Visited this site for the first time last week of July arrived at 12.30 and found shop/reception closed to 3.00 but on the door they had a list of pitches with electric hook ups and names on them, so we went and pitched our tent opposite one that had no name next to it as we were going to book this up for my sister in law who was coming the next day. Put tent up and gave the dog a run as she’s been in the car for over 3 hours then a car drove up and the woman in it wound down the window and said camp rules dogs must be on a lead (I should point out at this time we were the only people pitched in this field), so I thought oh what a jobs worth. We then went to book in for both ourselves and my sister in law and were told that they couldn’t have the pitch opposite us as it was booked, when I pointed out the list on the door I was told that it was just a guide and didn’t mean the pitches on it were available. As we have a big 6 berth tent and I was suffering from a bad back there was no way we could take our tent down and re-pitch it opposite one that was free, further up the field. Later in the week my son who is nine was told he wasn’t allowed in the shop to look at things, he’d already been in and spent money in the shop. So have to say that the attitude of the staff was appalling.
Having said all this it’s a nice level and quite camp site, however the showers are badly in need of modernisation but they were clean, although the boiler broke down in the one shower block.
Would I go back I’m not sure and generally this is how I’d judge a site

August 2005 First time camping for many years! nice site, divided into small areas. Quite windy but near the sea so not surprising! Toilets / showers old but do the job. Hot water with minimal queues even though site full. Some noise first night but very quiet after that. Shop small but has most things. great area to holiday with lots to do. staff ok. no complaints, not a bad first outing all in all.

June 2005 We have come to this campsite for the last four years, it has some excelent views. During the last four years I regret to say it has not changed. Lots of areas are in need of being updated including the toilets / showers and childrens play area. Toilets are like a 1940 outhouse, the showers were cold and draughty and most mornings no hot water. They worked by a push button so the water only ran for about thirty seconds before you had to push it again.
The playground is old and rusty with flakey paint, the entertainment is good and so is the pool but a bit of a trek to get there. The staff are ok, sometimes rude. As it was drizzling my son wore a hooded jumper in to the shop where he was told to put the hood down or we will not serve you. I thought she was joking but she was not, my son is five years old.
There are plenty of water taps and the bins are emptied every day. We went for breakfast one morning which we found to be expensive , after a 45 minute wait our breakfast was more than disappointing.
It is a good safe site for children and it is also quiet at night.

April 2005 Have visited this site and their sister site West Fleet many times over last few years, always pleased with what we found. Sea Barn is peaceful with lovely sea views, facilities basic but clean. Toilets and showers could do with modernisation and are draughty and minimal. Have free use of site next door for food entertainmemnt and small outdoor pool. However will not return again as charging policy over May bank holiday was to charge for 5 days even if booking was required for only 2. Presume this earnt them a few pounds with 'new campers' out to get a cheap holiday with a cheap tent, but only put off seasoned, loyal campers like us.

August 2004 Went to this site 3 times during July & Aug 04.
The site is large with great views and the staff are really friendly. The toilets are old but clean enough.
Pitches are not marked out and you can go where you want.
This is a short drive from Weymouth, and you pass a lage ASDA on the way!
Will return in 2005!

August 2004 An average site. Nice views of the sea and the site is divided up into small fields so it doesn't feel too crowded. Toilets and showers were okay but felt a bit old and didn't have many extras like soap and shower curtains. There was no hot water one morning.
There is the added bonus of being able to use the pool and bar at West Fleet Park over the road for free - popular with children and young teenagers.
The laundry facilities are above average and I believe there was a free iron provided for use. The on-site shop stocks all the usual things - although we did not find the welcome particularly friendly. There was also quite a nice children's play area (no kids so not sure how good it was!)
Go for the sea view and use of facilities across the road.

July 2004 I have not been camping before and was not sure what I was letting myself in for.
Seabarn is a lovely place, toilets etc: may been old but very clean. You get a warm welcome when you get there.
One of the best hols my family and I have had , so much so we are going for 2 weeks next year.

26-31/08/2003 This is a very basic site. It's licence is for tents only, although they accept motor homes as lomg as they are used as a mode of transport and a tent used for sleeping! The tenting fields are seperated by trees and hedges, some have a view of Chesil beach but access is not available to the sea although there is a farm walk which takes you down to the Heritage path. There are limited (24) electric hookups. BBQ's are allowed as long as they are off the ground. Water points and bins are located in each field. There are no disabled facilities nor a children's bathroom. The facilities are clean but old and some basins are cracked. The showers come out in short bursts of about 5 seconds and can be a little hard on the skin, so it may be wise to strip wash toddlers. There are no separating curtains in the showers so clothing on the hooks can become a little damp. There are two blocks of facilities with only three showers in each of the ladies, which could mean queueing when the site is full. It would also have been nice if there was soap and hand-drying equipment Remember to keep a damp flannel to hand! Dishwashing is outside. There is a old laundry room close to the playarea. The CDP is a hole in the ground (drain) with a tap. There is a shop that stocks basics and supermarkets are to be found in Weymouth itself. A playground is available on grass, no benches for parents though! Children are allowed ball games and kite flying. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. As long as you go knowing what to expect this site is not too bad. In fact due to the quietness at night, where the view of the night sky is fantantastic it could be ideal.

August 2003 The site was fairly quiet for a Bank Holiday weekend. The loos and showers were clean but be warned there were only 6 showers (3 for men, 3 for women) in our shower block (which was for four fields of tents). There was always a queue. It was very windy on the first couple of nights as you are in a high/exposed position - but the views were amazing and on the three other nights were were there the wind died down.
