2 May 2004 We have been to Bracelands four times over the last three years and are going back there for half term at the end of May for 8 days.
It's a great site, in a brillient spot. Well maintained with Showers, tolets and dish washing facilities. A site shop and the local town of Coleford (3 miles away) offer all you need in terms of facilties.
A quiet wooded valley with the only building in sight being the top of a Norman Church Tower in a distant village. Best time to go the May half term which coincides with the Coleford Music Festival over the Bank Holiday weekend.
We are looking forward to a next visit in at the this month. This time in a caravan, only our second trip. Will let you have an update on the site when I return.
To sum up its a great site, Kids love it as its full of families with lots of other kids to play with and the wife and I can relax in the knowledge they are safe and focus on the great views.

April 2004 Really enjoyed our stay here. Arrived quite late on friday evening to a warm welcome from staff. Paid just over £10 a night (Car, Dome tent, 2 adults & electric hook up). The field we were in was slightly sloping (some areas are quite sloped but it was mostly caravans in this area. The 'non-electric' areas had lots of flatter places to pitch). The pitches seemed well spread out and we had a great view over the forest.
Facilities are excellent, lots of toilet / shower blocks with good washing up facilities which were kept clean. Found the water always nice and hot although the water pressure in the showers was slightly dodgy on sunday morning! There also seemed to be a number of laundry areas but these were closed for maintenance.
Slept like logs on Friday night. Unfortunately someone seemed to be having an all night rave on the saturday night (thump thump thump was all you could hear!). Spoke to the wardens in the shop on Sunday morning and discovered that they had been out that night checking the sites to make sure it wasn't on-site. It seemed clear that they would have sorted the problem out if it had been in their control. Nice to know there is someone about - shame the 'party' was off-site somewhere! I wouldn't let it put me off tho as it's a great place.
Had gorgeous fresh croissants for breaky on Sunday morning from the site shop, which was well stocked with food, alcohol etc!
We can't wait to go back!

April 2003 A clean and tidy site and the staff at reception were friendly and helpful. Some of the pitches are on quite a slope so aren’t all suitable for tents. The facilities were good, although at busy times the water pressure was a little dubious in some of the showers. Plenty of hot water and washing up facilities.

june 2003 We go there at least 4 times a year (due to relations up the road)and this year when we first went in May,our daughter Louise fell off her scooter and had to go to hospital as we thought she may have broken her wrist, she had only sprained it in 2 places.the staff was so concerned and kept asking us if she was okay(they know our faces very well When we went back in June they asked me how Louise's hand was. Sercurity is fantastic, every thing is always kept clean. It is a huge quite site and there is plenty of walks in the forrest. The site is completely surounded by the forrest

July 2003 A great weekend camping venue which is managed by the Forestry Commission. No marked out pitches here - just lots of space to stretch out (there are lots of hook ups for those that require it).
The landscape is reminiscent of that in the PC game Black & White (anyone?). We did what the other reviewer did, drove on past the first site and the second Woodlands site (which is great if you are self-contained and don’t require facilities to hand). Bracelands itself is a series of, as the brochure describes, ‘gently sloping fields’. I’d say the inclines on some pitches are slightly more than gentle, but don’t let this put you off.
Great to be in a tent enclave again (tons of caravan pitches too though). A good mixture of people – some small school trips, groups of friends, many, many families and some couples. There’s no specific children’s play areas but loads of space to run around between the tents. I don’t mind this even though we don’t have children but I guess it might not suit everyone.
Facilities are fairly basic. Lots of loos and wash basins and a good amount of free showers although I did have to wait for one at one time and when I got in there was hardly any pressure and it was only tepid but this was only one example and indeed the other times we used the facilities we were quite impressed by the temperature controls which you don’t find on every site. There are also a good amount of washing up sinks under cover.
The staff at reception, which is at the main Christchurch site, were very helpful and there was a small shop. The site is patrolled by a warden so there is always someone on hand if there are any problems with noise etc.
There are many footpaths to take, some more obvious than others – it’s great walking country.
Although I’m not sure I would want to spend a week there, I would really recommend it as a weekend venue.

May 2003 We avoided the family site at the entrance as it was packed. We went down the lane, into Bracelands where the views were fantastic. A beautiful, well kept site with fantastic views and the bonus is that no change is needed for showers, sinks and dishes.
There is so much to do in the immediate area but the site itself was in such a peaceful location with no traffic noise from anywhere. The very occasional Red devil flying overhead just added to the interest.
Dont leave without a visit to Puzzle wood (5 miles) the most amazing place i have seen for ages, and the sculpture trail (4 miles). Take you bikes. Fantastic. Cant wait to go back.
