We stayed at this site for one week from 17th August. I spent some time on this website trying to find the best one, with good reviews etc - and what a gem. The wardens were lovely, from the start of the booking to the end of our stay. They were honest about the pitches available as the only one available on the Saturday was by the road, but offered us a better pitch if we arrived on the Sunday. They were always on hand if you had any queries - and were alwayshappy to help.
The site is very well maintained and the showers were always spotless. I was concerned that only two showers on a full site would be an issue - but I had to wait only once during our stay. I think this is actually helped because you have to pay 20p which stops people hogging!
The play area in the wonderfully restored barn was a welcome amenity as it worked well for two 12 year olds that have outgrown the smaller playground attraction.
Do be warned that there isn't a shop on site but Morrisons is only a 3 minute drive away, so pick up your basics before you get there. The Fighting Cocks just down the road served very good and reasonably priced home cooked food.
In all - a great place to stay.

Having just had stayed at the Old Barn Touring Site, we wish to highlight the excellent support and helpfulness of the couple who are wardens there.
These are kind and caring people - multi tasking to meet the needs of visitors to the site.
Due to an unfortunate breakdown of our car upon disembarking from the Southampton ferry we arrived by taxi. Having unpacked our tent, equipment, belongings etc. And in spite of the weekend ahead and increasing arrivals, our hosts could not do enough to ensure we had everything we needed to make our break enjoyable. We were even offered a lift to our car where public transportation was limited.
We also found the layout of the pitches attractive and carefully maintained and were impressed by the neat clipped hedges and lawns of this site in a pretty area of the Isle of Wight
If we have any criticism we did find that only two showers in the ladies and gents blocks were restricting. Aside from this they were well maintained and clean.

Just returned from a short break at Old barn Touring. Booking was made online and the park organised ferry travel for us. The warden confirmed the booking with a phone call and email and it was all very easy and pleasant. The site is small and very pretty. We had a large plot and there was a slight slope but as long as the beds were facing the right way that didn't matter too much.
The weather had been awful and the entire camping field at the bottom of the site, which is really the tent area, was sodden so the owners and wardens had managed to accommodate everyone in the main area and we had plenty of space. The toilet facilities were dated but clean. The showers had lots of room, with a bench and hooks so everything doesn't get wet.
They cost 20p but there is ample time to shower. The games room was fab for our kids when we were putting the tent up and down, and was a godsend when the weather was bad, giving the kids time to practice their table tennis skills.
Locally there was a Morrisons store within a three minute drive, numerous pubs. One that is about a five minute drive is the Fighting Cocks which has great food and a wonderful play area for the kids. As the island is so small the site is a good base to get anywhere and to reach the ferry terminal.
Finally, the site was run extremely well with friendly, helpful staff, who made us all feel very welcome. If we go to the IOW again we would return to this site.
On the whole, despite the daily rain, we had a great stay.

My wife and I (with 2 kids and 2 dogs) made a last minute booking to this campsite for the May bank holiday weekend.
I can say that we were not disappointed with our choice. From the first phone call and subsequent emails, the owners were extremely helpful, polite and courteous.
On arrival, we were shocked to find that the site wasn't as busy as we expected it to be! We were shown to our extensive pitch, and given a quick explanation of the site.
The facilities were spotlessly clean, with ample space in the shower cubicles and plenty of hot water. The showers are 20p per cycle, which gives you plenty of time (unless you have long hair that you want to wash and condition!)
The grounds were immaculately clean, with recycling bins beside the amenities.
We didn't use the TV/games room as we wanted to explore the local area, but we did have a look inside. Again, these were immaculately clean.
Once we pitched, we took the dogs for a walk to explore, and once again met the owners, who made us feel as if we were family.
In all my years of camping around Europe, I'd have to say that this small site is up there with the best of the sites in the UK, and it easily beats the big boys of the business.
I would not hesitate in staying here again, as we were made to feel as if we belonged, which you don't get too much of these days.
There are several pubs nearby (one within walking distance, next to Morrisons) and a few more within a 5 minute drive, all of which were dog friendly.
The only downside we could find, would be the proximity to the Isle of Wight airport, but as we were out exploring everyday (there are no aircraft at night), it wasn't that much of a big deal!

