Visited this site with husband, sister in law and her family including a 2yr old and 5yr old. Great site, staff unfriendly however this was the only downside.
Had booked 2 pitches with electric but when confirmation came through noticed they had put us down for 2 basic pitches. Decided not to correct though.
Toilet block was modern, and clean. Had 2 family bathrooms although thought they locked them too early at 6,30pm. There was washing room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, ironing board and iron also had a mirror and socket for hair dryer/straighteners. Washing up sinks outside but under cover.
Beautiful views from the site with a nice walk. Could also use the swimming pool at Westfleet about a 10min walk. We didn't but we had a looked and it looked fine. Plenty of space for the kids to run around.
Great location for visiting the area, would recommend it and would stay again.

Third visit since June 2009. Lovely site with marked out hookup areas. Large pitches I thought.
We have always gone 'out of season' so won't comment on high season times. Facilities kept very clean and new block had very modern and free facilities. Dogs welcome on a lead. Any noise we found was very quicky dealt with. Facilities at next site (West Fleet) available to us and good off season prices (book for 7 days pay for 6 if booked 2 weeks before).
Beautiful walks all round area and stunning views. Mini Tesco about 1 and half miles away and Asda about 3 miles away and easily found.
We shall be back.

This was our first time camping as a family. We found the location Brilliant, the toilet blocks were very clean (in fact cleanest I've every used on a campsite).
The layout of the campsite was great with the electric hook up we asked for and a safe area for our one year old to run around in. The way the campsite dealt with noisy groups was very commendable as their policy was to let them camp but if they disrupted anyone they got kicked off. This happened on our first night, by the time we got up the said group was packed and off.
With the children's playground it was a little below par as there was not a lot of younger children rides but was still better than nothing. On the whole a good campsite to visit and would recommend it to people

Me and my husband stayed at this site as our 1st back to camping trip, site was lovely, shower block wonderful and just what we needed to make sure we enjoyed our trip.
The shop was well equipped after forgetting the airbed bung and not having a bin etc the shop had everything! the staff not so nice.
Big sheltered pitch, short walk to water and older shower block, slightly longer walk to a shower, but that was fine, had the best weather of the whole year!
We would go back.

Toilets and showers very clean just a shame about the staff in the reception and in the shop. After a long journey we weren't even given a smile and hello just a woman shouting NAME! Hardly the reception you would give a paying customer. The site was quite full and it was difficult to find a pitch. The site was disorganised and it would be much better to allocate people pitches.

Great site. You can not go down to beach from site however. Fab views. Nice staff. Nice vibe. Did not want to go home.Crab fishing off west bay harbour great. East beach at west bay also great for sea fishing, kids and dogs. We had 5 kids(under 10) a dog and 4 adults and all had brill time.
Good dog walk around site BUT not allowed off lead as it is a working farm.
We had meal at sister site I paid nearly £20 for a rib eye steak meal. Was good meat but would expect bit more for price. Vege option was rubbish. Wardens do pick up on things if noise curfew is breached so not for late nighters.Past 11 pm and site was v quiet.
Would suggest site for friends to try but I don't like to re visit places. The world is too big don't you think??

The site looked beautiful on the website, I love Dorset, so booked a week's break here. I made the booking in February and so was surprised and disappointed to turn up to be told to 'pitch wherever I could find a space.' The site was absolutely packed. We finally squeezed into a small space.
The location of the site is stunning and its remoteness was perfect for us - once we got off the site and onto the South West Coast path for evenings walks, we really enjoyed the views of the lagoon and the solitude. But this was outweighed by our dread of returning to the campsite. Crowded and noisy, we felt as if we were camping on a muddy car park. The rule about only playing radios at a volume the user can hear was not observed or enforced and a noisy site is one of the things I get most distressed about so this was a real disadvantage for me.
The facilities were of a very high standard - lots of hot water and good sized showers. They were not especially clean but the bad weather contributed to this. A good washing up area - covered and again, plenty of hot water. The shop was small and over-priced. My son enjoyed the playground which was small but kept him entertained.
The area is beautiful and there is so much to do in Abbotsbury and Weymouth - the children's farm, swannery and sub-tropical gardens in the former and the beach (don't miss the donkeys) and sealife centre in the latter kept us busy for the whole week although further afield are Durdle Door, Poole, Dorchester, Monkey World - enough to keep you busy for a month!

On the whole, the campsite was well positioned, plenty of hedging to break up the pitches. There are 2 toilet blocks one very new the other is not, but perfectly functional. Our teenagers preferred the 2 min walk to the new block, my husband and I made do with the convenience of the old block. There is a shop with essentials but there is a huge Morrison 10 mins away.
The sister site with the pool was heaving with young families so we didn't bother going to use it, luckily the weather was kind enough for us to get to the beaches, BUT NOT THE BEACH VIEW YOU SEE IN THE PICS! There is no beach access at all from this site, you need to drive into Weymouth or go the other way towards Bridport.
We only have a cosy 4 berth tent to sleep in so we brought our day tent (gazebo with openable sides)to house our cooking bits, chairs and coolbox. The price per night for the gazebo was the same price as the tent - so in effect we not only paid for 4 people, but because we have the gazebo we were charged another 2 people with a tent. I did query my invoice in the morning and the woman in the shop said we could take it down and have a refund for the remaining nights - hardly practical really. All the surrounding sites were full so leaving was not an option, nor was taking down the gazebo. A expensive lesson learnt.
There is a costal walk from the site in both directions, one takes you to Portland and then its another 2 miles onto weymouth, if you have the energy!
You really need a car to get about, the roads are narrow and busy, so biking is for the brave of heart!
There was a play area for small children.
A good campsite in fairness but their pricing structure is madness. Take the biggest tent you can and leave the extras at home!

This was a really lovely campsite in a gorgeous location. The site was arranged in several areas, some of which had absolutely stunning views of Chesil Beach. Unfortunately the weather was appalling for our visit, so we chose a more sheltered spot near trees and hedges.
There were no marked pitches, so we were free to choose exactly where we wanted to be (although it was quite busy, and we were lucky with the time of our arrival I think).
There was a lovely walk down to the coast, which we did on the one morning it didn't rain. Good little shop which had a great range of stuff, considering the size.
The toilets and showers were absolutely spotless and never seemed to get too busy. Even the older block, which was nearest to our pitch, was very clean.
Met some lovely people - and just in case you read this - can I say a huge thank you to whoever found my daughter's teddy bear and handed him in at the shop. She was delighted to have him back!
Would certainly recommend this site.

We didn't get off to the best start once arriving. We left it until 2 days before we wanted to go before booking in case the weather was bad. The camp site has its own web-site for booking on-line but you need to allow at least 48 hours for a confirmation email; I decided to ring them and book over the phone, paying a £20 deposit.
When we checked into the reception, they had no record of our name or postcode. It appeared that that was that until my husband got a 'bit stroppy' and they agreed to check the credit card records (and found us!).
Despite that, we can't fault the site. The new shower block was lovely; always very clean and there are 2 family bathrooms with baths in (handy for washing a 2 year old who hated showers!).
The reception doubles as a shop which was very well stocked and I thought reasonably priced.
Going in June, we had no problems with over crowding and getting a shower wasn't a problem (helped by our 2 year old waking up at 5am).
The site is a bit remote but the view of Chesil Beach is lovely.
There is a children's playground there but most of what is there isn't suited to really young kids and there were no baby swings at all (which upset my son no end)
I would recommend this site, esp if you like camping with the comfort of clean showers, etc with hot water ALL DAY!.
All I suggest is that if you pre-book, do it on-line, don't phone.
