We have recently been on a weekend camping trip to Wood Farm. The location of the site is lovely, offering excellent views over the valleys. It is a very big site with a few separate camping fields, therefore there is plenty of space. Very convenient location for visiting Alton Towers, Croxden Abbey (2 miles away), and many more lovely places.
The washing facilities were very clean and pleasant, however quite limited. There was only one male and one female separate shower, toilet and sink available. It was a busy weekend when we stayed and there was some waiting around for showers and to use the toilet in the morning. The wash room was not very big either, so there was a bit of dodging about with other people when trying to use the one sink! The site would greatly benefit from having more facilities, and some shelves to put your toiletries on when having a wash.
On the first night there were unfortunately some noisy campers shouting and screaming in the middle of the night, which we were not too pleased about. Also, an inconsiderate camper playing loud music! This of course was not the fault of the campsite, however it may be beneficial for the owners to keep a look out for noisy campers!

Whats to say, this is by far one of the best sites I have stayed on, always helpful, accommodating, friendly etc - they should bring the CC wardens here to train them! excellent value for money and basically an absolute treasure of a find for us. Regular visits for sure.

My four year old son has been asking me for months if we can go camping, I have never camped before, never lit a fire or cooked on a bbq before. (not sure how I got to 35 and never done any of them). So after months of saying NO! I got fed up of spending every weekend talking to my son through the laptop or fighting with him to get off the sofa and put the electronics down and go out play. I read through some reviews and found Wood Farm, its only 15 minutes from our home, so I thought we'd give it ago. Being 15 minutes from home, if the worst comes to the worst, we could jump back in the car and come home.
When driving up the track to get into wood farm, my first word was WOW! There were cows and sheep everywhere. Over the cattle gate and onto the farm, we were met by Sue, She showed us around the main farm area, where there is a washing pots area (with washing up liquid and bowls) a little outhouse area with numerous leaflets for things to do and take away menus (that deliver to the farm). And a shower room and toilet, that was on par with a shower from a hotel.
Then Sue walked us up, and we drove, passed the barn, some chickens, passed 2 bulls, and a little duck pond that as newts and tadpoles in, up to a field were we could pitch our tent. The field had the most amazing views in every direction and we weren't packed in, there were plenty of people in the field but there was plenty of space between us.
Sue left us to pitch the tent and about 20-30 minutes later Nick drove up to check we were okay and if we need any help, and also dropped us off a big bag of logs for the fire.
Once you have got your tent up there are numerous woodland walks, from 20 minutes long to 45 minutes, that go all around the farm woods and are really safe, and you cant get lost but lots of fun for any adventurous little monkey and for the adults one of the longer walks takes you down to some roman(?) ruins, which are fascinating. Also 5 minutes in a car down the road there is Croxden Abbey, which is also full of history and nice to walk around.
Every Saturday night, Nick as kitted out the barn into a disco area, were you can sing and dance your little socks off, and you can take in your own drink. Plus if you get a rainy day, Nick and Sue will open it up and there is a massive screen in like the pictures, and they will put on a movie of your choice, while you get comfy on the sofas and chill out.
Wood Farm is also 10-15 minutes drive from Alton Towers, and there is a lovely country pub 5 mins down the road. Nick even asked if we were going Alton Towers as he would drive us there and pick us up to save on parking, and if we wanted to go down to the country he would pick us up so we could leave the car at the farm and have a drink.
All in the word that my son and myself used to describe Wood Farm most over the weekend was AMAZING!
And the owner Nick and Sue, you can tell they really enjoy having campers stay at there farm, and they will go the extra mile for there guests to ensure they have a fantastic time.
And not forgetting Poppy and Dodge, the farm dogs absolutely lovely dogs that just want you to play with them and will walk all around the farm with you, but do not get in your way.
We would certainly recommend Wood Farm to everyone, we arrived on the 8th -10th July 16. Just Me and my son, And had a better time here paying £5 each per night, than we have going to other well know holiday parks and pay £200. We will definitely be returning very soon, my son is already packing for this weekend.
A massive thank you to Nick and Sue, you really made our first camping trip a very enjoyable and memorable one, with your fantastic customer service and gorgeous farm.

