Outstanding hospitality from this small but well maintained family run site. As a large group with children we were welcomed and given a comprehensive tour of the facilities. The pitches were mown and generally flat. Toilets and showers spotless and the 'party barn' a welcome bonus on a rainy weekend. The owners were friendly and accommodating which made for a relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back next year and would highly recommend this site, great value for money!

Just spent 2 lovely relaxing days here. Great welcome from owners Nick and Sue, very friendly, walked us around to make sure we knew where everything was, showed us to our pitch (£15 per night for a campervan and 2 adults, no ehu. ). Facilities were spotless, site clean and tidy. Cant score for children on ratings as we didn't have any with us, but lots of kids on site enjoying the woods and fields and safety, no-one drove faster than crawling speed. All other reveiws cover everything here, fantastic site. Would we go again? Yes, definitely.

Awesome site! Lovely owners. Big pitches with stunning views of the open countryside, plenty of safe space for kids to play. Fire pits available but probably best to reserve when booking, bags of logs £5 each. They also have large picnic tables that seat 8, dotted around the fields. 3 camping fields, we stayed in the middle field. A few big groups around us that didn't respect the 22:30 cut off for loud music & the large group next to us had music blaring from the car during Saturday day, which was a shame as it ruined the peace for everyone. But that is down to individuals not the owners.
Sue & Nick couldn't do enough for you, 2 of their dogs (Poppy & Dodge) are outdoor dogs & have an amazing life, sneaking scraps of food from the campers & playing fetch with all of the kids.
Nick puts a film on in the big barn on the 16ft cinema screen on an evening, plenty of sofas for folks to get comfy on. On Saturday the site emptied as nearly everyone wandered over to the big barn for karaoke, not our cup of tea but our 'neighbours' said it was an enjoyable night.
Shower & toilet facilities were very clean, 1 toilet & shower for men & the same for women, also 1 unisex toilet & shower. They also have a hairdryer free to use. Not sure about the ability to freeze freezer packs as we didn't need to on this occasion.
Ordinarily we don't return to a campsite but this was so lovely we'd definitely go back!

Cant recommend this site enough! ! Loved it so much we are returning again in two weeks time. Super friendly owners that can't do enough for you and the site is kept immaculate. Karaoke in the barn on a Saturday night, woodland walks and plenty of open space means there's something for everyone. On site facilities eg toilets and showers all really clean and modern. Really can't fault this site. Short walk to country pubs and close to Alton towers, Croxden abbey and other local towns. Amazing scenery and a stunning place to stay as nice and quiet. Found the drive to wood farm quite tricky and was glad I wasn't towing a caravan like our friends because most of the roads in the area are single track lanes with high hedges also couldn't rely on sat nav as even that got us lost. Still hasn't put us off returning nothing could to be honest! ! X

We have just returned from a two night stay at this site. We visited with friends, us in a caravan and them in a tent. All the other reviews are absolutely spot on. From the moment we arrived the owners were courteous, helpful, informative and friendly. They remembered our names every time they saw us and it was like visiting old friends.
We were in the electric hook-up field which had a stunning view. It was so quiet, despite a field full of scouts and their families on another part of the site. We couldn't hear them at all. The field was sheltered from wind, with a lovely patio area. Contrary to my review on the last site we stayed at, the electric hook-up was safe and sturdy with fire extinguishers underneath. There was also a tap in the field so getting water was simple.
The showers were immaculate. At no point was there any dirt on the floors or the toilets, clean towels were provided for the hand basin. I'm still amazed at how clean everything was, how hot the water was and that it was included in the price.
The owner dropped us off some wood to use in one of the many fire pits scattered around. So we had a clear view and a lovely warm fire in the evening. There is a huge barn converted to be a bit like a clubhouse, with karaoke, chandeliers, multitudes of tables and chairs and sofas, a dance floor and tepee.
Hot air balloons and gliders, a clear blue sky, well maintained field and owners who couldn't do enough for us.
Really, what more could you ask for! We loved it so much, we left the caravan there and are going back in a fortnight for a long weekend. They have it just right here.

