September 2004 I visited for 3 days with 2 children 3 and 7 yrs old.
Children's entertainment kept them enthralled. The Arcade also fascinated them and did not cost a lot of money, I rationed the number of games they could play and they were quite happy soaking in the atmosphere and watching others.
Had pitch 425, below the old toilet block. Only problem was that this was under trees and very dusty, which stuck to the flysheet when setting up.
Facilities worked well, Going back this year for 2 weeks with 3 kids and wife and therefore with a much bigger tent.
Fingers crossed pitch will cope.

July 2005 Just returned from a long weekend (thur-sun) at sandford. Superb pitch, we have a fairly large 10 man tent which was easily accomodated along with my car on the pitch. The pitches are shielded on 3 sides with hedges or young conifers, allowing a certain amont of privacy without feeling cut off.
The new shower block is clean and well maintained with some of the best shower facilities I have used. As for the site itself it was dissapointing.
There are two outdoor pools which appear to have been taken over by the seagulls, probably a good thing they were closed as they had more silt on the bottom than Poole harbour. The usual bar facilities exist, but one of these was closed for building work.
All in all a nice pitch shame about the site overall.

June 2005 Weather was appaling so it was good to have some entertainment for the kids and an indoor swimming pool. Our tent was pitched near the new shower block and this was excellent. The site was busy and yet the toilets always seemed to be spotless and block was very warm. Thought the tent area was pretty and our pitch (and those nearby) was a very generous size for this sort of camp.
On the down side, it was noisy and the owners should have a noise policy. I'm not exactly a quiet person, but 'Drum and Bass' blaring out from a ghetto blaster at 3am is a bit much!

April 2005 Very cold weekend! temerature dropped down to -3 on the Friday night and boy was it hard to sleep in a thin tent!
I found the campsite very very noisy at 2am as people were coming back from their nights out, why do they have the need to scream out "wakey wakey!" it is beyond me?????
Site itself was OK, the old toilet block left a lot to be desired....! the new toilet block, well, we nearly brought our sleeping bags into there as it was so warm!!! Only problems were that the hand driers did not seem to work and the toilets got very dirty, considering the site was not mega busy I found this worrying.

April 2005 This is my 2nd time visit here and I love it! i may only be 14 but its the best place I've ever been! and that's saying something when I've been to places like Florida!
I stayed in a caravan so I wouldnt know about the toilets!
The entertainment is amazin although i was dissapointed to see my best mate Gemma and some of the others (Alan, Matt, Sinead and Kelly) has left! i saw my other best friends sarah and kate 2 as wel as steve, paul, stacey and the new'er entertainers: adam, gaz, sharon and michelle.
I would recommend this to everyone because they take good care of children on the entertainments side (I helped out with the children clubs)
I can't wait to go back and I hope this will help everyone who wants to go to the Weststar camp! Especially those with children!

July 2004 Lovely area, facilities OK, though tent pitch a little small but oh the noise. Admittedly we were quite near the central toilet block hut, the noise started at about 11.30 and went on until about 2.00 am. Unfortunately it seemed to be the adults as much as the kids. Great holiday because the weather was amazing but came home for some sleep

July 2004 We had a wonderful week here! The site is well laid out and considering the amount of people on site, the facilities were kept clean and there were plenty of shower / toilet blocks. Although we did not take advantage of the entertainment, there was a full programme of entertainment available.
We will definitely return to this site again.

June 2004 we have visited sandford park every year for 7 years and i have to say this year was our second best.. The showers have been updated with a state of the art shower block and the showers in the old blocks do not turn off every 30 seconds anymore and are generally warm, also water pressure is better. They do not get closed for cleaning anymore rather cleaning staff get on with their work discretely around you 4 times a day which is much better. The entertainment is great and there is always something on for the kids no matter what their ages.
The weather was a bit dissapointing this year which meant the outdoor pools weren't open as much as normal but this did not spoil our holiday. The site was generally quiet after 11 pm which was ideal (but we do go out of peak times) it was no where near full so there was no queues for the bar etc and not as stiflingly hot as it has been during peak holidays..
All in all a top of the range site for entertainment and ammenities if you go at the right time of year.

August 2004 I read the other rather negative reviews of Sandford, after booking the holiday, and before we went.
The site must have improved, as we found it to be overall good. The toilet / shower blocks were good and clean, and the site was not noisy at night.
The children had plenty to do, it felt friendly and safe.
On the negative, I agree that it is wrong that you have to go through that 'tacky' amusement arcade to get to the other entertainment facilities. The arcade has much too much prominence in that location, and is a cynical ploy to get parents pestered to part with their money.
Restaurant, that I saw, too small, and busy for such a big site.
Also on an environmental level, too many leaking water taps, too stiff for people to turn off properly. Loads of fresh drinking water is wasted.
A lack of recycling facilities.
Overall liked the site, well maintained, and pleasant.

August 2003 This is a huge site but the woodland setting helps make living with such a lot of other people bearable. There are many trees and shrubs but the amount of privacy each pitch gets is very variable - regulars take lots of wind breaks. Loved the paddling pool which is huge and well separated from the swimming pool so you don't have to worry about young ones getting out of their depth or older ones stampeding through the paddling area. All entertainment staff work very hard for their money. Showers and toilets have not improved since previous reviewers visited. At the nearest shower block to us there were constant queues between the hours of 7.00 and 10.00 am and similarly around early evening. Could usually get in the portaloo showers but out of 4 in the block one didn't lock and one had only a trickle of water. Of the 2 wc's only one had a locking door. Many leaking taps and standpipes. Not a quiet site but during our stay most campers settled down at a reasonable hour.
