We booked for two nights, the first pitch we had was full of weeds, so we moved, rubbish in the hedgerows, no signs on the doors for ladies or gents the ladies toilets were horrid, loose toilet seats, all black something or other in the pan, no way could I use them, the drinking water taps yuk, the area was full of weeds and cigarette butts. The place is open all year so there is no need for it too be dirty and untidy. Unable to order food after 5. 45, nothing else nearby to eat. We were woken at 12, 2. 30, 5. 30 and 7. 30, no one minds people enjoying themselves, but think of others. This place obviously does not have a time curfew, and it was expensive to stay.

Used Southsea as a stopover after returning to UK from France, we were greeted by a very pleasant lady who gave me directions to our hard standing pitch, when we turned the corner to our spot or what looked like a car park, it was like we had entered a movie scene from some kind of Alabama trailer trash park movie, there were residential American RV's all over the hard standing, it's not as if they were nice looking ones either, run down is an understatement. We pitched up, locked our doors, windows and closed the blinds. Didn't leave anything but the hook up cable outside as did not feel secure. Toilet blocks had the public toilet of the 70's look about them, and probably hadn't been cleaned since the 70's. I returned to my tourer on the morning of departure after emptying the cassette only to find I had stood in excrement from what source I don't know. Departure time states a rather early 10am, however we were ready to go at 9am. This is the closest site for the ferry terminal so any of our continental friends visiting here as there first stop would have a bad first impression of our sites. At our first service station heading home we stopped for a break and all agreed it would have been a more pleasant stay at the services.

All I can say is that it served its purpose for us on this occasion. Definitely wouldn't stay there again. Very untidy site with small (close together) pitches. Just can't imagine what it would be like if fully occupied in the height of the season! Staff not particularly helpful at all. We had to leave one day early due to a family crisis but were refused a refund. Shower block acceptably clean but showers were all cold and you had to hold the control all the time (not easy when trying to wash your hair). Hand dryers didn't work. As previous comments state, many resident caravans there with people working from them. Not a holiday resort at all. Did not even enter the clubhouse. Overall, expensive for what you get. Only plus is location relative to Portsmouth & surrounds.

We stayed 3 nights in early November. The initial price was £27.50 per night which we thought and bit high but they do a 3 night special which brought it down to £20 per night.

Location of the site is good, right on the beach. Pub on site if you like TV ( 4 screens 2 different channels). Marine bar just along the road, no TV and a very good Indian restaurant.

It is a good walk into Southsea, we enjoyed it. Also walked into Portsmouth.

The site itself needs a tidy up. The long term campers need to keep their belongings tidy, dogs need to be kept on leads, ( we had one dog actually come into our van), the showers were cold, the hand dryers didn't work.

I don't think we will be going back

Why are people running this site down? Ok some money needs to be spent on it, but the location is great. Staff are ok and I would book again are people giving it bad reviews so people read the reviews and don't book? Because they want to make sure it will not be full, I read the reviews and looked around to find something else but could not. Find a better location. We bought cotton wool to go in our ears to make sure we got a good night's sleep! But guess what it was quiet

And we got a good night's sleep without the cotton. Wool. So give this site fair reviews

We had to attend our Son's Graduation in Portsmouth and booked this site for 2 nights due to its close proximity to the city, having read a lot of previous reviews we were not exactly expecting much.

In fact the park turned out to be ok, granted, it does certainly need some money throwing at it as most of the facilities could only be described as 'Shabby' but they are functional in any case.

The Reception on arrival was very welcoming, our pitch was quite a large hardstanding (Pebbles??!)and as we had come mid week the park was not very busy in any case and we manoeuvred the van with ease and were set up drinking our first cup of tea within 15 minutes. We then got chatting to a few Seasonals who were helpful and pointed us the right direction for anything we needed which we found really nice.

The toilets/showers were clean and we never had to wait once (Mid Week Quietness again I suppose) although as mentioned very dated.

We visited the clubhouse 'Nelsons' a few times, and we found every thing was just ok, we didn't eat so can't comment on the food but the service was nice and friendly and the beer we had was nice enough, no problems at all.

We paid £63.00 for 2 nights which is pretty steep in anyones book. BUT. The location is the reason, the beach, although pebbles is glorious, we were blessed with some fantastic weather for our 2 days and being right on a beach was just perfect.

Would we go a again? Most certainly, it may not be the best site in the world but the location is stunning and its really handy for all that Portsmouth has to offer.