The Old Barn must be one of the prettiest island parks. It has a very attractive layout with small groups of pitches separated by beech hedges which gives a degree of shelter and privacy. There are lots of flowers and roses around the old barn games room.
It had been very easy to book online for our pitch and we included a ferry crossing from Southampton which was a really exciting 1 hour trip - very much enjoyed by our two grandchildren. We found the Park easily from the ferry port.
We had a warm welcome and we were allocated a very nice corner pitch where we could erect our awning to give us some welcome shade from the heatwave.
The spacious showers are very powerful and each has separate changing areas. The laundry is excellent value too. There is large and easy to use family/disabled shower room.
Our granddaughters love playing table tennis in the big barn.
The Park is situated near to both Sandown and Shanklin and is on a regular bus route. The nearby beaches are really great. We went to Yaverland where there is a big car park right on the beach with a café and good loos. There is also a public slipway where we could launch our dinghy and the beach is dog friendly.
We all do a lot of walking and found that the bridleway, accessed directly from the Park, connected into the whole island footpath network and the cycleway from Sandown to West Cowes. Our dog enjoyed the country walks too.
The Park is very well run with friendly owners and wardens who seem to have lots of local knowledge about the best places to visit.
We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Just returned from a fabulous two weeks on the sunny Isle of Wight.
Our pitch was very spacious which was good because we have a very large tent.
Our three year old loved to go to the playground. It was very small just a couple of bouncy toys and a Wendy house which we couldn't, t keep her out of
We played table tennis in the barn while our daughter watched tv. We were surprised that more people did not use this facility.
As the weather was so good we spent the days on the beach at Shanklin and the evenings around the park. The showers were very refreshing after a day on the beach.

Our holiday did not start off on a good note. After a long preparation and loading up our little car to the brim, as well as roof box and bikes on the back we arrived at Southampton docks to find we were not booked onto the ferry. We contacted the site manager who told us our holiday had been cancelled as we had not replied to 2 emails and written reminder sent and had not paid the balance due (I have been extremely busy and had overlooked the minor point of actually paying for the holiday!) Being a very organised person by character I was of course devastated. The lady on the phone from the site said not to worry, asked for our mobile phone number and she would ring me back. Indeed she did. She had got us booked on the next ferry, only one hour later, and we could sort out the money with her when we arrived at the site.
It was an unfortunate bad start to what turned out to be a great camping holiday on our chosen site, mainly due to the kindness and understanding of the site manager.
The site is a small, quiet, well-equipped one run by very friendly people who take care of every detail and need for a stay with them. They are at hand for all campers needs and despite our lack of attention to the various notices put up for the benefit of all their patience was very evident.
The site itself is very picturesque and extremely well laid out to give campers a degree of privacy which we liked. The facilities provided and layout of the ample provision of clean wash facilities for campers, their dishes and their clothing, as well as for families and disabled campers was all thought of. I particularly liked the large number of little notices put up to make clear what was expected of users to ensure the place was kept clean and respectable for fellow campers! Very environmentally friendly site offering recycling for most common recyclable materials. The reception area also offered an array of information on offer for visitors.
We had idyllic weather, no rain, and had a number of very interesting and honest chats with the site managers about the site, island history and sites to visit all of which were invaluable to the enjoyment of our stay with them.
Lovely people, lovely site and would highly recommend this site for a great and memorable stay on the island.

