Stayed here for 1 night as a backpacker which, it turns out, is pretty unusual for this site. Don't know why -
It's very peaceful in a beautiful area on the edge of the Peak District with lots of footpaths around it and pubs within easy walking distance.
Facilities are good and clean, tent field is large, gently sloping and well mown and the owner (Vic I believe) was very welcoming and easy to deal with and chat to.
If you're hiking in the area you should make this a stop!

Both our dogs loved it.

Well
3 Years since our last visit, and I must ask ourselves why we left it so long. !
This time we stayed on a grass pitch, and even with sloping area we managed to pitch ok.
Took the Grand daughter with us this time, and even with no play area she made friends, and had a great time.
Toilets and showers where same as before and still very clean, site well kept, with the new pods around the lake area.
Things will change over the winter period with the site gaining residential status as well.
So we will have to wait and see what that looks like.
Will it mean more hard standing going forward as well, or not.
But whatever happens I expect that the site will go from strength to strength.
Pleasure to spend time there again, keep up the great work Vic.

The campsite is in a lovely setting, with easygoing helpful hosts. All in all a pleasant stay.
Would benefit from a child’s play area to keep the kids entertained

Just returned from an amazing short camping break.
The owners are friendly and obviously keen to make your stay enjoyable.
Facilities are clean and showers were always warm. The fishing lake on site is a bonus and Vic even lent us a rod so that I could teach my eldest to fish. The fish all look in great condition.
Site is slightly sloping, but this didn’t prove too problematic.
We will definitely be returning!

We initially booked for 4 nights and chose to stay an extra night. Well appointed campsite in stunning surroundings located next to a busy road, not far from Ashbourne, Belper, Carsington Water and the Tissington Trail.
A short drive or approx 2 mile walk across the fields to one of the local pubs. Vic and Julie are the perfect hosts where nothing is too much trouble.
Lovely clean facilities and very reasonably priced.
Only criticism was the frequent barking of other campers dogs, but hey ho you can't have everything.

This is a lovely site, with a beautiful fishing pond. If you are looking for peace and tranquillity this is the place. Victor (the owner) is most pleasant and helpful person you could ever wish to meet.
The site is in the country side, not far from Ashbourne, but with plenty of places to visit.
It has three toilets and two showers for women and the same for men. Which where kept spotless.
We would definitely visit this site again.

We stayed here for 3 nights after the bank holiday so the site was quiet, mainly set up for caravans but plenty of space for us to pitch where we liked Victor gave us a choice of probably 20 pitches!
the field is slightly sloping but not a problem as we found a fairly level spot. Loved the relaxed feel of this site with well behaved dogs allowed off the lead.
Facilities were good nice hot free showers, only thing that could be improved would be a freezer in the washing up area for cool blocks rather than exchanging with Victor every day.
Nicely located site close enough to the main roads without any overbearing road noise and plenty of places to go.
Will hopefully return with the bikes as there are plenty of traffic free routes to try.
