The campsites facilities are nice and very clean, with easy access the water and bins around the campsite.

The ground is flat and good for camping on.

Hidden gem, small site on the river perfectly located across the road from dyfi Bike park and just outside Machynlleth.

We stayed 2 nights and the owner was very helpful.

Only thing that let it down was the couple of old caravans that look a little unloved.

 What a beautiful site.

Nice and clean the loo s showers and wash up area.

Lovely and peaceful.

Just through a gate on the footpath and the centre of alternative technology is a great place to spend a day. Lovely stay.

Thank you

I first stayed here with my family in 2009 and returned in 2016 with my son. Owner Ralph Beaumont inspired the following poem.

In visiting Llwyngwern campsite when nature got carried away

With a frame and thread of material facing a daunting night stay.

The owner showed much compassion to cushion a washed-out plan

By kindly allowing us to accommodate his hilltop river view van.

It was disused hence lacking star ratings in hygiene/cleanliness,

But it kept us dry throughout the night and his sheep nevertheless.

Someone and I later returned to a sun beating down from the sky,

In hearing a storm took the caravan, opened a duct in my eye.

I find Wales genuinely inspiring and recommend you give this site a stay

It has more than basic needs, while senses feel farther away.

I’ll return to Llwyngwern farm site when midges perform in the sky;

To be further inspired by the dragon, I believe that’s living close by.

Lots of room & very laid back.

Toilet block practical & everything functional.

Good location.

Good recycling area.

It rained a lot but the site didn't turn into a quagmire.

 Great campsite.

Nice and level.

Plenty of room.

An interesting village pub not too far away.

Lovely calming sounds of the little river.

We had a great weekend.

A warm welcome.

I stayed here over a Bank Holiday weekend, the first time being back for almost 20 years, and whilst I was significantly younger and don't remember everything, I can see the site has changed a lot, generally for the better.

Firstly the site itself (which hasn't changed): being on the valley floor and next to the river it is perfectly flat which when pitching a tent, and then going to sleep, is absolutely perfect.

I did not once find myself curled up towards the bottom of the tent as I would do on a sloped field, and the ground itself was surprisingly smooth, and free from any noticeable rocks or pebbles.

Being next to the river, and under great old (mainly) oak trees is always a delight too. One of the two main trunk roads from Machynlleth to Dolgellau does pass fairly close by up on the other river bank but it's surprisingly unnoticeable most of the time.

Access to footpaths, cycling routes, the Centre for alternative Technology, and of course further afield is excellent. You can do almost all the above without even needing to turn on your car engine which I wholly recommend trying (if you came in one, although the site is quite popular with cyclists too).

The owners were friendly and helpful, even returning a call to answer my queries, despite me not having left an answerphone message which was a pleasant surprise.

The facilities were fine, if a little crowded for the bank holiday. Relatively clean despite the footfall. Shower water flow and temperature is great (and adjustable) but again as there's only one so at peak times is far oversubscribed, and I don't think the water tank can keep up with the hot water demand at these times. Out of the peak though it is absolutely perfect.

Overall, pretty happy with my stay and would certainly visit again, only maybe a bit more frequently than every 20 years!

Exactly what it said on the package.

Loads of space, beautiful view,

Lovely sounds of the stream and just around the corner from CAT!

Thanks so much!

Located in a picturesque valley, ideal jumping spot for hikes and mountain bike trails. There is a beautiful stream on site, lush for a wild water dip and providing the perfect auditory backdrop for your slumber.

Amenities are clean and satisfactory, if not basic, allowing for one to stay in touch with nature and meeting all the requirements for a sustainable lifestyle (recycling, low-flush toilets etc).

Hot showers are a bonus though and we found we had everything we needed. The cost for students of the local university is very alluring if you hope to cut back on costs during your practical weeks and have a more natural experience.

It is located a 5 minute walk from campus.

The campsite it also dog-friendly and there are many friendly dogs! Our dog certainly enjoyed itself.

 I really enjoyed my stay.

The campsite was quiet and spacious, and there's even a little coffee shop.

Showers were free which was a bonus,

And the location is perfect for exploring Snowdonia national park -

Great public transport links.