P. S. Left our car on site most of the time and used a company called Aquacab to get to/from Graduation Ceremony/Restaurants etc. Really good, we never waited more than 10 minutes for a cab and very reasonable rates.

Just thought I would add a review for this park as having read the reviews on here we nearly never went. There is nothing wrong with this park!

Firstly all the reviews about the locals always drunk and making a lot of noise day and night are just not true. We even spoke to a few people that live on site and they were very friendly and invaluable source of information when asking about good fishing spots.

Secondly the toilet blocks. Nearly every review I read about this place has said how bad they are. I don't really know what these people are really expecting to be honest. Every time I went the blocks they were clean and tidy, not busy, and the showers even though are push button that doesn't last very long if you twist it you can have a shower as hot or cold as you like and I haven't had that on any other site before so was impressed.

There is a council estate very close but we did not hear a single sound from that direction all weekend just every now and then people on there balcony enjoying the sun and a sea view. This however will not be seen from camp unless you go over the small hill protecting the tents from the sea winds somewhat.

The bar was friendly with a good outside area next to the kids park so its not a problem if you want to have a meal or a few beers while the kids play and again we spoke about why does this place get such bad reviews?

If your taking dogs like we did there are miles of beach just outside the camp and a big park just around the corner just past the spar shop. This shop is also the closest shop as the site does not have one but it is a 2 minute walk so still we didn't see this as a problem.

All in all we had a nice time at this site and would without a doubt go back! Don't let the negative reviews put you off it has all you need to have a good break away.

What a disappointment this site is. Great location, but I can only agree with most of the other reviews POOR. Obviously there is a history of poor quality as evidenced in the reviews dating back to 2010. Nothing seems to have improved over the years, the same old problems. We booked in or 5 nights but left after 2 nights !

The toilet block. One was fully closed with nails through the front doors! And the remaining block had not seen a cleaner for some time; the toilets were blocked ;there was paper scattered over the floor ;tiles missing through out this old building and dry rot on all the shower cubicles ! Not to mention the paint peeling off the tiles on the wash basin surrounds. Yes the old tiles were painted over and over time it's all not surprisingly scratched off.

As for the outside areas and pitches, well only a few are numbered. Good luck finding your designated pitch ! And weeds certainly are the rule of the day. The gravel pitches. These are the more expensive pitches but they too are more weeds than anything else.

The entire toilet / shower block area is filthy and needs weeding as a minimum. The reception gave us a swipe card which they indicated would be needed for the amenities block. NO. On the only block that was available the doors had no locks, just swung freely in the breeze, or the wind, as was the case on our stay.

This place obviously needs total redevelopment, as it is one of the few parks that is close to the city shops etc, and no doubt continues to survive on its location and the large number of statics and permanents. NO I would not stay again, NOR would I recommend this site.

As with previous reviewers we only picked this site for its close proximity to Portsmouth as we were visiting the new Mary Rose Exhibition.

On arrival we were dealt with very quickly by the receptionist staff. I had requested a hard standing plot which was a BIG mistake. We were directed to what could only be described as a dumping ground for unused holiday homes and long stay foreign workers who made lots of noise when revving up their work vans early in the morning.

There were no plot markings and it appeared to be a gravel carpark.

The toilet block was very shabby. Although cleaned most days there was no hot water in the sinks, the hand driers didn't work and the showers very grubby.

On the plus side it was right on a nice clean beach and close to the attractions of Portsmouth and Southsea but it certainly didn't justify the cost of £31. 50 per night

First impression of the campsite - GRIM. We chose the site via the website because it was the closest we could find to Portsmouth.

£28 per night for our motorhome and two adults.

A lot of static touring caravans, worn out grass pitches and hedges that needed pruning. We accept that it is early spring but little maintenance of pitches was apparent. The nearest ablutions block to us was closed (boiler problem we were told) and the other was quite a way from our pitch therefore we used our own facilities. On checking the facilities at around 0950 hours one morning they had just been cleaned to a good standard however there were only two mens toilets for the whole site.

There is a restaurant and bar on site, the latter selling only gaseous tasteless beer and food was not served after 1900 hours. Two Sky TV screens blaring out. An alternative to this is the Marina, an 11 minute walk away serving good beer and good food (the latter up until 2100 hours).

Would we stay here again - no? Was it worth the money - definitely not?!
