Nice site that’s well out of the way of busy road traffic,
I didn’t use the shower facilities as it’s the middle of winter and it’s floor to ceiling in tiles, (should be ok in summer though) and, as it’s an “out of season” time of year,
Some of the facilities were looking in need of improvement, (which hopefully will be getting done in preparation for summer season)
All that said, I will definitely be visiting again whilst seeing family and friends in the area.

We really enjoyed our stay at Smithson Farm over the Easter holidays. Carole was so lovely and very efficient when we phoned to book. Harry was there to greet us when we arrived and to show us the facilities and the on-site mining museum.
A massive, massive thanks to Carole, Harry and Richard for their help in getting our camper awning tent erected. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without their experience and expertise.
It was very dog friendly andJake our dog met some new doggy buddies. He wants to thank Findlay for sharing his bone with him.
The site was quiet with lots nice dog walks close by. The Pendle and Brontë Ways are within walking distance as is a lovely small Woodland Trust woods and the Leeds Liverpool Canal towpath.
We drove the short distance to Barley twice during our stay to hike the witches trail and Pendle Hill.
Carole, Harry and their lovely dogs go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. Carole even drove my husband to a shop so that he could buy some wine on Easter Sunday.

Lovely semi rural site Harry and Carol were very obliging nothing was too much trouble for them.
2x 50p for a 4 min shower was a bit steep as I used more than 4 mins so cost me £2 per shower.
Unisex toilets didn't bother me but I was there in early Feb so the site was quiet.
Loved the fact the animals roamed freely and it didn't bother me at all.
Will return

Very pleasant welcome and refreshments on arrival. I wasn’t happy when asked to pay £10 deposit if we wanted to use the toilet and shower block, I did happily pay this once carol explained the reasoning behind this.
We were very happy with the pitch given to us, the scenery is stunning. This is when the nightmare started, it took twice as long putting our tent up, because the owners 2 big dogs kept coming running and jumping on the tent, so as my husband was trying to put it up, the dogs were jumping up and collapsing what he’d already got up. Finally the tent was up, air bed blown up and made. I was happy unpacking the car, my husband been for pizza and looking forward to relaxing, having something to eat, with a glass of wine, when I heard my husband shouting having found the one dog inside our tent rolling around on our bed and eating the pizza.
We’d already complained about the dogs to the owner, who promised to keep them on leads, which it does say on the website, my husband went to see the owner Harry again, explaining what had happened and was told in no uncertain terms that it was our fault for not zipping the tent up. We were hurled abuse at, what do you expect on a farm. I was speaking to the lady camping next to me and was completely shocked when she told me after we complained, Harry had spoken to her husband saying we were trouble makers. We left the morning after.

Pleasant stay but dogs and unisex facilities would stop us from returning. Owners were lovely and attentive, but unfortunately so were their two very large dogs which, along with the hens, were allowed to roam free range throughout the site. Despite the description on ukcampsite saying dogs to be kept on a lead at all times! We have two of our own dogs so are used to them being around but we had left them at home which on reflection we were relieved about, as the campsite dogs were constantly just wandering all through our pitch (sometimes almost disappearing into the tent if we weren’t quick enough to tell them no!) and our dogs would not have taken kindly to this intrusion.
Whilst we were putting up our tent, one of said dogs decided to wee up one of our chairs. I played this down to the owner but then the next minute the same dog was on top of our (then flat) tent as my husband was putting it up. I had to ask the owner to get it off! It just seemed selfish to us. What about people who don’t have/like dogs?
Later in the afternoon I saw their other dog doing its mess at the back of the two pods on the site. As the owners weren’t around it was just left there and I didn’t want to mention it to them as I’d already had to mention the other two incidents! What about any children on the site?
On day two one of the dogs wee’d on our windbreak! Very little we could do to stop it.
There was a group of three tents with a dog and that dog was allowed to run around and go on everyone’s pitches.
I had read that the site had unisex toilets/shower block and didn’t think it would bother me but both my husband and I were very uncomfortable with it. The block was very small so it was almost inevitable that someone else would be in there every time we paid a visit, and walking in to a man in there worried me greatly. My husband took to watching carefully whenever I had to go to the block for my safety. He said he also felt very uncomfortable at the thought of there being just him and a woman he didn’t know in there.
Finally, despite ongoing COVID-19 issues, there was practically no attempt to make the site safe, just a couple of signs encouraging social distancing and a few bottles of hand sanitizer left lying around looking distinctly unhygienic.
Oh and come on! 50p for hot water to wash up??
Won’t be returning!

We stayed here in April in one of Smithson Farm's beautiful pods and were so pleased with the site we booked to bring our grandchildren camping in the tent.
As soon as we arrived we were warmly greeted and offered a tea or coffee with juice for the grandchildren.
Our pitch was flat and spacious. Everything about this site is lovely - the owners and staff are so friendly and nothing is any trouble. The cafe is great with delicious food, all served with a smile.
Would highly recommend to anyone wanting a comfortable stay with good, clean facilities and welcoming owners.
