This was the first time that we had used this site, after reading the reviews I was a bit worried what we would find. I must say that I was very pleased, Sarah made you feel like you had know her for ages. She was always riding her bike around the site to give you information and to check things were in order, and that you had no problems.

We were situated near the toilets which we were a bit concerned about, but we need not have worried as they were extremely clean and they did not smell at all, all you could smell as you walked by was the deodorant cleaner that was used with every flush. They always had plenty of toilet tissue, and they had a light, which was helpful when you were caught short during the night.

The showers were fantastic very hot and very clean. We did have to queue for them but it was not for long and it gave you time to chat to other campers.

I liked the no music rule. The no noise after 11.30 was a very good idea it enabled you to sleep if you wanted too.

We did find the ground very hard, but we were on the edge of the site which had tree roots so next time we will make sure we have different tent pegs, although you could get stronger pegs from Sarah for a small deposit.

The fighting cocks pub was a five minute walk away and served excellent food, in fact we walked up for a breakfast every morning. There is plenty to do and see locally, we walked into the local village which had a local shop with a post office and a good pub which served good food, we also walked down the footpath to Sandy Balls which had a Farmers Market on that day, the facilities there are available for you to use.

I found this site to be relaxing, quiet and really well located for the New Forest, with Fordingbridge only a short drive away. I would recommend this site if you want a relaxed and quiet time. We will be back hopefully in the summer.

The site as others have mentioned had 4 showers and 6 or so toilets which we found to be clean. We were not happy about the no music policy as we normally have an ipod connected to a 1W speaker which cannot get above talking level, but decided to follow her rules. Yes we understand its basically there to stop chavs playing loud music.

The site was basic, but quiet even through half full. We found the site ideal location for exploring and as its enclosed didn't need to worry about the local wildlife taking any interests in our tent.

The ground was hard and we did get through a lot of tent pegs, but think over time this hardcore stuff under the turf will get broken down so you can get the tent pegs in.

My daughter enjoyed the site and other kids liked playing in the corner out of everyones way.

The shop at Sandy Balls was expensive and after spending £50 on what I would have paid £20 at sainsburys for was charged 10p for a bag so ended up carrying the stuff (and dropping it) in my arms back to the tent.

This is a great site and dog friendly and Sarah is a great host always able to help, the freezer for freezing your ice packs and the hire facility of ice packs was great especially as our plug in car freezer had decided to heat everything up ruining our food.

Prices were £5 for tent, then £5 per adult and £2.50 for child, dog free.

The location of this site is brilliant, we easily covered the new forest and the coast during our week long stay.

The lady who owns/runs the site is lovely, however the facilities aren't great. The porta showers were generally clean, however the loo's got smelly quite quickly, even when it was quiet. Expect to que up for a shower and even the loos during the weekend, but ok at other times.

The Fighting Cock pub down the road does a great cooked breakfast, drinks not too badly priced. The site backs on to the Sandy Balls holiday park which has reasonably priced cycle hire. We ate in both their restaurant and pub and the food was good quality and not overly priced. Also had some half decent entertainment on on the one night we stayed.

Would say overall the site provided value for money compared to the others in the area, but it does need to both improve and expand the toilet and showering facilities.

Overall we had a fantastic holiday, with great weather!

Returned yesterday from a 3 night stay at Chapelfield Campsite.

We were met by a happy, smiley Sarah.

The site is small, friendly and quiet it has about x50 10mx10m pitches with 9 adult pitches at the back of the field. Though we were allocated a pitch we were free to choose any other that were vacant.

The facilities are more than adequate for our needs with x6 chemical toilets and x4 hot showers, these were always clean. There are a couple of standpipes for drinking water and space to do your washing up.

There are no EHU's but that was not a problem for us.

The site is child safe/friendly but there is not a lot for them to do (and have rated as such), I am not sure if the facillities in Sandy Balls is open to non-residents? But again as I have no children it was not aproblem.

There is a freezer available for your ice blocks, free of charge and there are some to hire for a £1 deposit (I think?).

Sarah also operates a recycling policy, so on arrival she issued us with a black bin liner for general waste and a recycling sack for paper, cardboard, plastics etc.

There is a mobile shop that visits on Saturday and Sunday morning. There is a Spar 10 minutes walk away located in the Sandy Balls complex. Or Fordingbridge is only 3miles away.

A couple of minutes walk away is the fantastic pub 'The Fighting Cocks' which serves breakfast from 8am-11am then a full menu from noon-9.30pm which we would highly recommend.

The site is ideally situated for the start of a lot of walks/drives Ringwood and Lyndhurst are apporox 30mins drive.

This is Sarahs first year (in fact first 2 weeks) running this site and we think she has done an excellent job, and I think once word gets round we may have trouble getting in next year but it was also good to hear she has no plans for making more pitches and cramming them in, we just wish she was open longer than a month :-)

The only criticism, well more of a suggestion than criticism is it could probably do with a toilet(s) a bit further up the field towards the adult pitches as the 2am toilet walk seemed a long way when you've just woken up, but I do realise you need decent access for the van to empty it.

In summary would definitely recommend to others and we will definitely be back.

We have just returned from this campsite after a weekend visit. It is a new campsite this month and so in its infancy.

On arrival we were welcomed at the reception tent where we were given a slip containing the rules and information and a map of the site. We were also handed a rubbish bag, a recycling bag and told where the recycling bins were. We were also shown the toilets and showers and told which pitch we had been assigned. This was a first for us - we have never been to a site where you have your set place to camp and found it rather strange.

On beginning to set up our tent we were SO glad we had brought our mallet as the soil round this area is very gravelly but we managed to get a good hold in the ground once they were in.

The facilities are very basic 6 portaloos, 4 showers and 2 water points. Although basic to the extreme the loos (and I suspect the showers though I didn't use them) were kept spotless by the warden and always had loo roll available and are lit at night. Much better than holding a torch in your mouth as I have done before!

The campsite is very undulating BUT only the flat or very nearly flat areas are allotted so it is no problem. Each section is 10m2 - plenty of room for most tents and you can park on your patch or just in front of it if you wish. In total there are 52 pitches 43 being in the family section and the other 9 saved for adults only.

At the furthest end is a rope swing that seemed to be very popular with the children on the site strangely this was right next to the adult only section but again it wasn't a problem. There is a foot path to Sandy Balls campsite which is just the other side of a lane. Here if you are feeling brave you can buy supplies from their shop only 15 mins walk away though I wouldn't recommend it if you want to keep your sanity as it is full of over excited children and adults intent on buying up the world. A much better option is the pub literally 5 mins walk away. Here you can find a hearty meal with a good selection of beer and cider run by an ex-butcher. There are even a few veggi options available on the menu and the chips come highly recommended!

Back to the site - dogs on leads are welcomed and there were many when we stayed. Apparently there is a freezer to put your own ice packs in to freeze. BBQs are allowed but campfires are not although some people turned their BBqs into a fire after the meal - so long as it was off the ground it didn't seem to be a problem. Bricks are available to put disposable BBQs on.

At the weekend a mobile shop visits the site at 9.15 and the warden cycles round the site letting you know it's arrived. She also rides round at other times to check all is well and stops for a quick chat which was lovely.

The only criticisms I would make is the no music at any time rule. Although this makes for a quiet site the air seems rather flat especially if your used to listening to music during the day and evening .And the other criticism . Why was it always ME that had to open the gate keeping the wild ponys out to let our car out?!
