We have just spent 3 nights at this marvellous campsite and felt compelled to leave a really good review.
The campsite is an old dairy farm and is set amongst some of the most beautiful countryside that England has to offer. We were greeted by the owners (quite possibly the friendliest people we've ever met!) and were given a tour and a brief history of the site. The owners still have two Farm dogs (Poppy and Dodge) who are the most beautiful, inquisitive and cheeky dogs ever. Throw them a ball and they'll be your friend for life.
There are two fields; one for tents and another for caravans. Both fields are well maintained and spacious. One of the advantages of this site is that you can pitch wherever you like. There are also slabs in the ground that you can use for fire pits and bbq's.
The toilet and shower facilities are brilliant, they are clean, tidy and make you feel as though you are back home with plenty of hot water. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is currently only one toilet and one shower, but the site was not busy so this was not an issue. There is, however, a new shower and toilet being built as we speak.
The site was clean, tidy and only a short drive from Alton Towers (the reason for our trip there) and very relaxing. We will be staying there again but next time we will stay for longer just to make the most of the woodland walks that encompass the site.

We have just returned from a wonderful bank holiday weekend, six adults and a dog.
What a lovely couple that own the farm, we played manhunt in the spooky woods and the owner even joined in, what a laugh.
All so chilled out.
Dog could run about with out anybody moaning and there were all different age people and everybody was so friendly.
Nick told us history of the surrounding areas and showed us different things he had found over the years.
No rush to vacate when we were leaving which again was really good as we relaxed and packed up when we were ready.
Thanks for a great time and see you end of May

Myself and my partner stayed at the fabulous Wood Farm for four nights last week and we can't praise the owners enough.
Their welcome was extremely friendly and they kept us very entertained with the ghosts and history connected to the farm and this certainly made our stay much more fun and exciting than other camp sites.
The views, the woodland walk and surrounding areas are breathtaking.
The toilets and shower are immaculately clean and although there is only one shower, we never had to wait.
Only a short distance of just over 2 miles to Alton Towers, our stay was perfect and we will definitely be returning to Wood Farm.
Next time I will hopefully see one of the legendary ghosts, but not when I'm on my own!

We have just returned from a 2 night break here and can say it is by far the best we have visited so far.
OWNERS:
They are absolutely terrific and go out of there way to make sure your stay is comfortable and enjoyed.
They are very laid back, pleasant people who welcomed us and the children in a way that has made this site one we will definitely be returning to :
From lending us a hook up lead, an umbrella for our table that our little girl asked for before we could stop her! and some logs for our fire on the second night.
AREA:
Lots of things to do with Croxden Abbey a 3min drive away or 15min Walk, Alton Towers 10mins away, Dovedale for walks and sights about 20mins drive, Towns: Cheadle, Leek, Uttoxeter and Ashbourne all only about 15-20 mins drive and Close to Stoke and Derby.
Just a few destinations of interest.
THE SITE:
Beautiful, Wonderous panoramic views, woodland Walks on site are fantastic, clean, clean and modern toilet and shower a very short walk away, all usual disposal facilities, far enough from the road to feel safe for children and quiet and very relaxing.
FARM COLLIES:
Well what can we say, thanks to Poppy and Dodge who made our stay even better and I think my arms have had a great work out with throwing balls and toys.
They enjoyed our children so much and even came on the walks with us showing us the way.
Beautiful, friendly, clever and obedient dogs which at the end of the day we just said 'go to bed now' and they go straight back to the farmhouse!
THE BARN:
The owner gave us a tour of this which is magnificent with sound and screen out of this world.
We will definite be visiting When Santa comes for the grotto!
Owner also told about the history and Archaeology of the site which Chris and I thoroughly enjoyed and WOW
Thank-you (and Poppy and Dodge)
And also to the 2 little friends (grandchildren) that our kids Made.

We stayed 3 nights (2 families of four plus dog, children's ages 4-7), and it was perfect.
It wasn't busy whilst we were there, lots of open space for the children to run and play, woodland walks plus good pub very close serving great food.
The farm owners couldn't have been nicer, from showing us around, visiting our camp to check if anything we needed, providing us with logs free of charge for our fire and even doing some laundry for us in an emergency, nothing was too much trouble for them. It's also close to Alton towers and plenty of other places of interest.
There were 2 toilets and a shower plus pot washing facility, these areas were the cleanest I have ever used and free. More facilities will be built for the next year season I believe and probably useful when the campsite is busy.
There is a large barn which the owner has converted for functions and in wet weather nick will put on films for the children to be entertained or set up the karaoke system on a Saturday night for guests.
I have only praise and positive comments about this site, I would highly recommend it and I will be definitely visiting again.

