We spent four wonderful days at Bracelands. The site was really nice with very clean Showers and toilets. I would suggest you use the showers at the top of the camp site if you can. Even though it was Easter weekend and the camp site was busy, we had plenty of room and a nice pitch with electrical hook up. The staff were very helpful and the shop was small but well stocked for emergencies (Plenty of beer. LOL). We will definitely be going back for a long weekend. The children loved it and had plenty of fun.

We visited Bracelands on the Easter weekend, it is a beautiful setting amongst many beautiful colorful trees. The views were spectacular and the site was clean and tidy with plenty of bins and water taps. There were also a good area of hook ups for those who required these. The facilities, were clean and of a good standard, with plenty of hot water (nice and warm!) The woodland walk around the site was out of this world, enjoyed by us and our dog, who was most welcome on the site. An ideal site for dogs and children as it is away from any roads. Security was also good as you need a key for barriers. There was no children's playground. But there is one on the site next door (Christchurch) which is also a Forestry Commission site. Whilst in the area we visited "Yat Rock" near Symonds Yat. Where we were lucky enough to be able to see a Peregrine Falcon in its natural habitat. From here you can again see stunning views and across three counties. It is a short walk from a Forestry commission car park, but very well worth it. And on the way back to the car we stopped at the cafe for a welcome cup of tea and Ham Salad Roll. (Hot food also available). Would highly recommend the area and the site. We will definitely be going back.

Our first family camping trip this BH and had an excellent stay. Although the site was busy, we had a lovely pitch looking down into the forest valley. Plenty of space between units. Always managed to have a shower and wash up without much waiting. Would definitely return. Visited Puzzle World mentioned by another reviewer which was great, saw the Peregrine Falcons that were nesting at Symonds Yat and went on a sweet railway at Perrygrove (Kids 2 and 3 loved it). Very enjoyable

This was the sire that we first visited over two years ago and in April it was our fourth visit! This really is a fantastic site with good amenities although the two field shower blocks are slightly dated, but always clean. I can honestly say that this it is due to this site that we are now campoholics!

This is the second time we have stayed here and again it did not disappoint. There are some great walks around here, especially if you have a dog they love the river! The toilets were always clean and tidy and so is the site. I'm pleased that they have recycling facilities too.

We visited this site in the half term holidays and there was ample room for our tent. Excellent site overall (one of the shower blocks had no hot water but that was explained before we paid for our pitch) The prices are very reasonable and the area was excellent. All in all I would definitely return and recommend this site.
They do a discount for disabled users which we didn't realise until after we had paid but we explained we did not know this at the time of paying so we got a refund. Brilliant site and I am looking forward to returning in the summer.

We have stayed on this site a number of times and have always enjoyed it. We usually stay on the woodlands site, for which you need your own toilets. The site is literally cut into the trees, and most of the pitches are offset so you don't look straight at the people on the pitch opposite. In this way you have a lot of privacy.
Fantastic site if you are into the outdoors, you can literally walk off the site into the forest. There is a tremendous circular walk from the site to Simmonds Yat, and back along the river. There is a little cafe at Simmonds Yat and the views are incredible, weather permitting. You can also pop across the river on a ferry for foot passengers and nip into the pub for a recouperative beverage, before heading back. Marvellous. Monmouth is a very interesting and attractive town and well worth a visit.

May 2005 I recently visited this site for the first time since I was a child (I am now 27) and was very impressed with the whole site, even on bank holiday weekend it didn’t appear full.
We arrived on Saturday afternoon and found a flat pitch near enough to the toilet block very easily. There are no marked pitches as long as you pitch at least 20ft away from anyone else you are fine, this gives the impression that there is lots of space.
The toilet block was basic but kept very clean, the showers were always hot at the various times my party used them. They have recently installed a barrier system on the entrance to each of the sites which requires a key, you will need to leave a deposit (£5 on my visit) with reception when booking in in my opinion it’s a very good security measure. All in all a fantastic site and a fantastic weekend. I am definatley going back in the summer holidays.

May 2005 Spent bank holiday weekend here with 3 young children. Had such a good time we stayed an extra night.
Although the site was fully booked there was still plenty of room. Facilities were spotless and never over crowded and plenty of hot water etc. Wardens were friendly and helpful.
As the wheather was good there was plenty to do nearby (castles, steam trains, cycle rides, canoeing to list a few) and we would definitely return here in the future.
Only downside was the long wait to book-in on the Friday night. Their system needs reviewing for busy periods

May 2004 Expected the worst seeing as we arrived on Saturday of Bank holiday weekend and the traffic en route around Gloucester was not great. Booking in was efficient considering the number of arrivals but we had booked a week or so in advance. Found a pitch easily enough near to likely looking friends for the kids but conciously kept away from hook up area (towards centre of site) as preferred to be nearer the edge of the forest. Seemed to be plenty of room as the steeper sloping area doesn't get too populated. The Christchurch site (where reception is) looked well packed in comparison. Good mix of people including plenty of young families although Christchurch is labelled as being the family site. The view is great and very peaceful, no traffic noise whatsoever. The area is great for walking/biking but is hilly so quite hard work. Unsurprisingly with the numbers on site the toilet/shower area nearest the far end felt the strain with lack of hot water during peak times. They were regularly cleaned but I agree with earier reviewer that they could do with updating. No hot air blowers working either but did get good warm shower each day.
Don't want to end on a negative note though as this is a great site and we all had a great time and can't wait to go again.
