After reading the reviews I booked 3 nights stay at the Pig Place and was really looking forward to a relaxing stay, walks along the canal etc. As soon as I arrived the constant noise from the M40 was an issue. The owner said it was only due to wind direction. Trains then thundered past and I realised this was not a great choice of campsite. After a sleepless night due to the constant traffic noise I spoke to the owner and explained that I had to leave and asked if it was possible to be refunded any of the costs? (£60 paid for 3 nights) She said not as she had turned down bookings as we were here. I looked online and saw pitches were still available so felt very disappointed. Even if the extra car charge of £5 per night had been refunded I would have been happy. Please do NOT pay this extra charge as you can leave your vehicle in the huge layby just outside the gate. This is clearly a money making venture and I was bitterly disappointed. I can recommend this site if you are a townie who doesn't mind your personal space being invaded and would like to see pigs, chickens and ducks you will love it but if you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful, get away from it all break, don't bother! I found a wonderful site on a working farm not too far away, half the price (with no charge for an extra vehicle)and quiet with acres of space and had a wonderful stay.

What a great find, very much back to basic living perfect, very friendly.
Loved the pig feeding in the mornings plus great cafe (fab coffee)
A must have if you love pigs, chickens, duck.
There is no showers & only 1 toilet but not an issue for a couple of nights.
Thank you loved our weekend
I have given site facilities 10 out of 10 as you got what it says

What a FANTASTIC site. Stayed here with daughter (young adult) for 2 nights. We loved it!
A beautiful setting, very relaxed, enjoyed breakfast from the food van each morning.
Our most favourite bit was sitting on the sofa overlooking the canal, particularly in the evenings with a pit fire.
Can't recommend The Pig Place enough!

We arrived early afternoon on the Sunday at the end of half term holiday. We were welcomed by the owner and shown around the basic facilities ( we knew what to expect as the website explains it. So no problem there)
The site is gently sloping but with enough places to find a flat spot.
This is a working smallholding, so there are pigs, sheep, fascinating ducks, hens and dogs. We also spotted kestrels, buzzards, bats, and birds too numerous to mention.
The site is situated on the canal, with the motorway and railway nearby, there was some noise but not enough to bother us and we had a great nights sleep.
Plentyof walking along the canal (the pub is about 1/2 hour stroll along the canal bank, and excellent it was too)
All in all a basic site but with the animals and the welcoming and helpful owners a great place to stay for a couple of days.
Highly recommend this place, if we are ever in the area again we will be back.

What a brilliant place to stay for a total relax. I chose the pig place solely because it was directly on the canal. My mum and dad have a narrowboat and are slowly making their way to London, from Bolton, Manchester. Myself, my husband and 2 kids (9 and 11) met my parents at the pig place as they was able to moor their boat for a measly 10 pounds a night and enjoy the experience as well.
The proprietors were extremely welcoming and encouraged my children to help at feeding times, which they loved. There are geese, ducks, dogs, cats and a few escaped piglets that are roaming free which adds to the whole experience.
Dogs are truly welcome (we took our crazy springer) but they do need to be on a lead, not a short one, we took a ground screw and and a 4. 5 metre tether and the owners had no complaints.
There is a seating area (which surprisingly isn't mentioned on the web site) with a barbecue and 3 iron crates, perfect for a fire pit, available for you to use.
The breakfast in the mornings, that is cooked at the farm shop, is of good quality and will definitely see you through till tea time.
If my parents embark on the same journey next year, this will most definitely be the place we return to (children's orders). The lack of facilities will not put us off returning as the location and friendly atmosphere way outweighed them.

The site is in a beautiful part of England which is slightly spoilt by the continual hum of the M40 which shares the valley. The facilities were basic but one is forewarned about this. The pigs were very happy to see us. Both nights we walked to the Great Western Arms, Hook Norton beer.
We were somewhat taken aback to be unpleasantly chastised by the owner when we phoned and told her we were held up by traffic and would not arrive for another 30 minutes. On arrival the welcome was not over effusive and we were surprised to see that other people arrived after us. Whether they received the same rant over the phone I didn't ask.
People with young children will find this a fantastic basic cheap site but it is not one I would be coming back to.

We hired a motorhome for 5 nights. This was our last stopover before returning the motorhome. We were able to book in advance before our holiday which after speaking to the owner on the phone was an easy online process to complete.
Our 2 children (9yrs and 6yrs) were most excited about this one night stopover knowing that there would be animals and canal boats. As it was winter we new in advance that we would be sited in front of the barn on a hard standing as opposed to in the camping field - this suited us just fine as the setting was at the top of the site with great views over the canal and the surrounding countryside. In the distance are the train line and the motorway (not a surprise as this is clearly marked on any map) - the distance was sufficient to avoid there being any concern regarding noise.
We received a very warm welcome by the owners and once sited were able to by the most delicious meats from the farm shop and then allow the children to see the animals being fed.
We didn't need any facilities for washing/toileting as the motorhome had it all, we made use of the chemical disposal conveniently located on the way out.
Before we departed to return the motorhome we enjoyed a walk along the canal to Anyho where there is a nice marina and a pub (we didn't sample this as it was too early), the walk on the towpath is easy and very pleasant passing a couple of locks.
We would recommend this site to friends and family and would consider going back for more than one night in the warmer months in our regular facilities - trailer tent.
Thank you for such a wonderful experience.

My 8 year old son and I were looking for a last minute weekend getaway and we stumbled on 'The Pig Place'. Oh what a little gem. Fabulous warm welcome from Sara and the dogs. This is a real working small holding specializing in pigs but there are lots of other animals inc. Ducks, Chickens and not forgetting The VERY friendly cat. Facilities are quite basic (chem Loo !). We were really surprised by the Farm shop which supplied all you could need and more. What really took us by surprise was Hot Food/ Breakfast available on site. Yum. Very nice home produced bacon and eggs went down great.
Lovely location next to canal. Excellent for walking or biking.
Wonderful site for kids and adults alike. We will be returning very soon.
Thank you 'Pig Place'

The Pig Place was an absolute gem of a find. We stayed here whilst visiting the gamefair at Blenheim Palace. The smallholding was ideally set by the canal with a lovely little farm shop selling everything you may need from your stay. The breakfast from their snap cabin was lovely and nice that they used their own produce.
As they are a working farm the only had a festival toilet but it was kept clean and air freshener was provided within! Showers would be nice but understandably are a luxury!
Upon leaving we even bought a Khaki Campbell duck off Sarah and Dean. Her name is Alberta and she is currently forming allegiances with my two Aylesbury's whilst defending herself from my evil chickens!
