We have had a lovely, lovely time at this super friendly site. There was a warm welcome on arrival and we were settled onto our pitch with personal attention. It's a really small and cosy place so we felt at home immediately. The lovely and friendly dog came to check out the tent, quickly followed by the chickens (who know a barbecue when they see one) and eventually the turkey came round for a look. The kids loved this.
The pitch itself was flat and non-stony so the tent went up easily and the pegs went in without bother. We stayed over a VERY wet few days so I can state with confidence that the site is also v well drained.
Logistically, I would say that this site is really geared up for adults and older families. The facilities are spotless but shared between boys and girls which is quite unusual. They are entered using a special key which requires a £10 deposit. You have to reach up pretty high to unlock, it was a bit of a stretch for my 10 year old - obviously this is to ensure that young children don't go unattended.
Showers are 2x50p for 4 mins and the hot water (for washing up) is 50p a big bowl. This does sound steep but I believe that the cost per night for camping is really good value so this wasn't a problem to us.
There is a cafe on site, we used it for breakfast on our last day which was delicious.
There was one downside, which I hesitate to mention, but in the interest of balance. I think it must be quite close to a motorway or busy road because there was some road noise at night time. This was a bit of a shame because visually this is in a beautiful location, but the cars made it not possible to really imagine that you were getting away from civilisation. It's a small thing and, I think compensated for by everything else.
Overall, we were really pleased with ourselves for finding this site - it's tidy, friendly and in a lovely position. If we are visiting this area again then we would definitely go back.
We would definitely

A lovely, well maintained, friendly little site, and the cafe serving good food was a bonus. We paid a £10 for the toilet block key, which was refunded on return. The toilet block consisted of 2 toilet cubicles plus a wet room with shower, which were kept spotlessly clean.
I personally disliked the fact that the toilets were unisex with just a thin partition separating the cubicles. There was just not enough privacy for my liking and when sitting on the 'throne' I hated knowing there was a man performing his ablutions so close by.
Unfortunately our camper isn't big enough to have it's own toilet which would have been preferable on this site. I'm afraid this has put us off returning again. However, it can be recommended if you have a van with it's own facilities.

What a cracking little site. We have just stayed the one night, but will definitely come again. The owners are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. A great bonus was the reasonably priced tea room, which served an excellent breakfast, plenty of it and very tasty. The shower / toilets are clean and more than adequate for the size of the site. Thankyou carol and harry and also your' helpers ' we will certainly be back.

An excellent semi-rural site where nothing is too much trouble, stayed for two nights to test a new tent and will definitely be returning!
The pricing is very reasonable compared to similar sites and all facilities are kept spotless by the attentive and helpful owners, who are always on hand whether you need help, hot food or a brew.
There can be no denying the charm of the country setting of this site with chickens and ponies roaming the neighbouring fields, and it is in a great location for anybody looking for good nature walks, especially around Pendle which is less than a 10 minute drive away.
Absolutely cannot fault this site or the owners and look forward to returning sometime in the near future!

Me my wife & 5 year old daughter arrived on a rainy Friday evening to try out our caravan for the 1st time. We were meeted and greeted by the friendly Harry and his dogs who told us were to park up, all was going well till the jockey wheel clamp handle snapped off in my hand.
Luckily Keith who is a regular to the site is an engineer fixed the problem within 5 minutes so we bought him a bottle of wine.
The site is small but has everything you need for a relaxed quiet night or 2 away, Harrys Wife Carole makes an amazing full English or there is cereal for the kids.
We had a tour of the farm, met all the animals and watched a DVD in the tea room about the history of how the site was created.
All in all we had a brilliant weekend and Harry & Carole are the best hosts you could hope for.

A lovely flat site half grass half hard standing very close to some lovely countryside but also to town, there was also some motorway (M65) The owners made us feel welcome and were very friendly.
I was quoted £15. 00 per night but was charged £16. 00 but the more upsetting was that everything was metered. Although the toilet and shower were very clean Everything was extra, showers were a £1. 00. Hot water for the hand wash basin was on a metre as was the outside washing facility. Drinking water was tucked away so I had to carry containers to our Moho, not a problem for me but might be for some, no grey water drains on site at all so that would need to be carried to the black waste disposal point.
As I have said a lovely site but expensive.

We went to this little site for 2 nights and ended up staying for 9. What a find, the site is fantastic. The toilets and shower are kept spotless, as is all the site. There is a great little café with home made cakes and jams on sale. Also on site is a coal mining museum that is well worth a look round. Then there is the owners of the site, you could not meet two nicer people, nothing is to much trouble for them they make everyone feel welcome. They also offer a breakfast at the farmhouse that is a must if you like a large feed up in the morning! The site is quiet, so don't go here if you want a bar or club on site but if you want quiet relaxation on a super, well run, friendly and nicely kept site then give this one a try.

Went again this weekend, once again nothing but praise for the owners and the site itself. The weather was wonderful so we were able to see around the mining museum, even though it only small it was full of fascinating facts and really interesting WELL WORTH A VISIT even if your not staying on the site. The tea room is lovely and serves a nice cup of coffee, £2. 00 for a large pot with four servings, great value WE WILL RETURN AGAIN.

A lovely peaceful site, very clean pitches and well kept grassed area. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners, they were helpful and very friendly nothing seemed to much trouble. We took our 2year grandchild, she loved it even though in poured with rain she spent two hours walking around with the chickens and watching the ponies. Toilets and shower(just the one shower)very clean and well maintained, hot water on tap if you did not want to shower.
Washing up area with large sink, plenty of hot water, very clean and tidy, rubbish bins close to hand again very clean. We are going again this weekend well worth £15. 00 a night
