A lovely site in a woodland location, adjacent to Lavington Common, lots of birds, be prepared for the dawn chorus or night owls. The wardens are very welcoming. It is sandy site and does get in the tent/caravan, the wc block at the entrance needs a bit of spit and polish, the main block is very good. We had a lovely time and the Weald and Downland Museum and at the Amberley Museum, there are numerous footpaths and walks to be taken in the area. The White Horse and the Three Moles are good locals. Good campsite for Dog owners.

This site is a real gem. The campsite is set in in a wooded area with various clearings for caravans/tents. This makes it really peaceful with loads of wildlife to look at.
The toilet block was always clean and tidy as you would expect set in the middle of the site. Need to remember to take a torch with you if you venture out after dark but I think that was the attraction of the place (my wife and daughter had a different opinion)
It makes a real change not to camp in the traditional 'field' but in the woods and the lack of traffic movement was great.
There is no play ground for the kids but on this site they were more than happy to go exploring - its much better than any adventure playground.
We visited the Wildfowl and Wetland trust at Arundel and actually spent far more time their than we anticipated. Likewise the Dorset Open Air museum - both worth a visit. Both Petworth and Midhurst also worth a visit.

This site was a surprise, we only went because we did not like the site we were on. The pitches in little clearings between the trees were great but some of the access tracks were very narrow, we were not far from reception so it was a long walk up one side of a hill and down the other to the showers.
I'm not sure what it would be like when full, but in quiet times it is a great site, the wardens were very friendly and helpful and you could almost hear the silence. There is a lot of sand but it's worth it for the isolation.
Petworth is well worth a visit, but if you visit Petworth House and you have problems walking, try parking in Petworth and going into the house through the entrance near the church, its a lot shorter but you do miss the parklands.
I might visit again just to watch the birds, nearly forgot we collected a lot of sweet chestnuts to eat and lots of cones to make Christmas decorations

Fantastic site, we were shown to our pitch, shown where the shower block was and then left to our own devices. Secluded, friendly neighbours, very quiet and I found the occasional helicopter a pleasant reassurance that there was civilisation outside this owl and squirrel infested paradise. Facilities are dated and basic but cleaned properly every day (far cleaner than Travel Lodge or Holiday Inn etc. (and we are supposed to be camping and roughing it a bit)). No playground, didn't see any kids but well behaved and properly parented children should take great delight in the natural environment. Never realised Sussex had so much to entertain, roads are quiet and driving is a delight. Wife and I are experienced 'pub diners', we tried both local pubs which were 'o. K. ', we ate twice at The Cricketers in Duncton though and found that to be excellent, their fish and chips need to be seen to be believed! I hope I haven't painted too much of a 'rosy picture' as I hope to return soon and hope there is space!

Lovely site. We were pitched in a glade all on our own! Glad that we had torches with us.
The only downside for this site is the pitches themselves. Make sure you have plenty of groundsheets with you. ! Oh, and a dustpan and brush (or hoover if you are that fussy!).
Could have done with a few more showers, glad they were not the push button type though.
Wifi did not work from where we were pitched. Need to be right outside reception as we saw others doing! Did not bother.
Beautiful walks from the site with plenty of wildlife including sand lizards if you are quick enough to spot them! On site there are bird feeders attached to the trees, we are not sure if the birds were hungry or there were greedy squirrels. However, we did see all types of birds including a lesser spotted woodpecker!
The village shop is nice, hot coffee and warm bread, but, expensive!
Petworth Deer Park is a must. Beautiful.
Chip shop in Petworth not bad, friendly and you can also eat in.
The White Horse at Easebourne on the way to Cowdray House will serve you a lovely Sunday Roast.

Super site set in mature woodland with plenty to do for the children in the forest. Natural site with pitches set in amongst the woodland (even the hookup pitches!).
Facilities all very clean and tidy and a really relaxing site. Bring your torch as no street lighting at night to maintain the natural feel of the site and to encourage the wildlife.
Ideal for walkers, cycling (mountain biking)and even those who want to watch the world go by!
A super site for all! Local village is a short walk away which has pubs selling real ale which is an added bonus!

Have just come back from a 12 night stay at Graffham.
The site is very pleasant in that it is in the middle of a forest with many secluded areas for tents, caravans and motorhomes. We were greeted with a very warm welcome the owners were very friendly especially with the complicated scenario we had with regards to camping visitors. We were shown to our pitch and within short time we were pitched and ready to go.
Site's facilities were all in all very nice, we were located on the west side of the site which runs parallel with the outside road although not completely quiet it was not a major distraction.
There were 2 toilet blocks the smaller of the 2 (situated near the entrance) was adequate albeit it strange to have plastic roof. The main facility block was a little walk away which has the shower, laundry and 'family' wash room.
It would have been nice to have had a (free!) map or been shown where this was as it took a little getting lost to find it. Other than this it was a lovely site and surroundings which would make any stressed individual relaxed within hours of being there.
There is no children playground as such, I say as such as there is no formal play area, however with a little imagination the woods surrounding the site is all a child needs to have many great adventures.
There is a local shop in Graffham (out of the site and turn left), I never actually went into this shop but it is definitely within walking distance. I didn't frequent the local pubs but a sample menu is displayed in the main facility block and it looked very tempting.
Whilst at the site we visited many local attractions Arundel WWT, West Wittering Beach, Submarine Museum (Gosport), Cowdray Castle, Chichester, Amberley Heritage Museum and Fishbourne Roman Palace. All of which were very enjoyable (I can highly recommend Amberley and Cowdray Castle). Whilst visiting Arundel WWT we went to The Black Rabbit pub service was fantastic and food was very nice.
To sum up the whole trip, very enjoyable. However the site is a VERY sandy site and as such it WILL come into the tent, take a broom and be prepared to sweep on a daily basis.

