We stayed here recently for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lovely views from camping field and really peaceful location. Being on the edge of the village was ideal as very short walk to 2 pubs and well-stocked convenience store/post office with good opening hours. Dolton itself is small and pretty with thatched cottages surrounded by farmland and quiet lanes. The campsite owners couldn't have been more helpful, for example we asked if there was a cinema in any of the local towns and Alan came back a few minutes later with locations, film titles and showing times. Utility area, showers and loos were really clean, with reliable hot water, no timers, and new shower units (better than we have at home! ). The site is a nice size and we had loads of room between tents. Dog friendly and adult friendly; a nice little site which I recommend.

Upon arrival we found Alan extremely helpful giving us a choice of pitches and explained the do' and don'ts very clearly. The site is very clean and tidy and very very peaceful. We found it so peaceful we stayed another night. On the final morning we had trouble with the car and after speaking with Alan he was a great help getting us started and on our way. The toilet and showers have got to be the cleanest we have used on any site. The location in the village is excellent the two pubs and shop are within easy walking distance and we found the villagers very friendly.

We recently had 3 nights here and loved the site. Immaculately clean and well cared for and a very helpful owner. Pitches were a good size and there is a short dog walking area for the early and late duties. Great location, within easy reach of some of North Devon's great attractions - Marwood Hill gardens is a must see. The Royal Oak pub, next to the campsite was wonderful, fabulous food, dog friendly and very friendly locals.
The only downside for us was getting use to the church bells - but we did get used to them and it wouldn't put us off going back next year.

Simply the Best!
I have never been one to post comments on websites coming from the hospitality industry you have a tendency to not always like what people say, but as soon as we arrived at the Acorn Farm Touring Park, I wanted to tell everybody just how nice this place is. My husband and I picked the site from a website. We got the contact information for the site and called to make a booking well this was 2 weeks prior to us wanting to stay, at which point we had not even got a caravan, I explained this to Alan on the phone and he said it was not a problem, he did not want a deposit and said if we had to cancel it would not be a problem just give him a call and let him know, he was so nice.
We got a caravan it was all packed and ready to go on the Saturday morning it took us 7 hours to get there traffic on the M5 was a pain, but it did not matter we were on holiday. I called Alan to let him know we were on our way but running late and he said not a problem. Alan then called me back to give me directions as we had the caravan and if you follow satnav it can take you down some roads that are not good with a caravan.
We arrived at last they say first impressions count well it’s true the village of Dalton is beautiful and the Park was quiet and peaceful just what we needed. Alan came straight out to us with a lovely welcome, he was chatty, helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
I as a child spent a lot of time camping with my family but I don’t ever remember the facilities on any of the places we went to being nice, the facilities on the Acorn Farm are fantastic clean, new, well-appointed and as much hot water as you could ever need, with a power shower to die for.
On our first night we went to the local pub for dinner which was at the entrance to the park, they do a filled loaf, it is out of this world I have been in the industry for best part of 30 years and have never had food like it, it was fantastic, we ate there 3 nights and had it all 3 times. The locals are all friendly and helpful the shop has pretty much everything you could need.
The best holiday I have had in a long time Thank you.

The people at the campsite were really nice. We had a dog with us and torrential rain virtually all through our stay. We were loaned extra towels to dry the dog down and also a large umbrella for ourselves. They couldn't have been kinder. The site and toilets/showers are kept clean and tidy and it was all very relaxed. There is no shop on site but there is a shop close by. The village of Dolton is really nice with a couple of friendly pubs. We went to War Horse Valley on Parsonage Farm a few miles away to see the War Horse exhibition and have a cream tea. Fabulous people, cream tea, exhibition and it was perfect timing, we watched a calf being born! Great visit. Will return soon.

A friendly well run campsite.
We stayed for 4 nights and would happily stay at this site again. We would definitely recommend to friends.
The site is well maintained and the pitches are really very large - giving plenty of space for a barbecue and to relax in.
High praise must go to the owners of the site. The site is maintained to a very high standard and they have done a lot of work to make improvements since they took ownership of it. They are extremely helpful and welcoming and this makes the stay here even more enjoyable.
The pub adjoining the campsite has a great atmosphere and serves very good food and real ales.
The only slight negative for our stay was that the showers were luke warm. I note however, that this is not a recurring issue in other reviews, so I guess it was just bad timing!
Overall this is a lovely little site and I would highly recommend.

Had a very pleasant 5 nights here and will certainly come back. What a gem of a site and the owners, Alan & Maz, couldn't do enough to make us welcome. The site is spotless and the grass kept very short. The bus stop is quite close with an hourly service to Exeter or Bideford/Barnstable. The church is well worth a look and there are some lovely walks near by. Both pubs are very good and both serve a very good pint. Food at the Rams Head is just a bit cheaper than in the |Royal Oak next to the site.
The only fault that I could find is that I think the amenity block would struggle to cope if the site were full.

An excellent little adults-only site located on the edge of a small, friendly village.
We stayed for 3 nights only but would happily have extended our stay if we'd been able. It's a site we'll happily go back to.
The site is mainly grass with some hardstanding pitches. It is is beautifully maintained and always looked attractive and welcoming.
The views over the Devon countryside are lovely and we relished the peace and quiet of the site. We did hear the church bells from time to time but they didn't cause us any problem.
The shower in the Ladies was an enclosed one in a separate cubicle which also had a toilet and washbasin. There was always plenty of hot water (included in the pitch price). My husband can't remember whether the Gents shower was enclosed but there was plenty of hot water there as well. The only drawback we could see was that the amenity block was fairly small and we thought it might struggle to cope when all the pitches were taken. The block was kept immaculately clean but the fittings could do with some modernisation.
The washing-up facilities were good and, again, always clean and with plenty of hot water.
The site owner, was very helpful and friendly. He always had time to chat, especially on his evening rounds, but he was never intrusive.
There are three pubs in the village (one currently closed). The closest is about 100 yards from the site entrance but we never heard any noise from it.
The site is well located for trips out during the day. We visited Clovelly, the Dartington Glass factory and Rosemoor Gardens. The village itself makes for a pleasant stroll. The shop cum Post Office is very well stocked and we bought some lovely steaks there for the barbecue.
The site has the facilities for long-term storage which they are hoping to attract.
All in all, a super place.

Second visit to this campsite, we were lucky with the weather, wall to wall sunshine.
This site is beautifully maintained by the lovely owners, who while being friendly and helpful in no way intruded.
The peaceful calm atmosphere was just what we needed.
The pitches are good, electric hook up if wanted, the showers were clean and plenty of free hot water.
The pitch price was excellent with one all in price, great value.
Pub near by good, and the local post office which sold almost everything was a couple of minutes walk. Beautiful church worth a look.
The views out over the Devon countryside are stunning.
Plenty of wildlife, sitting of an evening with a glass of wine watching the sunset and swifts darting around in the soft evening light was spectacular.
Met some really nice people, including owners Alan and Maz.
Had a most enjoyable week. Looking forwards to returning.

Set in tyhe heart of beautiful N. Devon this site has all the ingredients for a perfect getaway. It is a small peaceful site for adults only, the shower/toilet facilities are clean and tidy, the park itself maintained to a high standard.
The park owners are friendly and helpful and we will happily spend lots of time on this pretty site.
2 Village pubs, general store and a bus stop all within easy walking distance - what more could you want?
