Lovely little site, near enough for us to have a weekend away driving down after work on a Friday. Very peaceful, lovely owners giving attentive service without being intrusive. The site is small, with electric hookups and clean facilities. There is a pub at the entrance with an excellent lunch menu (and great cider!). In the evenings, the Rams Head is better value for money but doesn't have the same character. Convenience store nearby if you've forgotten anything.
The Tarka Trail downhill from the site is well woth a trek, stopping a for refreshments at the Royal Oak on the way back to the site.
We will definitely be back!

I really enjoyed my weekend stay at this campsite. It is set within the village of Dolton but is surrounded by beautiful countryside. What is rare for anywhere in England, is that there is virtually no background noise apart from the odd farm tractor ploughing a distant field. Even the soft chimes from the beautiful nearby church do not seems to spoil the setting.
There is a large area of neatly mown grass so I had plenty of space to pitch my tent but there are hard standings for caravans or campervans. The simple toilet block is very clean and the showers efficient. Obviously the owner Allan and his wife go to a lot of trouble to maintain the site.
The pub next door does excellent food (including catering well for vegetarians) and there are two more pubs within walking distance. The village shop and post office is only yards away and it stocks far more than you would expect for a small village store.
Do walk round the village and along some of the local footpaths. It is a really lovely area with a great campsite and everything you may need for an enjoyable stay is close by.

Great little well maintained site in a beautiful part of the country. Quiet and restful with good facilities - in particular the piping hot showers (given the 'Spring' weather! The highest praise however goes to the owners who couldn't make you feel more welcome - even lent me a kettle for early morning brews. Proper local pubs all within a minute or two's walk with good selection of food in an unspoilt village. The pitch fee (unlike some sites that charge the same for tents as motorhomes) was very reasonable. What more could you want?

Revisited this Park after a couple of years and can see major improvements and believe it has new owners. Wow so beautiful and peaceful, the views are just lovely, see for miles - a real gem of a site close to the village of Dolton. Lovely well kept site, brilliant hot showers. Pubs serving great food and beer within walking distance. Just what we needed for a quiet few days. Will definitely be back for another visit later in the year.

Visited this site early may. Had an upset with the car on the approach to the village due to car overheating. We contacted the owners of the site who readily came to our rescue, once on site they continued to assist us until we were settled. After this we spent a very happy week in the area. The site has been updated and the amenities are clean and a pleasure to use. If you seek a restful holiday in glorious surroundings you could not find better. The village has a very friendly shop, well stocked and reasonable prices and good fresh produce also some very nice pubs. The village church is steeped in history and well worth a visit. The owners were amazing and very helpful. We look forward to our next visit.

Just Visited this park for a week, and enjoyed the peaceful, beautiful setting very much.
The park has the most stunning views and the wild life was brilliant to see, from birds, squirrels to pheasants wandering up and down the park.
The park is run by the friendly Alan and Maz, who go out of their way to help in any way they can.
The park has been sympathetically up graded, with a new road hard standings, the toilets have been improved but keep their rustic look which is in keeping with the park.
A local shop has the basics and lovely local fresh bread.
Three pubs in the village, and a beautiful church next to the park adds to the setting.
If you want a clean, beautiful, restful park give Acorn Farm a try you won't be disappointed.

Acorn Farm Park is situated in the picturesque Devonshire village of Dolton, with local amenities such as a shop/post office, pubs serving meals, and a quaint little parish church, to name just a few. The site itself has undergone several improvements since I visited a few years ago. The toilet block has recently been refurbished and now has a clean, fresh look to it, and has additional showers installed, and several additional hard standing pitches are being made. Alan & Maz, the site owners are very friendly and extremely helpful. They have recently become Calor Gas Agents, a big plus for anyone camping or touring this area, as I found it difficult to obtain from the area previously. The site is also dog friendly and has a dog walking area, a big plus for me and my two boxers. I can honestly say, that my stay on the park on this occasion was very pleasant, and that I will be planning to revisit in July / August.

We visited this site following a search on the internet, for Dog friendly, open all year, electric hookup.
The site is now under new ownership and they are in the process of renovating the facilities, they are putting down hard standings for caravans and motorhomes and have invested in a new central road way.
We were made very welcome as I am sure all their new customers will be.
The site was situated in a very quite village, with a well stocked village shop close by. There is a public house beside the entrance to the site so no need to drive to obtain food or a drink. There are some very quite country lanes with several circular walks a joy in the early morning. Stunning views over the hills of Exmoor and Dartmoor, and an abundance of historic towns and villages within easy reach.
We will be going again. Very highly recommended.

On arriving at the site there was no answer at the house (which is the reception), a note on the door says to go and look for them. Not that easy when you don't know who your looking for!
We were approached by a man who seemed to know who we were and directed us to pitch where ever we liked in the tent area. The campsite was very quiet which meant we got a lovely corner but not particularly flat and quite wet, no need for a mallet.
The facilities were basic but clean.
The church is right next door and the bells ring on the hour every hour, which wasn't a bad point, it was actually quite nice!
Three very local pubs all dog friendly, good food in the one at the end of the drive, we didn't eat at the others.

Lovely little site with basic but very adequate facilities. The only small disadvantage is that there is only one shower each in the male / female toilet blocks.
The village shop is by the site entrance, stocks everything you'll need and is open to 8pm. A stroll down the hill leads to a lovely country walk with access to the Tarka Trail. We were warned about the hard trek back, but it wasn't so bad!
I would definitely visit again, the owners are lovely and friendly. The site is kept in perfect condition, dogs are welcome and we had a really peaceful, relaxing time.
