Really peaceful and quiet site. The owners do everything to make your stay comfortable. Plenty of room - we were in the main camping field and even over the bank holiday weekend it didn't seem crowded. Being woken by birdsong was a joy.
There are no washing up facilities and the toilets/showers are a little basic - but clean and we were fine with this. (Apparently these are being upgraded this year. ) EHC was available for some of the tent pitches. Nearest shops were in Belper or Ashbourne which are worth visiting anyway - there is a garage nearer for milk etc, but we didn't find that!
So right now if it is super luxury camping, this is probably not for you, but great for getting away from it all!

Fantastic campsite really nice owners make you feel very welcome and don't rush you to leave campsite, good facilities and fantastic fishing, my partner loved the fishing caught some really good size carp, very dog friendly didn't even have to be kept on the lead, very very impressed will definitely be returning again this year and lots next year.

Great campsite with warm and friendly owners, we booked for three nights over the bank holiday weekend and apart from the extensive rain it was thoroughly enjoyable. The facilities need to be increased now the site is expanding as when full there is a wait for showers during peak periods. Pitch we had at the top of the site had lovely views of the small pool and the fishing very good, will be back as soon as we can vacancy permitting.

I have to agree with the other reviewers. We regularly stay at Blackbrook Lodge; sometimes with a group of friends, sometimes with just my husband. Everything is brilliant. The views from our caravan windows would be difficult to beat. The owners are very friendly and obliging and nothing is to much trouble. Experienced a couple of spectacular sunsets this year which made everything look even more lovelier than usual. The quintessentially English town of Ashbourne is just down the road which is well worth a visit. Would strongly recommend this site to anyone; young or old. It is also very child and dog friendly. And if you are a fisherman. Bliss.

Hi there do not normally leave feedback or reviews, but thought I must do for this one
We are a seasoned campers but I must say the welcome we give when we arrived was and contact over the phone was excellent, the owners could not be more accommodating, nothing was to much.
The site it's self is very clean and kept in immaculate condition with some very lovely ponds around the site, available to fish in if required. We did not fish but wi do next time we visit this site
The views are top notch and could not fault.
We took or 3 dogs and the walks around the area where all good and varying degrees of hardness.
Would highly recommend

We went from Monday 19th august 2013 to Friday 24th august 2013 we had great time. The people there were very friendly people and easy going, they made us feel very welcome. The fishing facilities were good and we can't wait to return in the next few weeks. We would recommend to anyone who likes a quiet and relaxing break. Been to many campsites for throughout the years in England and Ireland but I must say this is one of the best ones I have to been to.

Just got back from a 4 day stay with our 3 children (aged 2, 5, 9). We all loved the stay so much as we were leaving we discussed booking up for next years visit when we get home! Beautiful views from every angle with acres of space and good size pitches. We had so much space around the van it was unreal, giving the kids loads of space to run around and play football. The pitches tended to have quite a good slope making it difficult to pitch but once you got it level only needed the odd adjustment over the 4days. They had a lovely little fishing lake with lovely views and everybody on site (8-10 vans) were so friendly it really was like a little community. The owners were the most welcoming and friendly, kind and helpful people we have met. They seriously couldn't be nicer! Toilets were fine and clean and didn't bother us that there were no washing up area. Ashbourne and belper were a 10 min drive away and have everything you need. We had a day out at midlands railway in butterly hill which the kids loved. All the dogs on site were either kept on lead or if not they were so friendly it was a pleasure to see them playing with the kids. A must come if relaxing and family time is on your agenda.

Positives:
Pretty site, clean shower and toilets, site not over crowded. Close to Ashbourne (15 mins in car) with good pubs a short drive away. Local takeout will deliver to campsite (Taj of Belpur) and was very good quality. Site owner very helpful, even drove 4 of us to the pub and was happy to offer fishing roads for on-site carp lake. B&B on site looks very nice also. No additional charge for showers, tent was £10, £15 with electric h-up.
Negatives: Can't walk to pub/local shop. Only 3 toilets, 1 hand basin and one shower for ladies; 2 toilets, 1 hand basin and 1 shower for males. No washing up area.

Just returned from a weeks stay at this wonderful campsite. On arrival we were met by the owner who was there specially to meet us and show us to our pitch that was overlooking a small lake that was was well stocked for you fishermen. It's a lovely well hidden site where the wild life will keep you company if nothing else. I couldn't fault this site at all and will look forward to a return visit.
The downside of the holiday was down to us as were not sure where to go for shopping as we didn't know this area we were travelling miles but well worth it for the scenery. We finished up going to Belper where there is a Morrisons and a Co Op so all shopping problems sorted. A visit to Belper River Gardens also a must. Also this site is well situated for those days out in Derbyshire where some of the best scenery in the country will be seen.

Just had a lovely bank/holiday weekend with our friends. (3 caravans)
we positioned our caravans overlooking the lovely fishing lake, even the ducks come close so you can feed them. It was so relaxing and quiet, lovely surrounding views.
The owners were friendly but very rarely saw them.
Nearest pub is about a mile & half walk away, very helpful even got laptop out so we could watch football.
Only a short drive away is Belper and Ashbourne.
We are hoping to return sometime later on this year.
(Only one fault the showers were not finished)
