Having read some reviews of this site that were less than complimentary I was a bit wary about staying there but I am so glad we did!
Beautiful views, amazing location and the pitch we chose was flat. We were near the new shower block which was spotless - especially as there were many people using it. There was a queue for the showers each time I used them but that is to be expected when the site is busy. Always plenty of hot water.
The £20 bond seems steep initially but what a great idea! It really did mean that it was quiet at bedtime. Really could do with doing the same for crying babies!
The staff were business-like and could do with being a little more friendly.
All in all, an excellent site with super facilities and fabulous views. Will go again!

We have recently stayed at this site.
The ladies who work at the reception didn’t seem to really care when we had an issue, tents were allowed to pitch right up to each other, the site was very crowded at peak season times
The swimming pool at the adjoining campsite was cold and the toilets and showers got very busy, sometimes queuing for up to 45 minutes to shower.
However, the campsite was very clean, it is in a lovely location, prices are average, the new toilet block near reception was very clean and modern, ehu pitches are a good size and level.
We will probably not stay here again, it’s a shame really as a lot of the time it is the other campers who are to blame, but then again it is up to the owners to keep everything under control

Fantastic site, with amazing views!
Of course it helped that we were chasing the shade as it was a super sunny weekend!
Pitched in the lower field, close to the 'older' toilet/shower block, which was perfectly adequate & very clean, although if we wanted it, it was only a few minutes walk to the super dooper all singing, all dancing new facilities!
£20 per person per stay 'quiet' bond for single sex/non family groups - quiet curfew is from 11pm. Excellent idea as it still allows single sex groups which many other campsites don't accept, but deters from very late nights & disturbed sleep! I do feel that parents of young children should also be ruled by the 'quiet' bond though, as twice I was disturbed by a crying baby/toddler - much more annoying than a group quietly chatting!
I definitely recommend this site & can't wait for a return visit - the sunsets are awesome!

On the hill side at the eastern end of Chesil Beach, this site is divided up into 'paddocks' by trees under-planted with hedging. The pitches are quite varied with some having spectacular views westwards along Chesil Beach, some have views out sea and others are completely enclosed. All areas have flat and sloping pitches with well cut grass.
Check in was very quick and took place in a reasonably well stocked shop, which offered hire of freezer packs. We arrived on a Monday afternoon and found a flat pitch with plenty of space and, although a bit disappointed that it wasn't 'a pitch with a view', the sheltered position more than compensated.
The two loo blocks were kept very clean. The older block was more than adequate with the only minor fault being a lack of shelving in the showers. The new block closer to reception was outstanding - even to the extend of having movement sensors on the shower facets and separate cubicles for basins. There was always plenty of hot water in both the showers and the washing-up areas. We didn't need to use the laundry room and so cannot comment on it.
There is a good pub in the village (sorry can't remember the name, but its left at the mini round about and first right) but we used Morrissons for food in the evenings.
Bridport is such a nice place and the market held on Wednesday made it even more interesting. Abbotsbury Gardens are breath-taking and in my view a must for any gardener.
We really rated this site, its atmosphere and its position and are intending to return.

This was our second visit to this site. We absolutely loved the site last year and had to return as there was so much to do.
The showers are cleaned several times throughout the day and the new block of showers have enough shelves and hooks for your knick knacks as well as a fold away seat. The showers themselves have heat sensors and movement sensors. There are also two family bathrooms although these had no soap and no hand drying facilities.
There are lots of sinks at the back of the shower block and the water is hot. The staff in the shop are friendly and helpful. There is a clubhouse and swimming pool on west fleet farm which is more child friendly and this is only a five minute walk.
We did try walking to abbotsbury along the coastal path but the farmer had churned up his field and had gone right to the edge of the of the coast making it impassable. We decided to drive to abbotsbury and it is well worth a visit with lots of galleries and tea rooms.
If we visit this area again we will definitely stay at this campsite again. It is well worth the money

