Great campsite for families located on a lovely unspoilt pebble beach, all staff were very pleasant and helpful. The playground and sandpit were handy for the little ones. Food in the clubhouse was good value and the entertainment at night was great to have. The toilet and shower block was kept very clean and the water was nice and hot. Definitely would stay again, the site was busy (which I think is a good sign of a well run camp site) but certainly not rowdy as other reviews say.

Recently stayed at this campsite - but only for one night due to the noise of others and rain! The campsite is very small and very gravelly - we bent lots of pegs, the pegs that didn't bend soon came out of the ground. There was a group of people who were partying and arguing until 3am - there was no sight of a security guard! The toilets were ok but full of ants! I must say though, it was lovely when the noise died down as you could hear the sea! Wouldn't go back here mainly due to terrible ground and small grassed area for tents!

Just back from a five night stay at this site. The main problem is that if the topsoil on the tent field gets any thinner, you'll need a pneumatic drill just to get any pegs into the ground. The site must hold some kind of record for bent tent pegs per pitch ! We had some extremely rough weather and had to scavenge breeze blocks to secure the guy lines and the awning, otherwise I would have been up all night banging pegs back in. The site is pretty bleak in poor weather and a bit remote in terms of attractions and bus services, although it is very close to the excellent Royal Marines Museum. The toilet / shower blocks were at times very unpleasant and needed more attention from the staff during the day. Some of the people who were being allowed to use the site left a lot to be desired - loud music after the bar closed, not cleaning up after their dogs, messing up the toilet blocks, and some who only left their tents to resupply with alcohol. I would use this site again, but really only for it's beachside location - I wasn't exactly spoilt for choice when looking for sites in this area.

Have stayed on this a number of times whilst visiting family. It is not the most attractive site I have stayed on but is great base. It has beach access and Southsea itself is a short walk away. There is a play area for kids, although if you have younger children you would need to stay with them as it is not near the touring pitch. About 10 minutes walk away there is canoe lake which is fantastic for children, it has a large play area, football pitches, cafe and you can have a 'swan' ride on the lake. This site would be a great stop over site if you are traveling to the I.o.W or France.

Just returned from our visit and have to say was not in the least impressed. Staff were unhelpful, unfriendly and very sharp. Site was scruffy in need of some TLC and very overcrowded. We went with my parents who have a motor home and had requested grass pitches, the grass seemed to be about 1/2 inch on top of gravel and concrete which made getting pegs in almost impossible. My father uses a motorised scooter and found access around the site very difficult - the units were so close together there was not enough room for him to pass between the units. Units next to us were only about 2 feet away! and the one path to the club was blocked by a huge stone! Entry to and from the site was by swipe card, you had to wait 20 minutes before you could re-enter, not very good when we forgot something and needed to go back. My daughter and her boyfriend joined us last minute for 4 nights. According to the tarif they could have an additional car on site for £1.75 per night which they were willing to pay, however when we arrived they were told they would have to leave it in the car park, this resulted in the car been damaged by locals who were allowed to access the clubs and a new wing mirror had to be purchased, (a gentleman on holiday had to be taken to hospital as these locals were using some kind of gas spray). After a very heated argument they did eventually allow them to put the car on site. The access to the beach was OK if you are fit and healthy as it is via steep banks/slopes or steps, if you have problems walking then it is very difficult to access from the site. Toilet blocks were cleaned once in the morning so by the afternoon they were in a bit of a state with no toilet roll or soap on many occasions late evening or first thing in the morning. During busy times you had to queue for a time as there were only 4 showers in the ladies in each block (there were 2 blocks in total). The play area was good but my 12 year old nephew was told to get out as he was considered too big, the sign states no one over the age of fourteen is allowed in the play area, there were no height restrictions. As there was no where to play ball games he could not join in with others to let off steam. The club house had 2 rooms, one for families with entertainment and one for adults only after 6pm although other signs said no children after 9.30 - a little confusing. Again not very friendly and closing time depended on how many people were in. In the family room the fire door was chained and padlocked (is this not against the law?) There was entertainment which was good and also comprised of a disco most evenings as well but the same few records were played over and over again. Southsea and Portsmouth were full of things to do and would recommend the Historic dockyard and a trip on the Hovercraft over to Ryde.

This is a good site, next to the pebble beach which is a nudist beach if you turn left off the site! Shower and toilet blocks are nice and clean with plenty of hot water. This site is very well positioned for all the activities Southsea and Portsmouth have to offer. Site shop is a little basic but there is a small bar and games room that we didn't use but it looked OK. This site is Ideal if you need a stop over for the ferry.

Not a bad site, stayed 5 nights, next to the beach. Glad we had toilet and shower in the van, not enough when busy had to queue. Good bar, the playground is good, kids were out all the time. Site shop is very basic, on site food good. We were on a grass pitch with hookup, these are very flat. Theres lots to do in Southsea - we took the hovercraft to the I.O.W for the day - good day out. Theres also a big funfair if you have kids and plenty of money to spare.

Smashing site. Lots of lovely clean toilets and showers, staff very helpful and they dont mind how late you arrive as there is 24 hour security either on the gate or somewhere close. There are a few gravel pitches but the grass sites are marked and well drained so even in November grass isnt a problem. For an extra £5 you can stay until 6.00 p.m on your day of departure. There's a bar, cafe, kids playground and small shop on site. Close to Southsea town and Portsmouth so lots to do.

Well laid out site, good toilet/shower/washing facilities, bar and restaurant on site. Hook ups readily available, beach a stones throw away (pebble beach). Take away on site. Excellent touring base with easy access to isle of wight, Portsmouth and Hayling Island all accessible by bicycle. shops nearby.

Reading previous reveiws re the gravel area - still the same very unkempt. This must really be the worst camp site I have ever had the pleasure of staying on - dirty - littered - washing area for clothes dirty - grass pitch we stayed on was strewn with nub ends and long grass, situated next to some sort of radar establishment, not mentioned or shown in the brochure. Gravelled area was extrememly shabby occupied in one corner by "long-stay residents", with chairs - flower tubs - gas bottles next to the various vans.
The rules also stated "all commercial vans should be parked in the car park" - not so, there were several coming, going and parking by the "long stay residents" - at different times throughout the night. Speed rules were ignored and thankfully no one's children were in the way, when the "time trials took place".
No warden available - needless to say we "escaped as soon as we could" - Could be an absolutely lovely site with a lot of care and returned to a camping and caravan site only, with no "long stay caravans with associated rubbish" Good points - next to beach - part of beach is a nudist beach (very brave people to sit on the gravel beach) - shop adequate - reception staff helpful.
