Quiet and friendly,
Coleford was within walking distance but quite rundown.

We were met by the warden, Tony, straight away, shown to our pitch, pitch was nice and level,
Toilet and shower block clean, only one problem was one out of two showers working, saying that it is quite a small site, people were very friendly,
Only a 5 to 10 min walk to town, Co op and chip shop outside campsite,
All in all we had a really nice stay here, we definitely return next year.

This site we find perfect. So very welcoming, with regular owners and tourer's alike, everyone speaks and makes you part of such a lovely homely community feeling place.
The facilities are great for our needs, long hot showers at 50p a go, hairdryer, loo’s wash up etc, always clean and tidy (a testament to the hard working wardens, who are again lovely).
Super planted areas, baskets etc constantly being tended, well mown tidy grassed areas, great views past Monmouth into wooded hillside. Our pitch to was spacious and well maintained with hookup.
At weekend the small club on site is open, which should be recommended, sometimes with live entertainment (this was NOT intrusive and banging on all night) good selection of draught beers, pool table, and yet again all very hospitable.
A short pleasant stroll brings you over the river into Monmouth which is a lovely buzzing town, with interesting individual shops, pubs and restaurants.
To sum up, love the place and highly recommend it, thank you for a brilliant stay we will return ASAP

Disappointing - too many units squeezed into every available space.
Toilets, showers and handbasins had the same problem - no room.
Showers only luke warm and the site seemed disinclined to do anything about it.
Excellent location close to Monmouth

A perfectly nice site, in a pleasant town with friendly owners.
The site itself is predominantly seasonal caravans, about 90%, there were just a few touring pitches at the edge, but as it was just out of season it was largely empty of guests.
The owner/warden was very friendly and the facilities were a little dated but very clean, warm showers, but somewhat tight cubicles.
Monmouth is a really nice town, has a good selection of shops and there is good walking along the River Wye to Symonds Yat, although unfortunately the weather was decidedly grey and dark whilst I was there, so didn't get to appreciate the area in its full beauty.
So in conclusion, there is nothing wrong with this site at all, but at the same time there is nothing great about it either, its a site that will soon be forgotten and very unlikely to see a return visit.

I would just like to say, I have never made the effort to put a review up of a campsite but we had such a good bank holiday break here, had to post something.
The site is situated 10mins walk from Monmouth town centre, A very close community of people at the site with lots of permanent residents around the outside, who are so friendly you wouldn't believe, Everybody always speaks and makes you feel welcome,
The wardens always make you laugh and will help you out if you need anything,
Toilets are always clean and tidy,
Grounds are well kept,
Club house has pool table Bar and entertainment sometimes and superb Sunday lunch at a great price.
Surrounding area is great lots of dog walks through fields at the back and town centre has lots of pubs and great places to eat.
Cant wait till next bank holiday.

Have just spent 3 days at this wonderful site, the grounds are well kept and the flowers around the seasonal vans look lovely so do all the lights at night. The showers and the toilets are kept very clean and although you have to pay 20p for the showers they run for a long time.
The signs for the site are very small and easy to miss, if you look for a banner on the fence for Monmouth Electrical and turn immediate right ON the island it is up the drive.
To walk into town turn right out of the site and there is a large field which leads into the town or turn left and you can walk through the park to the town.
The Gate House pub on Monmow Bridge lets you take the dog inside so nice to eat in the warm.
Would go back again.

What a fabulous site. Booked to stay here for 2 nights whilst touring Somerset/Wales/Dorset. Immediately booked another night! Hubby has bad back so needed a site close to town. This site was perfect. The warden and his wife were so friendly and helpful.
Pitched up and walked into Monmouth. Lots of shops and plenty of pubs to eat in. There was a church and ruins of castle at top of town and museum but didn't go in because it opens 2-5pm and we were too early.
Back on site, and there were quite a few seasonal pitches and every one says hello and has a chat. Pitches were quite close together but didn't bother us as it was so friendly there. The site is flat, grass is perfect and solid and well preserved. The seasonal pitches are beautiful and well looked after.
There are a couple of hills in view and a river runs nearby (at entrance to town) where you can feed the ducks. Incidently, the seats near the river are perfect to pick up wifi!.
Went to clubhouse Friday and Saturday and that's where we met so many lovely people. The couple that run it are the perfect hosts. Had evening meal and breakfast, both were lovely and very reasonable. They often have entertainment, kareoke, bingo, singers (The male host sang one night- he was brilliant).
The toilets are fine and showers were good (20p for a good 4 mins). No laundry facilities. Barrier closes at 11pm and opens at 8am but no problem if you need to use it outside of these times as warden very accomodating.
Caught a bus from town to Ross on Wye, amazing scenery on journey. Buses were a bit hit and miss and about 2 hrs apart but a new timetable had just started, we just checked with driver where to wait on return and what time it would really come, no problem. Really didn't want to leave but we were touring after all. Cant wait to go back!

One night stop at short notice. Welcoming and friendly is how I would best decribe this quiet and well presented site just 5-10 minutes walk from Momouth.
Its a great base for cycling along the Peregrine trail to Symonds Yat. We did intend to go out to eat but having had a quick drink in the bar decided to have a bar snack and ended up staying in the club bar for the evening.
Great hosts who are a credit to the site.
The added bonus is that the club house also opens for breakfast and its good value at £4. 50 for a full Welsh!
Will be back again!

Stopped at this site for 1 night on the way home from Tenby. Was pleasantly surprised. A lovely, clean and well kept site. A great location being just 5-10 minute gentle walk in to Monmouth town centre and with in easy cycle ride the Biblins and Symons Yat via a cycle track (disused railway line).
The facilities were very clean and perfectly functional. There was only 1 washing up sink but it gave me time to have a chat while I waited. What's the rush anyway :-).
The site was really easy to access as its only a couple of mins of the main 'A' road. I nearly missed the entrance though. It's on a painted island and there's a sign for 'army training camp '.
Don't worry I assume its for youth cadets as there were no tanks screaming through or any sign of target practise. Would happily recommend as a platform to explore the wyre valley.
