An excellent Caravan Club site - spotlessly clean and plenty of space. Only 2 faults. First is that both toilet blocks are at one end of site, and second is very poor radio reception.
Braemar is a small, friendly, easy going village with a number of small shops. It has a couple of cafes which are a tad expensive, but the Fife Arms hotel is very reasonable and sells draft Belgian beer. Good hill walking with plenty of wildlife to see.
Thoroughly recommend it. Open to non-members, but only small tents allowed.

I was rather reticent about visiting this site bearing in mind the potential for sites to cram in as many campers as possible at popular destinations. However my fears were unfounded. Pitches were generous for people in tents and caravans alike. However, they do not accept people in large family tents. Smaller small berth tents are fine. The toilet and shower facilities are the cleanest we have ever visited at a campsite with not even a blade of grass covering floor. The laundry facilities are on the expensive side and limited in availability causing queues of users at popular times. I would certainly use this site again.

This is a lovely well kept site. Me and the girlfriend went here for a weekend and had a very relaxing time (a bit cold though in April!). This is a Caravan club site and it turns out they don't like large tents- they really didn't like our Killington 400. Apparently they only accept backpacker size tents, though everyone had traveled by car and we felt quite sorry for a family of 3 sharing a tiny tent. There were a few largish domes with 2 smallish bedrooms, it was strange as our pitch had plenty of space for our tent- seemingly something to do with their license. It has two toilet blocks which were kept very clean and were nice and warm with plenty of hot water. There is a well kept play area which I would have enjoyed if I were 15 years younger! The site is just a few minutes walk from the town center with a butchers, an Alldays and several small shops, there is also a recycling point in the town center if you have a green conscience. Lovely area with lots of walks, we saw some Red Deer down by the river. I'm sure we'll go again but next time it will be in our Gamma 250!

We stayed for 4 days and found the wardens to be really friendly even helped me when I found I was missing a roof vent so put a temporary fix on it to stop it leaking in water. Toilet blocks were really clean, scenery was stunning but so is all of Scotland lets be honest

July 2005 we arrived at this site to camp as it was getting too late to continue our journey further. It is in excellent condition but not a relaxed and welcomming site. We faced 100 questions about the size of our tent, were told within the nearest blade of grass where to pitch and were watched very closely while we set up! Not a comfortable feeling and glad it was for one night only.

June 2005 Having camped at this site many times in the past while on mountaineering trips I thought it would make great base for introducing my two children to an area I know and love. However on arriving at the site on a very wet Sunday afternoon with two under fives in the car we were told that the site did not accept family tents! My partner pleaded that it would be for one night only and that we would pay for two pitches if our tent was deemed to large. As the site was as empty as I have ever seen it this seemed like a good deal for all concerned but we were told that it was site policy nothing could be done and that the site was for backpackers only.

September 2004 Only camped here for one night but it was a very pleasant stay indeed. The site was very quiet (just the way I like it!) and the toilet and wash facilities were the best of any site I've visited. If you are visiting the area for the Braemar Gathering though it is best to book early, even though it is a fairly large site. Be warned though, Braemar doesn't hold the record for the coldest recorded temperature in Britain for nothing, so make sure you've got a warm sleeping bag! The Gathering Place has already been mentioned as an excellent place to eat but equally as nice is the restaurant Taste. Check either out. It's also an excellent stop-off point before heading up to the Linn of Dee and into the Cairngorms for a spot of wild-camping.

1/5/04 5 star site within walking distance to Braemar, must eat at the Gathering Place Bistro, FIRST CLASS food and excellent service, we have been there many times. Braemar close to Spital of Glenshee - nice walks, plenty of deer. The site at Braemar has the best toilet facility, spotless, 2 showerblocks and the owners very nice too.