Quirky but very enjoyable. We were six families (X5 tents and X1 touring caravan)and in common with so many sites who say they would not accept groups, we all booked separately but were pitched next to one another anyway.
The pitches varied but the entire site was very sandy so recommend taking a brush and pan. It was very quiet. The children loved exploring the site which is full of nooks and crannies with pitches in unexpected places.
Location is great - close to village good pub. Too few showers for the size of the site - 3 mens and 3 ladies.
We would go back, mainly because we enjoyed it and it is less than 40 minutes drive away for our group.
Do watch out for the very narrow track to the site especially if you are towing. Also, the signpost is easily missed for the turning.

This was my second visit to this site and much as I'd like it to myself, I feel obliged to share.
Thanks to the late Easter, most of the families had checked out when we arrived as the school holidays finished the following day.
The friendly site manager offered us the pick of the pitches, and we opted for the furthest corner but were still only a short walk from the spacious and well appointed showers etc. The shop sold the basics and the staff were friendly and helpful.
It wasn't busy and was blissfully quiet, the layout of the site seems to stop noise carrying.
I cannot fault the pitches: set in little clearings in wonderful mixed woodland, they manage to be level, sheltered, well drained and secluded.
It felt more like wild camping than being on a site. It may not be ideal for the house proud (tent proud) camper though, as leaves find their way into your unit and the soil is sandy in places so it gets in the tent too.
These slight disadvantages are more than compensated for by being surrounded by bluebells and birdsong though. Plenty of pitches had hookups, and the caravan pitches were mostly hardstanding.
The showers, toilets and washing up facilities were plentiful, roomy, had endless hot water and were spotlessly clean. A nice addition is the cubicles with basins - perfect for a strip wash!
I can't comment on the facilities for children as I don't have any, but the site is very dog friendly. The two village pubs are both dog friendly too, and serve good food. The nearest (the Foresters) is a pleasant 30 minute cross country stroll through woods and across fields.
The location is perfect for walking in the new South Downs National Park, there are lovely walks from the site and local country side is simply beautiful. There's loads to do in the local area - several stately homes within a short drive, 2 Roman villas, Midhurst and Petworth (nearest town, with an excellent Co-Op) are both lovely little towns that repay exploring, the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum (dog-friendly) and the open air museum at Amberley are terrific.
There's Bosham for sailing, Portsmouth and Chichester for serious shopping, including a huge Sainsburys at Chichester (and the designer outlets at Portsmouth's Gun Wharf Quays are a must for the shopaholic), Arundel Castle is about 20 minutes away and if you fancy a day at the races Goodwood and Fontwell are pretty close.
Goodwood also boasts a sculpture park. Not far from beaches either, West Wittering would be my first choice of these.
As usual with club sites, the gates are locked at 11pm but there is room for a few cars in the outside car park should you miss curfew. The only extra rule is the ban on barbecues - this is because of the risk of fire in the woods.
I now regard this site as a home from home, as it's only an hour or so away, but I'd drive a few hundred miles to spend a week there if I had to.

We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed a quiet and peaceful stay.
A lot of the pitches are very private with surrounding woodland. This ensures peace and a feeling of getting away from it.
Our pitch was a long way from the toilets and washing/shower facilities. This was tricky in the middle of the night with a young child.
When we return again we will ensure we are closer to the facilities.
The facilities were spotless and plenty of toilets and showers.
The family room for us was a bonus (key deposit) this was a private toilet / washroom with baby bath and change mat, though a little bit of a tight squeeze.
The washing machines and dryers on the site are essential as we all got filthy.
Our 6 year old daughter loved this site and the freedom of climbing trees and the rope swings. The children generally played and meet at the top of a wooded hill which can be seen by the many pitches at the base.
We loved this site but be warned if they have a long dry spell the grass dies and the ground is grey dust. This got everywhere and was a nightmare keeping tent and the children in reasonable cleanliness.
The site was difficult with our toddler as the ground is uneven and many tree roots, these were ideal for tripping and many head injuries.
Also the tree roots and dusty ground at our stay made it difficult to pitch.
The walks are fantastic and surrounding countryside, the pub in the village is good and many local village pubs good. The site shop good but keep and an eye on the opening times. We thought the ice pack charges were a little expensive.
As the site is remote there are footpaths alongside which can gain access into the site and a gate to the site from the road so not as secure and safe as we would have liked.
We will go back when our toddler is older and not after a long dry spell when the ground should be better.
