The owners are very friendly indeed. We did have a problem with the electricity tripping, this was explained the next day when the owner came round, it's only 6 amp. We were given a list of what you can and can't use which was very helpful. The cost was £15 per unit per night plus electric, however we were presented with the cost of the electric used which was £5 per night so for a 3 night stay it cost us £60 which for a Certified site is very expensive considering there are no showers and we couldn't use anything over 1 kw. Lovely site but too expensive for what it is.

Stayed for one night with my grandson to test out our new tent. Lovely little site, relaxed and with enough to do to keep the children happy. Very helpful and hospitable owners, and we had an excellent breakfast at the farmhouse with family who visited for the morning. Little shop, mining museum - however, no showers, which was the only down side. Highly recommended for a short stay. Good value for money.

Lovely little campsite very clean with a nice little cafe and shop and a fantastic mining museum. Lots of things to do nearby and they are fantastic hosts. Will be back and would definitely recommend their breakfast!!
The site is small and very safe you can happily let the kids explore around and about. It's great for the kids to have the chickens wandering about outside and begging breakfast! !

We stopped over 1 night for the Pennine 10k in Burnley & this place was perfect for us.
The welcome was extremely friendly and they have made a real effort with the place. You can immediately tell they care about it. There are all the facilities you would need, plus a shop for any extras.
It's in a lovely spot with fields all around and you would hardly know you were near a big town. There are some lovely pubs in Fence just up the road, for something nice to eat or a decent beer.
The only thing lacking was showers, which is in the process of being sorted out, so I imagine in a couple of weeks that will be remedied.

Just had a fabulous weekend with the family at this delightful litte farm. The owners were very friendly and extremly helpful and went out of their way to help those campers who came without essentials. Although there was no showers (the owners are working on getting them installed), the facilities were gleaming. There is a little shop and even a little tea room / cafe. The campsite is less than an hours drive from Manchester and makes it perfect for a quick drive out on a Friday night, set up a BBQ and chill out. ! We will definitely be going back to this one. There are plenty of places to visit in and around the area and makes for a perfect weekend away.

Just arrived home from a lovely Bank Holiday weekend @ Smithson Farm, we thoroughly enjoyed the weekend,
We were meet by the owners, who are very nice friendly & helpful, we where shown all the facilities,
Toilets very clean, shop full of things you may have forget, also home made Jams, Lemon Cheese & Honey ( I bought some Lemon cheese & it's delicious ).
There's a Reading/local tourist information room. Plenty of tables & chairs dotted around so you can have a picnic.
Play area for little children. Chicken's walking around which is so nice to see. The site is close to little villages for lunch, shops, walks up Pendle Hill.
We are going back the following weekend with our 4 year old granddaughter she will love the ponies.
Excellent value for money, thank you.

We spent a very pleasant weekend at Smithson Farm campsite in May.
There was 2 tents in our party. My husband & I with our little dog in one tent & friends with 3 children in a large tent.
The site was easy to find & is very near to Pendle Hill which is lovely & Burnley is close by also.
We had a warm welcome from the site owners who were extremely helpful & friendly & live in the farmhouse next to the site.
We all had plenty of space to sit out & to explore & the kids loved playing out & discovering the animals that were near by. There is a shop on the site & we treated ourselves to some yummy jam & honey that was produced on the farm which was nice to bring home as a little reminder of our break, there was various other items for sale that might be useful for a stay including free range eggs.
The toilets are clean & well kept as is the rest of the site which we all agreed was good value for money.
We had a great, memorable time & will certainly return!