We stayed here to visit Alton Towers less than 5 minutes away and would highly recommend this campsite to all.
The owners are very welcoming and friendly and couldn't do enough for you, but not too in your face, just very relaxed and a pleasure to see. When do you have an owner of a campsite phone you the day before your arrival to double check that you are aware of how to get there and the best route to approach the site. Can not fault them one bit.
The campsite itself is on a farm with the main entrance drive cutting across the cow field which the children adored. The pitches are spacious and are not regimented in anyway. You have the choice of electric hook up. Spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Plenty of open space for the children to run around, woodland walks etc etc. Ideal for anyone.
Despite there being only one shower at present, there was never a queue. The owners did mention that for next season there will be a new shower block with more available. They even provide shampoo and conditioner and shower gel within - bless. Their hearts are really in the right place.
As everyone mentions the owners dogs (poppy & Dodge)- totally amazing, the children loved playing with them, especially their obedience of ball games and following the girls about. But if you said to them bye bye or go to bed, they would just trot back to the farmhouse.
The barn - their entertainment venue for outside hire was fantastic. The owner provided us with a tour and history talk which was very fascinating. A large group was present one evening and he invited everyone down for karaoke. Our eldest joined in but as we had to tired toddlers we had to decline and the noise levels was not too high. The santa grotto was lovely and must be a magical experience leading up to the festivities. Such a shame we don't live closer.
A Asda and Morrison is only a 10 minute drive but for the basic there is a mini mart (can't remember the name)2 minutes away.
Would definitely recommend this campsite to anyone of all ages.

I have just spent a lovely weekend here as part of a largish group. The area to pitch your tents is nice and flat with fantastic views.
There are 2 toilets and 1 shower, with portaloos in the field you stay in. All were kept clean, The shower was clean as well as the toilets. The owners also add that extra touch by providing soap and towel in the toilets, I also noticed there was shower gel and shampoo/conditioner in the showers.
Although there was no set play area for the children, they didn't get bored as there was so much room around for the to play, and far enough from the main roads to be safe.
On the Saturday night we were allowed access to the barn for a sing a long on the karaoke and very comfortable seating.
They have 2 lovely dogs, Dodge and Poppy who love playing ball, even at 0500hrs :-)
The surrounding area is beautiful, lovely country walks and pubs nearby.
I will be looking at going back for weekends with just my family in the near future.
The owners were extremely helpful and lovely, helping to make our weekend great.

Stayed at this campsite as a family member said how she had enjoyed it, and how the owners were so nice and friendly. So book 2 nights at the start of June and it was brilliant. I got to know the owners and found them so helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The views were out of this world, even though there was a few people there it was so quiet and piece full no noise at night. The showers and toilets were very clean and smelt lovely. They have two dogs poppy and dodge that often pop around with a ball to throw for them. We returned the weekend after because we had so much fun this place has so much history, nick has converted the barn in to a brilliant function room where he let us take our own beer and have a sing song. This campsite is a must so close to alton towers. We will be staying here again very soon.

Had a great time at wood farm our little girl daisy loved it. The owners cannot do enough for you they are lovely. The showers and toilets are immaculate and they are in the process of making new ones. The barn is out of this world you wouldn't expect it at all great, just watch out for nic because he will have you up on karaoke haha. Recommend this site to anyone, and it's is literally 5 mins from Alton towers. Thanks for fab time dan

This is a fantastic small campsite. We were 6 adults and 6 kids and all adored it. The owners are friendly and can't do enough to welcome you. The setting is gorgeous, and the site is small enough and well away from a road to allow children to roam around. The facilities are great - there is one shower and 2 loos, but both spotless and very homely. Numbers are kept low to prevent queues for shower, and they are building a shower block currently. If it is raining, they are happy for you to use their comfortable Events barn. Local pubs short driving distance and Alton Towers is close by. Price is a very reasonable £5 per head for all. Dogs are welcome.
