We stayed here (2 adults, 2 children) for 3 nights and all loved it! The facilities are good, with porta-loos dotted about the site (do not be put off by porta-loos - they were spotlessly clean with battery lights for night). The showers were also very good, in a porta-block, but again spotless and powerful (more so if not many were using them, but still fine if busy) They had a washing up area, with washing up bowls, dish scrubbers, drainers and liquid supplied! Couldn't have asked for more. The owner (and the chap we met) were very friendly and the reception area has leaflets giving information about things to do in the local area. They also supplied sweets and fruit in bowls for the children (or adults!) to take when they visited!
The pitches are marked out and are plenty big enough. They also had a 11. 30pm quiet policy and a no music policy and it was fully adhered to every night (if not earlier!) The owners gave us info about the site on arrival and it states that they will ensure this happens and if you have any issues to go to reception. (there is a chap that seems to sleep in the caravan at reception each night) That was peace of mind, but not needed at all. The local area has a great pub with an outside play area for children 5 minutes walk away, as is the open forest. The ponies are hilarious and we often found many of them standing on the steps of the village hall or queuing at the pub gates, waiting to get in!. We had a great stay and would highly recommend! - Just one more point - we could not find a cheaper site than this in the many sites we looked at in the New Forest, so all around, win win! We'll be going back!

We had a lovely time at this camp site, and can confirm all the positive things other reviewers have said.
Just one negative thing - we were told to set up on the pitch right behind the central portaloos when we arrived. I think this is in fact too close, as throughout our stay we got whiffs of the chemicals(and other things) and also sound effects.
Not sure why we were told to go there, as there were other unoccupied pitches throughout our stay.
Perhaps the two pitches which are so close to the central portaloos should be taken out of use?
This is not to say the loos were dirty - on the contrary, they were very clean and well-maintained but we arrived on Sunday and they were emptied on the Monday, so we may have encountered them at their worst.

We spent a lovely long weekend at Chapelfield and would happily come back again! Set down a quiet lane, it has a very relaxed feel.
Yes, the facilities could be seen as 'basic' but we didn't think so. The toilets and shower block were spotless at all times. As was the campsite field. The free fruit for the kids was a nice touch and the owner (who stayed on site) was always very friendly.
The field is undulating, but we liked how the tents were all placed up at the top which left lots of space for the children to play and a nice big slope for them to run/roll down. Not having a play area wasn't a problem for any of the children as they happily made friends and just played and ran and laughed. Bliss!

We spent 5 nights at Chapelfield over the bank holiday weekend, and we loved it. A basic site but extremely friendly and lovely, and quiet even on such a busy weekend!
Loved the little extras ie: washing up liquid, brushes, free bin bags and ice pack freezing. The kids loved being able to bike to reception and pick up some fruit/sweets or purchase a 10p Ice pop.
Facilities are fairly basic but even though they're in a trailer the showers are better than most permanent blocks!
The community shop from Woodgreen visited each morning over the weekend, and was another nice touch. There bread and pastries were particularly yummy!
The owner was very helpful, and was happy to give us advice on setting up our own site, which we're hoping to do in Suffolk next year.

We chose this site for a weeks holiday because it was quiet and not commercial, and were not disappointed. Sarah was really helpful and friendly. We arrived in torrential rain, and left our trailer whilst we went in to Fordingbridge for a coffee and cake! We chose a central level pitch which got the sun all day. Some pitches are near trees, but are on a slight slope, there are also some smaller 'couples' pitches near the trees which are level.
Despite the rain the site is well drained and no mud at all. Although basic, the facilities were spotless. There was lots of room for children to run and play, we appreciated the free ice block freezing facility and the sweets were an incentive for children to go and change them!. The showers were hot, plentiful and powerful.
The area is delightful, ponies everywhere and the forest and heathland stunning. We used it as a base to explore the new forest, Stonehenge and took the children to monkey world and the coast.
We used the shop and play area in Sandy Balls but were glad we weren't camping in their crowded cornfield. The Sat and Sunday mobile shop brought fresh milk and danish pastries and croissants - delicious. We did not use the local pub, as we thought it seemed quite expensive for meals.
I hope we can come back again as we loved it.

