The toilet and shower block is central to the site and easily accessed from the caravan fields (would be a tedious walk from the tent field in the middle of the night). There are 2-3 toilets and two showers separate for men and women (no family room); they were always clean and we never had to queue but there was an odd sluice thing running through the block that was obviously designed to remove water but was full of fluff and made the block smell sometimes). The showers are push button and don't stay on for long (we were warned by the owner that they are very cold to start with; it was nice to have a warning even though most camp showers are pretty cold to start with/all the time).
Lots of signs in the toilets reminding caravaners to use the correct toilet fluid (don't dream of using the blue one) and listing all the rules. Shame the rules aren't on the website so we could memorise them in advance rather than while brushing teeth. Another sign asks us not to take the hot water but rather to purchase it for 20p from the washing-up area (located at the rear of the toilet block). 20p basically unlocks the hot tap, but it didn't get hot enough to wash up with, save your 20p and boil a kettle.
Quite an extensive selection of recycling and rubbish bins, nice to be able to recycle like we do at home.
Overall, a bit of a hidden gem of a site.
Location is good, off the A39 and close to Bridgwater. There's a Morrison's and Sainsbury's for food shopping, and a small Spar in Cannington. During our stay we visited Minehead, Taunton, and Weston-super-Mare, all less than an hour drive away. For those who like walking, the Quantock Hills are on the doorstep; we did the circular walk at Great Wood and Ramscombe, very easy for children (2 miles on easy paths, £2 to park). Dunster Castle is not far away (although we didn't visit this time), and you must (not) visit the Bakelite Museum in Williton (we did, it's 'the world's largest collection of vintage plastics' and in our defense it was raining. )

We stayed here just 1 night, and found this a nice quiet country park, mainly caravans were pitched with awnings, and looked like they were seasonal. We had a pitch on hard standing, suited us perfectly with water and electric supply close by. It was very dark at night, no lighting at all, but the solar lights at various caravans provided some colourful lighting. Prepare by taking a torch with you! the toilet and shower block very clean and non slip floors, we didn't use the washup area, as you have to pay 20p, but we had our own facilities. The views were lovely of the lakes and streams, also the water mill was very quaint! it was a little strange to hear a sound of 'music' off site somewhere in the distance, maybe from another park in the area?, it went on until the small hours, but apart from this we found this a lovely site just to mention, we had a lovely drink in a local pub, The Rose and Crown, in Cannington, nearby, there are some 'interesting items all over, including the 'ceiling!'

A most pleasant small site.
Simple but always clean and adequate facilities: showers are fine as are the toilets.
Helpful and friendly staff.
Pleasant pitches and some with good views.
Useful shop for the odd emergency needs, and some luxuries too.
Good access to Bridgewater shops and to coast and the Mendips.
Fine easy walking on the Mendips, or a bit more demanding if you wish.
Simple children's playground for those few spare minutes when exercise is needed.

This is a fantastic friendly site.
The children enjoyed the swimming pool, the site shop and the playground the most. They also had a wonderful time splashing in the streams, boating on the pond and making friends with the donkeys.
The site is situated in beautiful countryside and is close to lots of visitor attractions for days out.
We will definitely be making a return visit!
Our children are 7, 8 & 11.

A lovely quiet rural site, with excellent dog walking areas. We were placed on a hardstanding pitch which was excellent due to recent bad weather.
The site owner very friendly and had a good knowledge of the area if you needed it. The toilet block very clean, the only downside are the showers, they take a while to warm and just as you get a warm flow they stop, the shower cubicles have only a hook on the door so keeping all your things off the floor a bit of a juggling act, a small stool would have been great.
A lot of the pitches taken with sited tourers.
It is a fairy rural site and its a car journey to reach most places.
We would certainly be more than happy to return to this site and would recommend it for a lovely peaceful and relaxing holiday.
