We stayed for a weekend and had no problems with noisy campers, as in other reviews it is often a matter of luck who is staying at the time. We did not use the showers as they were too far away and we have our own on board. Arrived after closing time and the security man checked us in, good pitch, great location. The only time we had any dealings with any other staff was when we checked out, very helpful and polite. Again we did not use the bar or restaurant so can't comment on them. But we were happy and would go back

After reading so many negative reviews, we thought we would add a positive one.
On arrival we were sited in the hard standing area with the large motor homes, that is home to many long stay residents, all of whom were friendly and most helpful.
The toilet blocks were always spotless, as always it is the people that use the blocks are the ones that leave the mess. Our only niggle was that the showers really were to hot to stand under, but better to be hot than cold.
The position of the site was perfect for the beach, we spent a lot of our time on the beach. Our 3 daughters had a lovely time in the sea. We didn't use the pub or the swimming pool so we can't comment on these.
The local Indian take away delivered to the site, as recommended by a resident.
If you want a peaceful holiday by the sea, then we recommend this site.
A trip to Portsmouth quay wharf is worth a visit, as is the harbour. The D-day museum is well worth a visit.
A great area and a lovely relaxed campsite, we will definitely return.

Okay, so they offer the only campsite in Portsmouth, and they are in a fantastic location. However, I wouldn't recommend this place for a holiday as it is right now, but it's ok if you're just stopping for the night and don't intend to spend your waking hours there.
I'm going to be objective here, and just list the pros and cons.
PROS
Great location
Toilets/showers of an ok standard, clean
CONS
Group of drunk residents playing loud music and cutting up firewood with powertools, site manager advised us they weren't a great group to be near when pitching - but the campsite was so small you could hear them everywhere! also he just let them get on with it.
Horribly overpriced for the facilities available.
Late at night teenagers living nearby making LOTS of noise. Did NOT get a good nights sleep.
Small site, packed in summer.
I hope the owners come on here, read the reviews and buck their ideas up; they have a great spot, and it could be a great place to go and stay if they tidied up the site, lowered the prices and demanded some decorum within the park.

There is a security guy that walks around a couple of times a night but he was no were to be found after 11pm most evenings.
At £196 for 8 days I think they are robbing people blind for what they have on site.
ELECTRIC HOOKUPS - The electric hookups were great, I didn’t have a problem with them and all the electric you can use is included in your fees.
GAS REFILLS AVAILABLE - I cant say much about this one as I didn’t have to use it.
DISABLED FACILITIES - The disabled facilities on this site were below average. Yes they have what they call a disabled toilet and shower area which has a ramp for people in a wheelchair etc to use but there are a lot of other things in there which are a real no, no. They have a plastic outdoor garden chair instead of the chair meant to be used for showers for people needing to sit down during their shower forget it as your likely to get hurt. There is one grab rail by the toilet but its to far away to be of any use when getting off the toilet as you end up over reaching. There’s also no pull cord system to alert someone either in reception or in the security office if you fall and need help getting up or other assistant if you hurt yourself. So with having plastic chairs and lack of proper safety equipment in the disabled toilet and shower I’d have said yours safe struggling to use the normal toilet and shower if you can at lease that way if you fall and hurt yourself you can get help reasonably quickly, your likely to be found dead 3 days later when the cleaner decided to see if the toilets need cleaning. If your in a wheelchair then you can forget going to the club, restaurant and café as there inn’t a ramp or at least I wasn’t told of one when in my wheelchair which I have to use when going long distances. There is however a small disabled toilet near the club etc area but when you get the bog standard wheelchair in it you cant get off the chair to go to the toilet or even lock the door as there isn’t any room to do either in it.
DOGS PERMITTED - Dogs are welcome on this site proving they are kept on a lead and exercised off the site.
SHOWERS AND TOILET BLOCK - Fairly poor as they didn’t seem to be cleaned regular like the sign in there said they were.
WASHING UP PLACE - I was pleased to find that most of these sinks looked cleanish but there was no plugs to stop the water from draining so you need to either bring a clean sock to block the hole or you need to bring your own plug, but at least the hot water system didn’t turn off at 9pm like it has done previous years.
LAUNDRY - I think its fair to say it doesn’t feel right when the laundry room itself is cleaner than the toilets and shower blocks but that’s the way I found it on my visit. The washer and dries seem to be able to cope with a descent load which is good however as they have instruction up on the wall telling you how to use the washing machines which don’t work as when you follow them they leave washing powder on all your clothes its good, when you tell the staff at reception the tell you the correct way to use the machine but you have to pay for the machine to then be put back on it would seem they are only after your money once again.
CHEMICAL DISPOSAL - I didn’t have to use this, so I have no idea how good or bad it was.
KIDS PLAYGROUND - As I'm in my early 20’s I don’t need to use the kids playground although it did seem nicely constructed and the kids that were playing on it seemed to be enjoying themselves.
SHOP ON SITE - They have an on site shop in the reception area although its poorly stocked and I’d recommend everyone walks to the spar shop about 2 minutes walk away.
BAR ON SITE/RESTAURANT/CAFÉ ONSITE - The on site bar didn’t seem to bad and the prices were reasonable although the restaurant and café are all in the same room and leave a lot to be desired. I had the meat lasagna which could have done with bit more meat and sauce and less cheese, they had piled tonnes of cheese on top of it which made it sickly as a result it ended up being left. The lady behind the bar decided at one point to do some cleaning and she used the same cloth for cleaning the tables and the windows in the door as a result the windows looked worse when she had finished with the grease marks on them. If people are wanting a cheapish meal to eat in there’s a nice fish a chip shop which has a café bit so you can sit in that’s next to the spar shop only about 2 minutes walk away.
BEACH ON SITE - There is a beach which you can access both on and off the site but as you go off site when your on the beach as they don’t own it I wouldn’t have said there was a beach on site but hey ho.
SEA VIEWS - You only get sea views if your either 30ft tall or walk up some steps and then down a slope on the other side of the fence in which case your going to get sea views as your on the beach at that point.