We have just returned from four lovely days at this great Campsite, with its wonderful views and great owners Nick and Sue who do everything they can to make your stay special its a great place to be, very peaceful, excellent showers and toilets that are always spotlessly clean and warm, wonderful woodland walks, very friendly farm dogs who love to play. Its very close to the lovely old ruins of Croxden Abbey and the Raddle Inn where you can get an excellent meal and for those who want to visit Alton Towers again only a short journey away. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay there sitting in our Campervan first thing in the morning watching the many birds and squirrel, s hunting for their breakfast wonderful, one of the nicest Campsites we, ve been to. We hope to return. We did, nt have any children with us but feel that they would be made very welcome.

Despite the rain, we had a good weekend at Wood Farm. Nick and Sue were very helpful and welcoming. They clearly take pride in their property.
Although we were pitched a few minutes walk from the toilet it wasn't too inconvenient. The toilet was kept clean and well stocked. There was only one shower in the female bathroom, which was a great electric shower. The site was quite quiet so I didn't have to wait at any time. Though when busy this might become an issue.
The pitches were massive, level and well maintained. Each had a picnic bench and hard standing for a fire. This I thought was a lovely touch.
This site is great for families as it gives children plenty of room to run and play.
We will definitely revisit this site.

Stayed here for just two nights midweek over the Easter holidays. It was very very quite due to the awful weather the weekend before and the ground was very wet. We camped on what would normally be used for caravans as we were one of two tents there. And we used EHU. Nick and Sue are two of the most helpful friendly people I have met, The showed us around their lovely farm and our children soon made friends with Poppy and Dodge, the dogs. The facilities were in excellent condition. The woodland walk was lovely but a little long for our children's small legs. My only concern would be if there was a lot of campers then I would imagine the wait for the toilet or shower could be long if you timed it wrong as we were only shown one toilet block which had one toilet and shower for male and female. There was one other toilet by the reception. Everything was very clean and tidy.
Only a couple of minutes down the road into Alton where there are a few pubs and a little corner shop.
Recommended if you want to get away from it all. Great site if looking for somewhere to stay while visiting Alton Towers.

We have been visiting this campsite for two years now and every time we can not fault.
Went this time for a 50th birthday bash with friend and family of about 45 of us, adults and children. Arrived Thursday night for four nights and we were able to have a full field to ourselves which was great. On the Saturday night we had a hog roast (all previously arranged with Nick & Sue the owners) in the barnhouse and karoki for the evening.
What a weekend, nobody will forget the weather was lovely so we had took paddling pool for the children so what more could we have asked for. Nick and Sue just make your whole stay so special as they are such a lovely accommodating couple, if they can help in any way then they give 100%.
The surrounding area is lovely and the campsite has nice places to wonder, we have dogs so they love the full open space, obviously they need to be supervised.
Can not fault this site just love everything about it. Well done Nick & Sue, sorry and Mark as well who does the karioki to perfection. Thank You for making Yvonne's birthday a special one

I love this campsite! It was our second visit which is unusual for us so we must have liked it!. We went as 2 moms each with our 2 children camping in 2 tents. It's set in stunning Staffordshire countryside and the views from the farm are breath taking. The farmer and his wife are so friendly and welcoming and have lots of time for you. They clearly really love running this campsite and it shows.
The campsite is pretty simple as its only small. The pitches are very well maintained (grass always mowed) and spacious on flat ground. They allow you have a campfire so this feels like REAL camping. For not too much, you can hire portable fire basket supplied with logs and firelighters. If you need more logs, they'll be delivered to your tent!
Toilets and shower block are really nice & regularly cleaned. Properly tiled floors and walls and more importantly comfortably HEATED! Showers were powerful and hot and had places to put your toiletries and clothes. I never had to wait for the shower. The pot washing area was spacious and under cover, Washing up liquid and sponges supplied was a nice extra touch. You could freeze your ice blocks in the freezer at no extra cost.
In the evenings, the farmer sometimes opens up his barn to campers to watch movies on his giant cinema screen (mainly for kids) or do karaoke. There are sofas galore to chill out on and heaters to keep warm. My kids thought this was sooo cool!.
There are 2 gorgeous, friendly resident border collies (Poppy and Dodge if I recall correctly) who love a good fuss and a ball throw, again a hit with my kids!. There was a great little self contained wooded walk within the campsite which was safe enough for the kids to do alone and enjoy a bit of independence. Only took them 5-10mins.
Campsite is also dog friendly with plenty of space for you take them for exercise.
All in all a great find to enjoy a bit of proper camping - it's relaxing just to stay on the site. We will definitely return.