We have just returned from this campsite. A total of 8 families went, we were welcomed by the owner Nick, who showed us round the campsite, and showed us the barn which he opens on a Saturday night. We were given a field just for the 8 families. The new shower block was excellent and very clean. The owners were friendly who told us the history of the farm, which the children loved! Camp fires in pits are allowed, Nick sells fire wood if you run out. The field was very pretty and the owners have added wooden benches and patio furniture. I would recommend this site. I have only been onto this campsite (just bought our tent and camping equipment)

I can only confirm the previous reviews. Fantastic site and brilliant owners.
Our two teenage girls were entertained by the dogs and we all enjoyed the woodland walk.
The toilets were spotless and warm, the views fantastic even on overcast days and the history of the area was very interesting.
Could even open a car museum with everything from Cortinas to Peugeot 309 fastback. Wow.
Would recommend to anyone visiting the area, especially Alton Towers which is a five minute drive away. Road too busy to walk.

A most fantastic, peaceful and relaxing weekend we have just got back from Wood farm what a brilliant site. The owners are so friendly and helpful nothing seems to be to much trouble for them and and every where is spotless and as for the dogs poppy and dodge well they kept the kids entertained for hours. This is one of the best sites we have been to and cannot wait to return. The toilet and shower are immaculate and yes there will soon be more, excellent size pitch with hookup and fresh water tap not far away there was waste disposal point just down from the pitches which we were shown its location as soon as we arrived along with everything else.

The praise this campsite has had heaped on it through the previous reviews is more than justified.
9 of us in 5 tents have just come back from a weekend at Wood Farm which threw some pretty grim weather our way but we all still had a superb time which was in no small part down to the owners. What great hosts and an all-round top couple.
Even though our group all arrived within half an hour or so of each other, the owner still took the time to give each one of us a separate tour around not just the toilets and the usual stuff but the barn as well. He obviously enjoys what he does as it comes through in his enthusiasm for the place.
He let us pitch up on the caravan field as there were none due there that weekend. This is a lovely area which has stunning views, is sheltered from the worst of the wind by the surrounding trees and has a table and chairs set up on a small hard standing which was perfect for the girls to sit at swigging wine and generally keeping out the way whilst the boys did the real work pitching the tents!
All the time we were kept company by the famous Poppy and Dodge. They're superstars. Lots of time got spent launching the tennis ball THEY brought over for us.
Facilities are great here. Constantly spotless. Still only had the one shower for our visit but the second block which has two more was due to be completed just the following week. Got a quick tour of it though and it looks really good.
The barn! How good is this? As previously said, the owner showed us around it when we first arrived and we were pretty impressed. Even more so when we got in there on Saturday night for the karaoke he lays on. Massive hd projector screen, great sound system (apart from when we were on it murdering a load of perfectly good songs) and lots of comfy seating. Was pretty empty when we were there but we still had a great laugh. I can imagine some epic nights going on when it's a bit busier.
We tried a local pub called The Raddle which is up a fairly steep road but well worth the effort to get to. Real ales, beautiful food, good atmosphere, pool, darts and skittles all thrown in for good measure!
There's a small Asda in Cheadle if you need any supplies. Didn't spot the mini mart some else on here mentioned but since we were driving to whichever store we used it didn't make any difference.
A tip I'd give anyone visiting is to take a good few black binbags. They do a lot of recycling here as well as incinerating burnable waste and separating everything out for the appropriate bins wiped us out of the few we brought pretty quickly. The owner did say though if we ran out to give him a shout and he'd happily supply us with some.
It's fair to say we all loved this place. We have a bit of a rule for our annual group camping trip that we try somewhere new every year but this is going to be the place which we break it for. And all for just a fiver each per night.
Nearly forgot. If you're remotely interested, ask about the archaeology that's been dug up here over the years. They've got some really good finds sat on show if you can get to see them.
Keep up the good work. How you're doing it is how they ALL should do it. We'll definitely be returning.