We booked the site because of its proximity to the ferry. On arrival we were surprised at how run down the site was, we had to ask someone to move off our pitch before we could get on it and the toilet blocks were unbelievable, no locks on the outside doors, even though you were issued with a swipe card, and dirty.
The bins were overflowing. There was a path about 12 foot higher than the pitches and we were warned by a permanent resident about the people who walked along it.
The permanent resident also told us that not only did the brochure tell lies, this we agree with, but the staff did too - not a very good recommendation. We left after about four hours and were told by reception that they do not give refunds!

Disappointed with our camping trip at this site. Only good point is that the site is close to the beach. Did not feel that there was adequate security. Noisy at night time and the staff were not very compassionate or helpful.
Handy local shop close by though. Wouldn't recommend for women with children alone. Facilities not that clean. This site has a lot of couples and small groups of tourists that stay one or two nights and then move on.
Pitching for tents is quite cramped really hard to knock tent pegs in (take strong tent pegs and a really heavy hammer!. While we were there condoms were thrown close to our tent. I was really not impressed with this site they exploit the fact that they have a good location;
This site has the potential of being upgraded of facilities. The restaurant and bar was quite expensive. Not much for kids on site and the location of beach is a bit of a dogs paradise.

Worth it for an overnight stay for the ferry, but nothing much else. Small pitches for tourers and a very dilapidated site. Toilet blocks look nice but are not kept well. The regulars staying at the site are a bit ‘rough’ and the swimming pool is only open for limited amounts of time and never in the morning. After many years of staying in statics, and then using our tourer, we have now decided not to use this site again as it has really gone downhill and is definitely third class. There’s definitely a business opportunity for somebody to open a better site in Southsea.

This is a site in definite need of TLC. It has everything you need for a successful stay: outdoor pool, bar, food, entertainment room, plus showers, loos and launderette. Also a big plus is that it has direct access to the beach. There is also a good chippy and spar shop just around the corner. Unfortunately everything looks a little tired and shabby.
The staff are very helpful and friendly as are all the other campers we met, but there are a lot of permanent residents on this site, therefore there is always traffic on the move.
My biggest complaint here is the price. All pitches are for one unit and 2 people. A family of four with a dog will pay a fortune here per night as kids, awnings, pup tents and dogs are all charged at a high rate per night.

My Family and I used this site for many years as it has a good location right on the beach, and a good walk to South-sea.
However the last time we used this site we said we would not go back again. The site seems to cater for more seasonal than tourers now.
We booked a pitch for two years running as we liked the pitch and a few months before we were due to go on holiday we got a phone call saying that the pitch we had booked and paid for had been sold to a seasonal user.
The site were given was far too small for our van. The caravans were so close we could not put up our awning annex.
Local youths seem to take great pleasure in making as much noise as they can till the early hours just the other side of the hedge and drive cars around a gravel car park like it is a race track.
It is a real shame it could be a real money spinner if it sorted out its bad points.

This site is very basic and I'm glad we only did this via a 'sun' holiday because I would have been very upset if I'd paid full price. We stayed for a weekend and found the receptionist to be unhelpful. Not being allowed access until 4pm is ridiculous that's almost a whole day wasted. The playpark on the site was padlocked so we couldn't use that even though the bar manager said he would come and open it (didn't happen in the hour we were hanging around). Southsea as a town was fantastic and we spent a whole day in the park, opposite the pier, which has a playarea and lake with pedalos etc on it. There was a lot of glass on the part of the beach right next to the campsite and the map of the camp actually labels the nudist beach which was just to the left (we didn't see any of this so it is avoidable.)
