We love this site, the toilets and showers are clean and the wardens are really helpful. This site is close to our home and we have visited several times in the past and have already booked for September and will hopefully continue to have many relaxed weekends at this site.

We stayed at the end of may mid term break for 4 nights and although it was really cold myself and the 3 boys had a fantastic time. The facilities are clean, showers were always hot with no Qs and its run by very friendly helpful people. The shop is very basic but there are plenty of local shops, we even had an Indian takeaway one night from Midhurst. No charcoal BBQs allowed which is understandable given the amount of dry wood around. We were lucky with our pitch, it had a very slight slope. Some of the smaller pitches have quite a severe slope so the previous advice of a ptich with power was good to have. There is no playground because the woods are one giant playground. We can't wait to go back.

September 2005 We have just returned from a weekend camping at this fantastic site. We were with friends and we all have young children and they absolutely loved playing in amongst the trees etc.
The pitches all feel secluded yet not isolated. The facilities were up to the Camping and caravanning club's usual very high standards.
We are looking foward to returning to this site next season and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

September 2005 I originally booked here for just one night on an electric hook up pitch with my tent, but decided to stay the night before as well. They has no electric pitches so I stayed one night non electric and moved the next day. So I can review both types of pitches.
After reading all of the glowing reviews I was expecting the campsite to be very nice. The first pitch as someone mentioned before was more of a layby off the road and was sloping. The pitch was not private as many reviewers have mentioned and was literally two feet from the track for cars and pedestrians. Also it was very tree rooty. I took a wander around the site and a lot of the non hookup sites were on a slope to some extent, some were more private than others. Nearly all the pitches were firm sand and yes it does get in every where, so be warned!
My next pitch with hook up was much nicer. It was much larger and had a tree line on two sides. Completely flat and fairly private.
I would advise getting a hook up pitch even if you don't need it. The pitches are flatter, larger and you don't run the risk of getting a sloping layby pitch.
The site staff were good and helpful. The facilities always felt like they had just been cleaned, even when I popped to the loo at 5am! The shower block had 3 cubicles and variable temperature and high pressure. Very nice!
Overall the site was very nice, but you should bear in mind that the site in general is built into a small hill. Some on the pitches are terraced to get over this but some pitches are sloping and not at all private. The site has a site map for sale at 10p in the shop. It might be wise to get a copy of the before and request a particular pitch so you aren;t disappointed.
Lastly the forest had a group of what sounded like screech owls. If you have never heard the noise they make nothing can prepare you for the unearthly louds screeching noise. They had a extremly loud hour long screeching conversation at about 1am on one night. The second night was quiet so we may have just been unlucky!

June 2005 We are Holiday Site Assistants at Graffham. Before we started here we knew nothing about the site apart from the reviews on this website... We have been there since May and enjoy every minute of it. It is a wonderful site, in a wood, and most pitches are surrounded by trees and Rhododendron bushes, most pitches being completely individual and unique! It is NOT a "field site", some people have turned up expecting it to be like all the other sites, but it certainly is different! Most campers that we have spoken to absolutely love it, and many have been going there for years. Just a little tip - when booking you need to give exact length and width of your unit, as every pitch is a different size and shape, and some pitches are only suitable for tents, some for motorhomes etc etc. If you are disabled, because of the nature of the site, you need to mention this on booking as there are only certain pitches suitable, depending on the disability. Lots are away from the "road" and there may be tree roots or a slope up or down to get to your pitch. Lots of dog walks on and around the site as we are situated close to the South Downs. Anyway we certainly would recommend Graffham, not just because we work there! Hope to see some of you soon Joy & Alan (& Misty our Jack Russel)

March 2005 My husband, teenage daughter and dog were all virgin motorhomers, having decided to hire one over the easter period to tour around Dartmoor, the New Forest and West Sussex. We discovered this delightful site in a camp site guide book and this first trip to Graffham will definitely not be our last.
It was lovely to wake up in the morning to hear the doves cooing, and even washing up was a pleasure walking along the sandy track to the dish washing area.
A truly delightful introduction to the world of motor homing, and definitely one I shall want to repeat every year - but maybe without the teenage daughter!
The person complaining about the sand needs his / her head examining, but horses for courses as they say.

August 2004 Very nice site, showers etc. kept nice and clean (although some queues when the site is very busy). Enjoyed listening to the Owls in the evening! Our pitch was quite bumpy, although managed to pitch between the worst of the tree roots. You need good sleeping mats (thermarests were great!) for the more bumpy pitches!
Good for walking (a number of paths starting from the site) and lots of pubs in the area! The Foresters Arms at graffham do nice food (open 'traditional' hours). The Unicorn Inn also looked good (although we didn't eat there) and the White Horse at Easebourne do good food too.
Site was almost full over bank holiday, with lots of families. I imagine it is more peaceful out of school holidays etc! Lovely site and definately one to return to!

July 2004 This is a great site for anyone who wants the atmosphere of camping in the wild with the facilities of civilisation. The site is within a forest of mainly birchwoods with lots of trees, brush and scrub. It caters for tents, caravans and campers. The pitches are of varying sizes and each is within its own clearing, surrounded by trees. The pitches are reached by well maintained gravel tracks. The smaller pitches are visually secluded and give a real impression of being "wild in the woods"! The woods are full of birds and wildlife and there are numerous nature trails. The ground is soft, sandy peat and can be a little dusty, but common sense will prevent problems with this. It drains very well in the rain, as I can vouch to, being caught in three days of downpours with no major problems. The faciltities are modern and scrupulously clean. The shop is very well stocked and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. Non C and C C members are welcome but booking is essential. The site is very close to the great country house at Petworth which is a marvellous place to visit. There is plenty of information available on the site egarding other places of interest in the area. I would heartily recommend this site to anyone wanting a peaceful and tranquil, natural camping experience. Ten out of ten!

May 2004 We were disappointed by the Graffham site and will definitely not be returning. The sandy soil is a bit of nuisance and because of the wooded nature of the site many pitches are in the shade and have no grass at all. We feel too many pitches have been squeezed in, some were no more than a lay-by off the site tracks.

May 2004 A lovely site. We had a huge private pitch surrounded by trees though I noticed some pitches were much smaller. No children's playground but lots of space for them to play in the trees and rhodedendrums around the pitch which was actually much better than a playground. One main toilet block and a smaller one without showers. 3 showers in ladies - could have done with more as (short) queue in the mornings, but it was a BH and site full. Will definitely return.