This was our second stay at Chapelfield Campsite. The reasons we came back are:
Friendly and helpful staff.
Fantastic location for exploring the New Forest.
Pub just round the corner serving decent food.
Basic but extremely clean toilets.
Good, hot showers.
Good size pitches (10M X 10M).
Quiet site due to the no music policy.
No noise after 11:30PM, so great for families with children.
Free access to the reception freezer where you can deposit your own ice packs or use theirs for a refundable deposit.
Free sweets and fruit from reception is a lovely touch, plus washing up liquid provided at the washing up stations.
Recycling / black bin bags provided.
Mobile shop at weekends.
Just bring some rock pegs for the tent, as the ground will easily destroy plastic pegs (these can be borrowed from reception too). The upside to this is that the field drains very quickly after even heavy rain.
In summary, this is a lovely back to basics campsite. It has no EHU, kids playground, permanent shop etc, but is all the better for it.
The Sandy Balls 'resort' next door has all these things if you need them (our kids loved their playgrounds / arcades etc) but it was always great to walk back into the calm of Chapelfields. Just wish it was open for more of the year!
We'll be back!

Fantastic site, really friendly and helpful hosts and great location. Lovely quiet field, but close enough to pub - 5 minute walk with great food.
Campsite is very clean wih great, hot showers and individual washrooms and fully stocked portaloos.
Free use of freezer, basic equipment and bin bags provided, as well as washing up facilities with free liquid.
Will definitely go back, in preference to the very overcrowded and noisy fields in the Sandy Balls site next door!
Chapelfield is right on the edge of the forest with easy access to shops, attractions, bike hire etc.
Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this site to families, friends, couples alike.

We stayed at Chapelfield over the Jubilee period, there was a group of five tents all together, we had gone especially for a family party.
Sarah and her partner were lovely, really helpful, welcoming and very accommodating.
The site is basic with no EHU, this was our first without electric, but I have to say we really enjoyed it and did not miss it one bit.
There were portaloos, which were immaculate and kept on top of at all times. Same with the showers, free, hot and plenty of space.
Located in a beautiful part of the country, with lots to are and do, would definitely recommend a visit.

This was our first ever camping trip as a family. We have 2 daughters, 10 and 7. Booking was really easy and Sarah was really helpful as my 10 yr old has limited mobility and so we needed to be pitched fairly close the facilities.
We arrived on Saturday 2nd June just as it started raining! and were given a choice of pitches. We were concerned about putting the tent up in the rain (esp as first timers) but no sooner had we got the tent out of the car when 2 lovely fellow campers appeared and helped us set it up.
The campsite is basic in terms of facilities but clean and tidy. The portaloos were always clean, washing up liquid and bowls were available and we were able to borrow icepacks for a £1 each returnable deposit.
As it was so wet the first evening we went to the local pub (The Fighting Cocks) for dinner which was crowded but OK. We also had breakfast there on our final day which was a much more civilised affair.
The children quickly found friends at the campsite and it was great seeing them running around the field and also being so helpful doing the washing up etc. We borrowed bricks for our BBQ (free) and also were allowed to refreeze our own ice packs for free
We would definitely return.

Sarah and her partner were very friendly, approachable and run an extremely efficient campsite. Their extra touches were most welcome. Free use of freezer to store ice blocks, a 'help yourself' fruit bowl, and a bowl of sweets.
The toilets and showers were always clean with minimum waiting time (usually they were free) which was surprising seeing as it was Jubilee bank holiday.
The Fighting Cocks pub, 2 mins away, was an added bonus which served delicious food. Definitely visit Chapelfield again.
