Just returned from a 4 night break at this campsite - amazing. On our arrival the warden made us feel welcome immediately. The residents were very friendly and took time out to talk - that's not the case on other sites we have visited. Toilets/showers were spotless. Club house is lovely too with a good Sunday lunch. When we go away, we always manage to have visitors - these were welcomed too. 5-10 minute stroll into the town where there are some quaint shops, supermarkets and pubs. Will definitely return and when we are ready to 'site' the van would look at Monmouth Caravan Park.

This was our first but definitely not our last stay here. We arrived later than planned, around 6:30 but found the warden waiting for us to direct us to our pitch. There is a club house on site that serves food, which is fairly priced and plentiful, Mal and his wife run this and along with the regulars give a warm and friendly welcome.
Shower/toilet block is clean with a small charge of 20p for use of showers, although we used our own facilities.
Monmouth is a short walk away, which is flat and easy to access, lovely shops and some nice pubs where you can spend time eating & drinking.

First you have to drive through what appears to be a bus depot come scrap yard to get into the site but this is nothing to do with the site. The site itself is in an Excellent location for access to Ross, my only problem is the price.
I would have expected a fully serviced pitch as the site is very expensive and there's a BIG list of charges that could be added on.
Dog walk: There is a small walk around the lake.
Would I return NO - to expensive !

A very quiet site just 5 mins walk from the Monnow Bridge in Monmouth. We stayed mid week so small club house was closed. Grass pitches with EHU freeview and Sat reception fine. 40 static tourers on site with previously mentioned mini gardens and an array of solar lights, seems to be a bit of a community. Facilities were fine clean and £0. 20p for a shower though you have to be quick its the shortest 4 min shower I've had, as we were virtually the only residents had the place to ourselves, wonder what it would be like on a busy weekend? Wouldn't want to take kids there as they have no facilities for them at all. Great location will definitely return.

Just returned from a weekend at Monmouth Caravan Park. The warden who greeted us was really friendly and helpful. We had a great pitch close to the shower block and toilets which was great for me as I have mobility problems. The toilets were spotless although a bit dated, they are a credit to the cleaner. Although the shower is 20p the water was nice and hot and as I like a long shower I needed two 20p's, but that's not the end of the world. The only issue I found was no laundry on site, there is however a laundrette just down the road from the park. The clubhouse was ideal for us as we arrived around 7pm and after setting up it was lovely to be welcomed by a very friendly couple, providing reasonably priced drinks and home cooked food. By the end of the evening we felt like regulars as everyone was so friendly and will definitely be going back. The park is just a 10 minute walk to Monmouth town where there is an array of shops, pubs and plenty of coffee shops. The ducks on the river were very entertaining and there was also a small market by the river on Saturday. This park is a good base for sightseeing in a very beautiful area.

We have had a fab weekend, the weather was cold but sunny. Very friendly welcome by the wardens and helpful in positioning our van.
A very surprising little site, which hosts a club house that serves home cooked meals at reasonable prices. The landlord spent time getting to know us by name and made us feel very welcome.
The toilet and shower facilities are basic but clean.
The site is well situated for visiting local attractions and nearby towns etc.
We will definitely visit again, thanks to all especially Mal and his wife x

We have just returned from another weekend at this site. We like to try and go once a year as it is so pretty and convenient.
Prices have gone up a bit - £21 for Fri to Sun nights plus extras for awning and more than two people (but no charge for under 8's), dropping to £17 for Mon thru Thursday nights, plus extras.
The site is as well-maintained as ever with loads of flowers and hanging baskets and well maintained pitches.
There are lots of seasonal pitches and most people seem to come here every year as they all know each other and we recognised some from last year. Although tolerance to children seems to have decreased from some of the seasonal vanners.
We used the bar on the Sat and Sunday night and as last year they gave out free chips and bread and butter on the Sunday night which the kids loved! They have a small selection of beers and one or sometimes two real ales as well at fairly competitive prices (£2. 80 pint mostly. There is a Wetherspoons only 10 mins walk away across the river if you want options, as well as an abundance of pubs in Monmouth.
The only change this year apart from more seasonals (or so it seemed) and price increase was that they now charge for the showers. 20p for 4 minutes. I personally don't like being charged for a shower when I have paid over £20 for my pitch but hey-ho, that is what they now do.
We will probably be back though as we love the location.

Stayed at this site by chance and discovered a wonderful site. Everything is very clean and tidy, with large shower and toilet block, loads of free hot water.
There is a club house on site, but was not open when we were there (Wed), but it seems very popular with the 'Permanent' tourers, which occupy about 80% of the pitches throughout the season. It would seem that there is great competition among these with regard to the gardens that spring up around each caravan, and in the night it resembles the Blackpool illuminations with the amount of solar powered lights around each caravan.
The biggest surprise was the cost;- early Sept £12. 50 pn with EHu.
Will be sure to go back as it is a great base for the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean.

Nice site and reasonably priced, 5 min walk into Monmouth town and quite central for visiting the Forest of Dean and Hereford, Abergaveny etc.
Nice quiet and peaceful site with clean toilet and showers. A lot of 'threatening' rules - if you don't do as your told you will be TOLD to leave !
Apart from all the 'don't' signs and rules the site is well kept, this is probably due to the 'dont's' so I suppose it works. Most of the pitches looked like seasonal units with visitors being placed on the grass pitches.
The managers/caretakers were helpful when we arrived, but there was no information about the bar and food opening/closing times given or offered.
All in all the site was nice and clean and reasonably priced, even though you have to pay extra for a dog and awning, this said we will definitely be staying there again.

We have just returned from a weekend (3 nts) at Monmouth Caravan Park. It is just as well kept as when we visited last year. Toilets and showers kept very clean.
The site is nice and flat with plenty of flowers. We took our three young children (all under 8 so no charge for them) and our caravan. We would have been charged for the awning so we didn't bother with that.
Only one quibble: We parked our car next to our caravan between our pitch and another and the warden asked us to move it as it was a fire risk being too close to another unit. So we moved it although it didn't seem too close to us. Then later that day a camper van pitched up and it was obvious they knew the wardens and they were put right next to our pitch where there was not really room. We could have touched them as they were so close;
Then the other side, another family who knew the warden again arrived and pitched their tent so close that I could actually touch the tent from our caravan window. So much for the fire risk again. It was a bit annoying really. But saying that on the whole everyone was friendly and welcoming.
The site was busy as it was the music festival weekend so I can understand them maximising on business but they should be a bit more consistent with the rules. They are quite strict with the rules but not so much with the seasonals or people that they seem to know well but for the weekend we can deal with that as it is a nice site and we do plan to go back again. Anyway we might get to be regulars ourselves eventually!
A real positive was on the Sunday night, we all went into the bar and had a few drinks with friends and they brought us out free bowls of chips and bread and butter! Apparently they do it every Sunday evening. It was lovely and friendly and we had a fun evening :).
We will go back as it is a great base to explore. There is a kids park across the road, the town is ten minutes walk either via the road or through the fields over the river. There is a Wetherspoons in the town and an Iceland, Co-op, Waitrose and M&S Simply Food so you won't go hungry! The Forest of Dean is really close and it isn't far into Wales and the Brecons Beacons.
The on site bar serves breakfast, lunch and evening meals and opens most days (closed on quieter days so do check).
