If you don't want clubs & fast food this is for you. Although on the main Sandown road, there is no traffic noise and you could think you was in the middle of nowhere. The site is well divided with shrubs & bushes giving a good sense of privacy. Good clean facilities regarding toilets & showers. If in I.O.W. Again wouldn't hesitate in using this site again

Me and my family stayed at this site for two weeks. The toilets & showers are spotless, they sell most things you need in the shop on site ,or if they don't have what you need there is a major supermarket about 3/4's of a mile away.
My two kids (aged 2&6) spent all there spare time on the play area and had a great time.
The two warderns on the site can't do enough for you. This is the second time we have stayed and is one of the best camp sites we have visted. We will be staying again next time we vist the isle of wight.

We have just spent a wonderful 10 days at this site. We found it well organised, clean, comfortable, peaceful and relaxing. The layout was wonderful and the wardens superb. Well located for most of the islands main attractions ( not that you have that far to go to the furthest point!) Couldn't wish for a better site! Hope to get back another year - keep up the good work Stuart and Alison.

This site is next to the Isle of Wight Airport - not a problem for us - we had a free airshow on the Saturday and Sunday (VE Day celebrations) - it was WOW. Well planned site, very clean, level pitches, good toilet and washing up facilities (20p showers/free hot water for washing up). We didn't have the best sited pitch (but it was spacious enough) as we had booked late and we were put with a couple of motor homes. Other pitches were enclosed by hedges and made this a very quiet site. The pond is completely fenced off - a little fence you can stand by. Good base to explore IOW from.

June 2004 We came upon Old Barn campsite by chance. we had not booked anywhere in advance.
Originally booked for one night but then extended for a further ten days as we were impressed with the park.
The wardens Allison and Stuart were very helpful. Our pitch was very spacious with electrical hook up .
The Isle of Wight was a great place for our visit. we simply did not have enough time to see all the places we wanted to. We realy enjoyed Osborne House and spent a whole day there.
We have already reserved our pitch for 2005 at old barn again.

August 2004 This is an excellent campsite. We were delighted with the quality of the facilities. The Wardens were excellent, friendly, helpful and had lots of local knowledge. The toilet factilies were good, spotlessly clean and tidy, cleaned several times during the day. The showers were large, water was at the correct temperature and flowed well. The pitches were in small groups surrounded by hedges, pitches were large enough, when we visited the site it was reasonably full, but didn't feel to be. If you are looking for a quiet site without entertainment then this is for you. Good location, close to beaches at Sandown and Shanklin, with access (via bridleway) to the new cycle path that runs from Sandown to Newport along and old railway bed. Supermarket is a minutes drive. Some of the campsite backs on the main road, however the majority of pitches are well away from the road and recieved no road noise. All in all a great site, we shall return again.

2001 The Old Barn near Sandown is basic, though not overly so (facilities aremodern and clean if a little basic). The website says 60 pitches but itdidn't seem that big when we were there. The site is divided up withhedges to give some shelter and so you feel less exposed. We found the rates reasonable too, spent a very happy week there.