Just returned from a two week stay at this site.
Plus points are:
Easy distance to Morrison’s superstore and nearby resorts
A pretty site
Friendly wardens especially one (the exocet!)
Easy to get to from the ferry with no single track roads (sometimes a problem on the IOW)
Easy access to the site from main road (I have a large twin axle)
Showers and toilets are clean
Lots of water and waste points
Minus points for us are:
Very uneven pitches, take blocks of wood to stop overstretch of corner steady’s
Low amperage hook up points and inability to reset, you have to pester the warden
Tranquillity is spoilt by 1. Aeroplanes 2. Scrambler motor bikes in nearby fields 3. A disturbance on the next site that hosts permanent residents in statics
Can have issues getting on and off the grass pitches
The advertised service pitches have all been allocated to permanent residents
In Summary:
A nice site and enjoyed the stay but it is outdated and needs an overall, would I stay again? No, there are better sites with better facilities at the same cost.

We stayed here for 11 nights and had a great holiday.
The site is divided into small paddock type areas rather than one large field. We were on the none-electric field right at the back of the site which was very flat and sheltered and our pitch was huge.
On site there is a laundry room (£1 tokens available from the warden and a free iron available for use), clean pot wash area, games room (with pool table, TV, lending library, garden games etc), family/disabled washroom and both male and female bathrooms. In the womens, there are plenty of toilets, 2 showers and several cubicles with sinks for having a private wash and spruce up. There is a hair dryer available for everybody to use and the showers are 20p, they are very powerful and hot and the 20p gives long enough for a good shower but when I was washing and conditioning my hair I used 40p. All of the facilities were spotlessly clean and there was always loo paper, hand towels, soap etc.
There is a small play park suitable for very young children on site near to the toilet block, there is also a pond with some scary looking and fairly vocal geese!
The site is next door to the Isle of Wight airport so bare in mind that there are low flying and loud planes frequently passing. They are only light aircraft and we quite enjoyed watching them take off and some even did air acrobatics which we loved watching.
The site is well located, close to Sandown and Shanklin and we found it a great base to explore the beautiful Isle of Wight.
Morrisons is literally 2 minutes drive down the road (left out of the site) but drive a little further in the opposite direction and you will be at Farmer Jacks Farm Shop at the Arreton Barns Craft Centre- this is a great shop selling amazing local produce at reasonable prices.
We found the wardens on site to be helpful- told us all we needed to know but we didn't find them particularly friendly. We felt a little as if they didn't want us there from the offset- they seemed to be fine with other visitors and we felt it was a case of because we are under 30- they expected us to be a nuisance.
Would we go back to the Old Barn? No.
The site is great and we enjoyed our stay but there are so many other sites to try out the next time we visit the Island that it would be a shame to go to the same place twice!

This site is very nice and the people in charge were very nice too. We booked this site together with the ferry all in and it was extremely easy and convenient. The pitches as someone else has said are laid out in small areas of approx 4 with hedges/trees between each area. A lot of people would like this but I prefer a more open field like aspect and I felt a little closed in. The grass on our pitch was a little long and the ground was also a little soft which resulted in our motor mover struggling a bit to manoeuvre into position. Also the entrance into our area was a little narrow and the Warden came and assisted us in, the entrance really could have been made a bit bigger we felt.
The toilets and showers were fine, and we found that at 20p a go you had quite enough time for a decent shower. The only gripe I would have is that only 2 showers in the ladies and 2 showers in the mens are not enough for a site of this size, and problems could easily arise in the height of the season. There is a disabled shower room available however. I did not use the laundry room so am unable to comment on that.
The site in all is very pleasant and has a 'cosy feel', it is well situated with a huge Morrisons just down the road, together with a petrol station. Lots of towns/villages are in easy reach and loads to do on the Island. There is wifi available for a small charge, and all in all we found the people very friendly and helpful.
We would recommend this site to people but I don't think that we will return to it because as I said before we do prefer a more open aspect. The electricity is only 10 amps so you do have to be a bit careful but on the whole we enjoyed our stay. There is a small childs play area, but because of the hedges and trees etc it would be very hard to watch your children playing from your pitch. Having said that there is a nice children's games area in the barn together with seating and telly which is a nice touch.