Stopped here for 2 nights toward the end of July with the Mrs as part of a multi stop visit to the south of england, we thought the campsite was great, plenty of space, a nice little shop that seemed to stock all the things you need.
There is a newish toilet block near the reception but we we're camped near the older block, it was clean and tidy and had plenty hot water. The site is in a great location, wonderful views of the sea and a good view of the sunset (if the clouds play nice).
There is also a bus service that picks up from 4 sites total, 2 pickups in the morning and then 2 in the afternoon, timetable is in the shop.
It cost £3 return into Weymouth which was great, saved a lot of hassle with parking!. I'd definitely stop here again if I'm in the area.

If you want a campsite that has spectacular views, spacious pitches and excellent bathroom facilities this is the site for you. Have visited this site a few times over the past few years and the only thing that has changed is the price (now £18 per night for a tent with electric). The lady who runs the shop lives on site with her husband and hasnt changed at all, she is efficient, helpful and doesn't suffer fools gladly.
Site and facilities are kept clean and well maintained and the shop which is open in the morning and again in the evening for a few hours is quite well stocked.
Beautiful walk along the coast to Portland, bus back to chickerell but the walk back along the road to the campsite can be a bit of a nerve racking experience due to nutty drivers! Wouldn't recommend doing this with children.
Do not think we will stay at this site again as we are planning on getting a caravan next year and due to the aforementioned road you cannot tow a caravan here. Will recommend to friends who have tents though.

Beautiful campsite. The layout (path winding round and tree hedges) makes it feel quite intimate, slight slope to the ground. Great views of Chesil beach.
We tried both toilet/shower blocks and the one nearest reception is much better than the old one.
Old block is very basic - no shelf for toiletries in shower and no way to change temperature.
New block is great, includes hair drying facilities and according to OH great shaving light. As a result, this one had more of a queue on this busy bank holiday weekend. Both were very clean.
Very relaxing and quiet as away from all traffic. We did not try the shop or other facilities so can't comment on those.

I booked a single night in the middle of October, before the site closed for the winter. The site is part of a farm and there are several fields available, although only a couple were open when I was there (with two tenters/fishermen I think, and a late arrival 'van along with myself).
EHU was available on the same field as mine, along the far wall with the better views. The reception/shop was a short walk away and open for a short time in the morning but I didn't check it out because I was leaving early. The new toilet/shower/dishwashing block next to my field was one of the best I have ever visited.
The lady who I spoke to on the phone and who arrived and collected my fee (£7 for 1 'van + 1 person, no EHU) not long after I arrived pointed me in the direction of the walk around the farm. This takes you east down to Chesil Bank and then back west along the coastal path. It took me about an hour, and the beautiful sunset allowed me to see plenty of wildfowl on Fleet Lagoon (including a large group of swans) before I found myself in a field full of horses and then back on the road leading back to the site entrance. Because the site is right next to the coast you get a great view of Portland and Chesil Bank.
I imagine this place is very busy in the summer with holidaymakers and people fishing off the Bank.

Stayed here for six nights. We had a pitch with electric hook up near the shower block. Nice good sized level pitch with fabulous views.
The toilet block was superb with individual private wash cubicles and 4 showers. It was spotless and lovely and warm which was much appreciated as the weather was poor. There was also a laundry room and a family bathroom in the block.
I had a look at the other shower block at the other end of the site and although clean it was old and very basic, no wonder people came up from the lower fields to use the newer block. It was quiet while we were there in early July but I can imagine there might be problem with queues in high season.
The shop was pretty well stocked and sold burgers and sausages made from meat from their own farm.
The Elm Tree at Langton Herring a short drive away served great food. I can also recommend The Egg Cup Tearooms on the way to Bridport and the Hive Beach cafe at Burton Bradstock for cream teas.
The site is well situated for visiting all the places along the Jurassic Coast.
