We have just returned from this park and felt compelled to report on our stay. We'd had a terrible drive down (bank holiday traffic) and the warm welcome we received alone made the trip to Wales seem worthwhile. The park was immaculate and the shower block was always clean despite the heavy bank holiday use. We were pitched near to the road but weren't disturbed by it.
We found plenty to do in Monmouthshire and the owners were very good at suggesting things to do and see nearby. We took the Usk Valley walk the one day towards Clytha and it was beautiful (walk runs just past the park)
Lastly, the natural surroundings are worth mentioning. The wooded areas on site and on the opposite bank of the river are clearly a haven for wildlife. Waking early one morning I was amazed by the dawn chorus and we saw all manner of different birds on the river - swans, kingfishers, ducks (there's access to the river in a couple of places - in the field above the park which is open to guests at the park and by the reception)
A great stay, we'll be back!

While I agree with most of the past reviews regarding the clean toilet block etc, well stocked shop/ pub on the door step.
I do however feel after returning with our daughter and dog that the site is not well equipped for children and is much better suited for adults only. There is a dog walk (a large field), however the river / countryside is not accessed from the park to walk along and the surrounding roads are without pavements. There are plenty of walks if you want to drive to them.
On booking the site by phone we were told that they had few pitches left, and would we accept a hedge row / road side pitch. I was told that the noise subsides later in the day, to which I accepted the plot. The road directly behind our caravan was used like a race track, the noise was awful, it certainly was not relaxing sitting outside the van, but when in the van the noise shook it.The position was also in an area where they were selling huge RV's so it felt very odd, and some what like a trailor park / truck stop.
All in all a site well over priced for the amenities on offer, and although in the countryside, it didnt feel like it, more like the M4 where we were positioned.

Having decided to return to caravaning after a break of 10 years ( kids growing up etc.!) we decided to look for a quiet site, happy to take our 9 month old dog - Dewi and within an hour and a half tow time from home for our inaugural trip. After having a booking cancelled at the 11th hour due to water logging I had a very quick efficient reply from the owners of Port Kemys. What an excellent choice!
The owners went out of their way to help us ( missing waste pipe, forgot the mallet etc.).
The facilities are perfect - spotless showers & toilets, superb dog walking facilities, Chainbridge pub less than 5 minutes walk. We are far from 'old timers' but the Adult Only Area a well thought out added bonus. Definitely one of those sites to revisit again & again.
Overall first visit to this site, first time out in our caravan, first time with a dog - this site couldn't have been better.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this fabulous site. The owners are friendly and helpful and the site is well set out and well maintained and even when full there was still plenty of space around us. The facilities are fantastic. Absolutely spotless, modern and free! The facilities here will spoil us for any other site. My only problem with this site was the lack of a play area for the children and the steep river bank drop which could be a problem if you have little ones. Still a good time was had by all and we will definitely use this site if we are in this area again.

We have just spent four nights at the site, and have found it to be one of the best so far that we have had the fortune of visiting. The site was clean, well set out and we turned up at a moments notice to which we had a very warm welcome, by two of the friendliest people you could meet, they showed us to our plot to pitch, and the electric Hook up we could use. The facilities block was clean and well lit at night. I wouldn't hesitate at the chance to go there again it was Great.

Just spent two nights at Pont Kemys and found it to be an excellent site. The owners were very friendly and helpful, the site was lovely, well set out and maintained. There were plenty of electric hookup points around and we were given plenty of space for our tent and cars. The free toilet and shower facilities were excellent - very clean and obviously well maintained and plenty of hot water in the showers, even as lots of people returned from a day of ski racing to use them! The shop seemed to supply all the essentials and there is a pub just 300yards along the road which served excellent food - just the thing after a long drive and pitching the tent in the rain. We will definitely use this site whenever we are in the area again and would recommend it to anyone else.

Very nice and well run camp site. Wales is such a lovely place to visit with lots to do, this camp site is a good choice for visiting the area. The owners are very helpful and certainly keep the site in tip top condition. Washrooms are immaculate and the site is very well laid out with good size pitches on level ground. We stayed in a tent, the campsite did seem to be more geared up for caravans and motor homes. The only issue we had was the absolute lack of TV reception! Although not essential we found that the lack of a tele a little shocking at first, but we adapted quickly and soon learnt to play domino's and cards again and ended up enjoying our stay without the TV. I think the caravan pitches have TV points, not for the tent area though. A great site and we would stay again.

Excellent site, very peaceful and the added bonus of an adults only area which has fully serviced pitches. The site is about seven miles from Abergavenny and is set in lovely countryside. Toilets are kept spotless, owner very helpful. Highly recommended.

What a lovely site this was. It was set in a lovely quiet location near a river with hardly any traffic noise and some fantastic facilities. Apparently this site has won awards for loos of the year and rightly so. The loos were spotless. The showers were great - you didn't have to press the knob every five seconds, one push lasted for ages - AND YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY EXTRA (my big gripe with campsites). There was some nice walking close at hand - the owner was a really nice guy, very helpful when I enquired about walking routes - and the shop onsite sold the usual necessities. I actually took the trouble to walk down to reception the next day when we left (unfortunately we could only stay one night) and thank the owner in person for a lovely stay. Definitely recommended, and I will definitely visit again!
